Following the global movement of outrage, heartbreak and ‘Black Lives Matter’ protests after the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Alan, Greg and Scott talk about what they’re learning about systemic racism, justice and what it means to be allies to those who are victims of oppression. This episode is called ‘The First Of Many Conversations’ because we’re conscious that three white men talking about race is nobody’s ideal and that, though we want to speak up rather than be silent, we’re committed to using our (small) platform to amplify those whose voices the world needs right now. We hope this will be the first of many such conversations that will include people of colour and others from marginalised groups. As we mention in the show, you may find it more helpful to listen to our interview with author and activist Lisa Sharon Harper in Episode 167 which you can find here.Resources mentioned in the show: ‘Redemption: The John M. As the COVID-19 crisis continues, the lads explore the variety of ways in which people seek to be part of a church online. Is it a crucial resource for those that are not served well by most churches? Or is it a cop out that removes the call to be part of an in-person community? And what does it mean for our understandings of worship, forgiveness and sacrament?Listen on iTunes: https://goo.gl/hRnE2oListen on Google Podcasts: https://bit.ly/31blJZFFollow the Graveyard Shift on Twitter: https://goo.gl/Ea8GxZSupport the Show on Patreon: https://goo.gl/BOSFEx

With everything that's happening in the world at the moment, Al, Greg and Scott decided to discuss the coronavirus, how the outbreak has made us feel and what it looks like for Christians to respond well to it. [This show is slightly edited because it was recorded before the Irish government made a lot of recommendations for cancelling public events. Some of the information is already out of date but we felt that some of the ideas we discussed were still worth putting out into the world!]Follow the Graveyard Shift on Twitter.Follow the Graveyard Shift on Facebook.Support the Show on Patreon.
