Scaz, Mo & Meg pop by the studio for the final time before the World Cup. They're fresh from the plane from a convincing win over France, in their final warm up fixture, so as per usual chaos ensues. The girls also reflect on their journey to this point, eight years since we last saw Meg & Mo on the world stage in the 15s game, so it's also an opportune moment for Meg to reflect on her year of growth & fresh perspective, a year on from her dad passing away.

The girls have been back in England camp this week & the Red Roses’ Vice Captaincy has been bestowed upon our Meg, so Scaz, Mo & Elma hash through what it takes to be a leader in the Red Roses. True to form, Meg is open and honest about leadership, as well as the year she’s had - losing both her mum and dad in quick succession. She proudly tells the girls about the people they both were, as well as the struggles her mum had with alcoholism, in the hope that others affected by addiction don’t feel so alone. She’s one in a million, our Meg.

I enjoyed the mix of humor and insight in that piece—it’s always refreshing when sports writing captures both the spirit of the game and the personalities around it, rather than just the scores. Rugby especially has such a rich culture of camaraderie that shines through when it’s told with a bit of wit. It also made me think of Estafas Bizum, where personality and trust play a big role—except scammers try to fake that sense of connection. Do you think sports stories are more engaging when they focus on the players’ journeys, or when they stick to analyzing the matches? https://estafasbizum.es/
