Have you ever really looked at and thought about the promises in Psalm 91?  Most of us have heard the Psalm several times, but have you dissected it verse by verse? I am doing a daily study right now of Psalm 91, and it has been very powerful to break down the scripture and really soak in the protection God has for us. This psalm reveals God’s nature and the conditions required for us to enjoy His protection.    Psalm 91 is the one place in scripture where all of God’s protection promises are brought together in one collection.  It is another example of God’s covenant with us through the Holy Spirit.  I wanted to spend some time going through each verse a little more in-depth and try to put it in life application terms. Today we are going through verses 1-4.   I hope this episode blesses you! I am coming back to the topic of decluttering and getting organized.  I have to tell you about my recent break up with paper…26 years’ worth of paper!  Today I take you through my 4-step process for going (almost) paperless and getting more organized.    Over the Christmas break, my daughter was home.  I had shared with her my goals around decluttering and that the paper thing was probably the most daunting.  Well, she got the process started and we accomplished a lot!    We applied my 4 step process to decluttering, and I went from a stack of papers that was taller than I am, down to just one desk drawer worth of papers. It is so freeing!  Tune in to hear how we did it and how you can do it too. I hope this episode blesses you! Have you ever heard of the Pareto Principle, otherwise known as the 80/20 rule?  Well, it is a really interesting principle that states that 80% of consequences come from 20% of actions – and it has been shown to hold true for many different aspects of life and business.   It has even become a way to improve time management and enhance productivity.    As I began to look at my days and how I function, this principle holds true when it comes to what I accomplish.  And, as I have come to understand that, it changes how I schedule my most important tasks.  Today we are talking about how to apply the 80/20 rule in your life and work so that you can up your game when it comes to time management.   I hope this episode blesses you! Today, I am using an example of a big audacious goal that some of you might relate to, and breaking it down into smaller projects and action steps.  This is to expand on what we talked about yesterday… taking our big goals and breaking it down into simple steps.   The example I am going to use is a big one: running a half marathon and shedding some pounds along the way. This is one that I have had and done in the past, but I have been off of the running and healthy weight train.  It has again become a big audacious goal that seems unattainable unless I break it down into baby steps.     So, today I am breaking it down into manageable steps, hoping you can use this example and apply it to your own big goals.   I hope this episode blesses you! Today, we're tackling the number one thing that keeps so many of us stuck in life: a lack of self-worth. You see, when we don't believe in our own worthiness, it becomes the invisible force holding us back, stifling our potential, and keeping us from living the life we dream of.   Think about it: How often have you held back from pursuing your goals or speaking up for yourself because deep down, you didn't feel worthy? How many opportunities have slipped through your fingers because you didn't believe you deserved them?   But here's the good news: You don't have to stay stuck in this cycle of self-doubt and limitation. Today, we're going to explore how understanding your worthiness and taking action to reclaim it can set you free to create the life you truly desire. I hope this episode blesses you! The Impact of Mindset: Our mindset, the mental framework through which we view the world, plays a pivotal role in shaping our reality. A fixed mindset, rooted in inflexible beliefs and a reluctance to entertain alternative perspectives, can limit personal growth and hinder meaningful connections. On the other hand, a growth mindset, characterized by openness, adaptability, and a willingness to learn, fosters resilience and enriches our understanding of the world.   Embracing a growth mindset involves acknowledging that our truth is just one of many possible interpretations. Our truth is not necessarily THE TRUTH.  By being open to consider another perspective, we create space for curiosity, empathy, and collaboration, which are essential ingredients for navigating the complexities of the human experience.   Shifting from a fixed to a growth mindset involves intentional efforts to challenge our assumptions and broaden our understanding. Today I am going to share with you 5 practical steps to foster a more open perspective. I hope this episode blesses you! Are you feeling anxious the closer we get to Christmas?   Do you ever feel like the oddball during the holiday season… while others are getting excited for the festivities and basking in the joy of all that goes along with planning and preparing for gatherings and gift giving, you feel a growing sense of anxiety and overwhelm?  Maybe I am the only weirdo on the planet, but I really have to work at not getting overwhelmed and anxious between mid-November and the first of the year.  I feel an obligation to decorate my home and start all of the gift shopping.    While I love all of the decorations and festivity that surround me in other homes and venues, the thought of pulling it all together in my own home is overwhelming.  With all of our other work and life responsibilities, I sort of want to just skip over it.  But as a mom, I know the value of tradition. This is often the time of year that I find myself wishing that I had all of my time to work from home and manage my home instead of working full time outside the home and trying to also work from home and manage my home.  I have visions of all of the beautiful decorating I would do and how inviting I would make my home.   But…  my reality is not that right now, so I need to figure out how to make due with where I am in life at the moment.   Today is for those of you, like me, who struggle to keep from getting anxious over the holidays.  I am going to give you 10 tips to prevent, or at least reduce, anxiety during the holidays.   I hope this episode blesses you! Do you allow yourself to dream?  Are your dreams big or small?  Coming from a background of scarcity and living too often in fear of failure instead of faith in the unfathomable, I have not often allowed myself to dream, especially not big dreams.  However, I am learning that God wants us to dream because he has very big plans for our lives… plans that may seem impossible to us but are definitely possible for God.   I recently had the opportunity to get away for a women’s dream planning retreat in beautiful San Diego.  It was such a wonderful experience to be with other women who were willing to be vulnerable in sharing their God-sized dreams and to be courageous enough to keep dreaming things that are only possible because of the awesome God that we serve.    It got me thinking about the importance and value of having dreams.  Too often, we think that it is a waste of time or self-indulgent to think about and pursue our dreams.  But actually, dreaming is extremely important and beneficial when it comes to living abundant and successful lives.   Today I am sharing 5 reasons why it is so very important to dream as a Christian woman in leadership.   I hope this episode blesses you! Those of you who know me know that I cry very easily when it comes to things that I am passionate about or people I care about. I think that is part of who I am, I wear my heart on my sleeve I guess.   I like to think it is more about loving people deeply and being authentically compassionate.    That being said, I also have a history of being emotionally triggered by my vulnerabilities. If I felt self-doubt, fear or criticism, I struggled to control my emotions. I am still not immune but have seen a big transformation in this area. As one might expect, along with that, I have seen a lot of growth in my emotional intelligence.   In Episode #82 I talked about emotional intelligence and how essential it is in leadership.  For today’s podcast, I wanted to dive a little deeper into the personal aspects of emotional intelligence and the journey I have been on. In Episode 80, we talked about how we can get distracted with our time when we are overwhelmed and we don’t have solid systems in place to focus our time and thoughts.   This got me to thinking about the spiritual application of distraction.  There are many ways that the enemy tries to destroy us and if he can’t destroy us, he will distract us, trying to steal our attention away from God and God’s promises.   Distractions are designed to get you off course from God’s will. The enemy wants you so caught up in your own circumstances that you take your eyes off of Jesus. He does this to dilute the sovereignty and divine power of God in our minds.   He wants us to think that our troubles are bigger than God.   The enemy lies, steals and seeks to destroy.  His lies cause death and destruction. “Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8) “He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies” (John 8:44)   Tune in to listen to 8 ways the enemy tries to distract us away from God and His will for our lives. Do you ever find that the more you have to do, and the more overwhelmed you start to feel, the more distracted you get and the less productive you are?   Chances are, that is because you do not have an effective system for tackling your projects and tasks.  Today I am going to share my secret to limiting distractions and getting more done in less time. I have spent a fair amount of time gaining self-awareness and observing other professionals.  I see the entire spectrum from people who function in complete “fight or flight”, fire-fighting, chaotic and reactive styles of leadership to well-oiled machines who are extremely prepared, proactive, and productive.  I started to pay more attention to the common traits among professionals who seemed to balance a lot of responsibility without being overwhelmed as compared to those who function in chaos.  I began to adopt strategies that have progressively gotten me further away from a reactive state and more into a proactive state. Tune in to hear more!  And…. If you want a deeper look into how I manage my time or need help developing your own strategies for getting more done in less time, I have a few 1:1 coaching slots available.   Jump on a free 15-minute discovery call with me to learn how life and time management coaching can help you boost productivity and efficiency so that you can create better work-life balance.  I hope this episode blesses you! Do you find yourself getting frustrated that your spouse, your boss, or a team member is just not meeting your expectations?  You think that they should just know what they need to do… it should be obvious, and if they cared they would do it!   Today I am talking about a topic that seems like it should be obvious common sense but isn’t for everyone, and probably not even most.   And I am going to go out on a limb but I think it is especially difficult for us as women.     Sometimes we set a lot of expectations in our head, but we aren’t so good about clearly expressing them and truly asking for what we need.  That can lead to a whole lot of disappointment and overwhelm as a partner and as a leader.  I am going to share 5 tips for getting more of what you need from the people in your sphere of influence, whether that is your spouse, your friend, your mother, your leader, or the people you lead.    You need to turn up the volume if you have ever found yourself thinking or saying, “I shouldn’t have to ask…he should just know…”   I hope this episode blesses you!   Xoxo, Tanya P.S. Do you know what it means to be fueled by grace in your marriage? As busy professional women, we sometimes find ourselves surviving more than thriving…existing more than enjoying life.  That can become true of our marriages, too.   Sometimes we give so much of ourselves, we don’t have much left to give in our marriages.  Today we have such a special guest that is going to share a bit of wisdom in regards to marriage and living a joy filled life.  Beatriz Vargas is my special guest host on the show today!   Beatriz is a globally recognized Christian marriage coach, international speaker, and host of The Grace Fueled Wife podcast, which is ranked in the top 1.5% globally.  She has a BS in business management, certification in Prepare-Enrich, and is working on her Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy.  With 15+ years of experience coaching families across the globe, she helps Christian Wives overcome miscommunication to experience greater connection in marriage by implementing her Grace Fueled Marriage Method.   Beatriz has a beautiful story of transformation and reparation of her marriage.  By the grace of God and through her fierce faith, Beatriz has seen victory in her life and marriage…a marriage that was broken but that God redeemed such that they now enjoy a deeply connected marriage and joyful life with their two children in NYC.   In this two-part interview, Beatriz shares a bit of her journey and the key to building healthy boundaries and marriages in partnership with God.   I hope this episode blesses you!   Xoxo, Tanya   If you want to see or know more about Beatriz and all that she has to offer: Listen to the podcast:  The Grace Fueled Wife Website:  https://thegracefueledwife.com   P.S. Today’s topic was inspired by my morning devotional and it occurred to me that the subject matter might qualify as a ‘sneaky second cousin’ to people pleasing.     We have talked a lot about striving for the approval of others in order to be validated or somehow find our value, and how that is an empty pursuit.  But I don’t know how much we have talked about something that can be a bit sneakier in appearing like a good thing as we seek to grow in our faith.    Sometimes we swap seeking to please people with seeking to please God, not from a trust and relational standpoint, but from a works and striving standpoint.  We approach God out of duty more than devotion.     We don’t have to Do anything to earn God’s love.  It has always been there for us. His love for us has no end and it does not grow or decrease based upon our actions.  God does want us to accept his gift of salvation and live a life more like Christ, but that is because He loves us and wants us to experience all of the abundance that comes from living a life that is fully dependent on Him.   Tune in to hear more!    I hope this episode blesses you!   Xoxo, Tanya P.S. Today’s topic is one that is all too familiar to me and the women I coach.  In fact, a recent coaching session is what inspired this episode.  As I work with women to create more time in their busy lives for the things that matter most, it is almost a universal theme that the foundation of their time management challenges comes from a deeply ingrained pattern of people pleasing, overachieving, and/or approval seeking.  Success in time management truly becomes a by-product of working through the deeper issues and patterns that get us to a place of constant “busy ness”.    As I thought about some tools that I have used to break free from the limiting beliefs that result in people pleasing, the exercise I am going to share with you today is one that I do on a regular basis.  It truly keeps me grounded in the present and keeps me focused on the Lord instead of the approval of others.    Today, You are definitely going to want to get a notebook and pen, or listen now and come back with a notebook and a pen for a second listen.  It is very tactical and practical for every day application.      If this message resonates with you and you find yourself needing a partner in navigating patterns of people pleasing that are hijacking your time and mental peace, I would be honored to link arms with you through Christian Life Coaching.  Learn more about that at gracefilledleader.com/coaching.  If you just want to hang out with me here, that’s awesome too!  Either way, it is my desire to serve you!!       I hope this episode blesses you!   Xoxo, Tanya P.S. If you are listening when this episode airs, it is September 11th, 2023.  22 years ago today marks a day in our nation’s history most of us will never forget.  We watched as our great nation was under attack.  Today is a little bit of a break from our typical subject matter, but I thought it worth remembering this day 22 years ago, juxtaposed against where we find ourselves today.  You may agree or disagree with some of my opinions and perspectives, and that’s absolutely ok, but I am going to be honest about what I remember about that day and our response as a nation and about what I am observing today.   I remember exactly what I was doing the morning of September 11th, 2001 when someone at work said we needed to turn on the television.  Everything stopped as we sat in silence and watched the first plane hit the world trade center, then the second, the people jumping to their deaths to escape the flames, and the two towers coming down, killing thousands of Americans.  It was absolutely incomprehensible.  I also remember the response that our nation had in the hours, days, weeks and months that followed.    Sadly, I look at our nation today, and it feels anything but united.  But there is hope, and there is one thing that has the power to unite.   Tune in as I look at how things have changed since that day 22 years ago, and discuss the hope that we have for the future.    I hope this episode blesses you!   Xoxo, Tanya   2023 RENEWED Conference  (Register for FREE) (I do get a small commission if you register with this affiliate link.)   GFL Resources:  More Time Method Strategy Session Christian Life Coaching with Tanya Leave a Message for Tanya     Freebies: 7 Day Gratitude Journal                   Time Audit Tool   Email: support@gracefilledleader.com Community: Christian Women in Leadership Community   If you enjoyed today’s episode, the best way you can thank me is to leave a 5-star rating and a written review on apple podcast.  This is the best way for other listeners to find the show and for me to know how best to serve you with the content you enjoy.   Click on “written review” link above, scroll all the way to the bottom, and click on the little purple link that says “Write a Review”.

This week has given me several really important reminders about what is truly the cornerstone of effective and successful leadership. I wanted to pop in and share a little bit about that with you and give you some tips, and full on Truth with a capital T!     Building trust is hands down, 100% the cornerstone of effective leadership. Before you can hope to accomplish any of the goals you have for your team or your business, it is essential that you first prioritize building relationship and trust.   Being a leader is very different than being a boss. If your sole mission is to accomplish your agenda and control the team, and just be the boss of your department or business, I'm going to lay a bet that you are not going to have a very engaged team.   If you struggle with humility; if you have an intense need to be right or appear as if you don't make mistakes; if you try to suggest that every decision you make is the right one, you are absolutely going to erode the trust and respect of your team members.   It's really hard to be a leader, and it is really difficult to show humility.  But here’s the truth, a good leader needs to be ready to eat some crow sometimes. There are plenty of times in my leadership journey where I've had to do that or I should have done that. And if I had or when I did it actually built trust and respect with my team members. They need to know that you make mistakes, that you don’t have all of the answers, but you are committed to growing and learning what it means to lead them well.  Your team is essential to your success.  Your success is their success.     Tune in to hear more about the importance of trust in successful leadership.
