Food mislabeling is rampant.  In the Truth about Cancer Volume 2, Further Dr. Veronique in her 7 point system for preventing and curing cancer states that food is your medicine. Well if food is our medicine why aren’t we eating healthy nutritious food?  Simple, the food industry is shoveling lies down your throat literally.  One of the biggest frauds perpetrated on the American public (my opinion) is the low fat, non fat “healthy alternatives”  artificial food.  The industry has removed fat that your body needs, and substituted chemicals and sugar to return flavor.  Imagine what it takes to make a soy bean taste like a hamburger. Then to add insult to injury they sell you omega 3,6,9, tablets because you don’t get enough of these healthy fats in your diet,  Imagine! So let’s take healthy fats out of the food, substitute white refined sugar which is a known poison and carcinogen, put in some artificial flavor and color, call it food then sell pills with fat in them because we took the out of the food,  HHMM Makes sense  right? Look it is really quite simple, the disease rate in America is skyrocketing and the causes are obvious to all except the perpetrators who are happily profiting from your demise.  The challenge we face us twofold 1 the government appears to be complicit. 2, The effects are cumulative and take a long time to rear their ugly head, Read on for more and go to my blog at www.lenmooney.com

The Best Year Of Your Life Health Challenge What would be required to make this the best health year of your life?  For each of us, the answer is different.  We generally know what it takes to be healthy:  eat right, exercise, sleep, supplements, but again, for each of us, the starting point is different and the starting conditions aren’t the same.  You may be overweight or maybe not, you might work out 5 times per week, but maybe not.  So each of us has a different set of requirements but let’s agree on one thing Health is important. Your Health Without our health, we got nothing. Sadly as many know, you are on a collision course with destiny preordained by the food and pharmaceutical industry.  No matter your present age, If you follow a traditional western regimen, you will get sick.  It is not a matter of if, it is a matter of when. Right now in what should be the healthiest system on the planet, 29% of all people are dead before age 65.  Many people live the last 10years of their life with chronic illness that are preventable.  One of the primary reason for “old age homes” is people cannot get on and off the pot without assistance.  This is preventable.  Alzheimer’s is on the rise along with cancer.  Type 2 diabetes are cardiovascular disease are rampant and growing in our society.  Yet we believe that based on Telomere shortening, 120 years should be easily within reach for most people and should come with good health. We also know that many of these diseases are preventable or can be mitigated by being proactive and getting after your own health It’s truly far easier and much less costly to prevent rather than cure illness. Especially major illness such as liver and kindly disease, cardiovascular disease and cancer.  So let’s get started.

Healthy wealthy & Active Aging podcast - episode 14

Oxidatve stress and your body The body is under constant attack from oxidative stress. Oxygen in the body splits into single atoms with unpaired electrons. Electrons like to be in pairs, so these single oxygen atoms, also known as free radicals, scavenge the body seeking an electron so they can “mate”. This causes damage to cells, proteins, DNA and consequently, body organs. Free Radicals  Free radicals are associated with human disease, including cancer, atherosclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and many others. They also may have a link to aging, which has been defined as a gradual accumulation of free-radical damage, according to Christopher Wanjek, the Bad Medicine columnist for Live Science.  Substances that generate free radicals can be found in the food we eat, the medicines we take, the air we breathe and the water we drink, according to the Huntington's Outreach Project for Education at Stanford University. These substances include fried foods, alcohol, tobacco smoke, pesticides and air pollutants.    When free radicals accumulate, they frequently cause a state known as oxidative stress. This may damage your DNA and other important structures in your cells.  Sadly, chronic oxidative stress can increase your risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes and cancer  According to naturopathic doctor Donielle Wilson’s website, symptoms of oxidative stress may also include fatigue, headaches, noise sensitivity, memory loss, brain fog, muscle and joint pain, wrinkles and gray hair, vision trouble and decreased immunity.    Antioxidants  Antioxidants are compounds produced in your body and found in foods. They help defend your cells from damage caused by these potentially harmful free radicals.  Fortunately, eating a diet rich in antioxidants can help increase your blood antioxidant levels to fight oxidative stress and reduce the risk of these diseases. Success: What Does It Mean For You Len Mooney here, the creator of the healthy wealthy and active aging society and the Ultimate Vision Workshop coming to you today from my home office overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean in Baja California Today I would like to discuss some characteristic of success and what it might mean for you. Most people think of success as having money, or possessions such as a big house .  But is that really success?  There are many wealthy people whom I would characterize as having little or no success.  They have material possessions but have lost their family or their health (or both). There is also the opposite.  Some of the poorest people in the world are also the happiest with close family ties, community and dignity.  What makes the difference.  To me success is living the life you want to live with no regrets (except perhaps that it didn’t last long enough – it never does really, does it?) If you leave your success to randomness, you will always be mediocre.  So what does it take to find and feel successful? Let’s look at some characteristics of high performers, people who seem to be achieving a pinnacle of success in many areas of life High performers deeply care about the difference they are making in the lives of others.  This is a characteristic that surfaces time and again.  Contribution is more important than financial reward.  High performers are also not necessarily in it for the traditional rewards.  Sure, they care about financial rewards and trophies but not to the extent you might imagine. High performers ask “How can I be of service here?  They are not asking what’s in it for me.  They work toward developing people, not just skills. Now don’t get me wrong, skills are vitally important but, people are the backbone of any business or endeavor. High performance isn’t a natural strength, it is a result of specific habits “When you knock on the door of opportunity, don’t be surprised if work answers”   Real success doesn’t come from doing what’s easy, right, or convenient.  It comes from trading in comfort and convenience for greater purpose and challenge. It’s also not about being happy or not happy with what you already have.  It is possible to be wildly happy with what you have and still desire to achieve more and contribute at a higher level. Jim Rohn taught us, “Motivation is what gets you started, habit is what keeps you going”  That led Brendon Burchard to write the book “High Performance Habits” of which he lists six habits that all high performers seem to have.  I am not intending to review Brendon’s book here but, suffice it to say there is great value there.  Brendon has spent the last 10 years researching and studying consistent high performers and identified six habits that are characteristic.  The first one is clarity which is really what I am discussing here. Clarity, or as I call it, vision is essential to success and sadly very few people really have a clear vision of where they are going in life. You live in a YOUniverse, you get to create your YOUniverse with your thoughts feelings, emotions and beliefs.  So create wisely my friend. Let’s start with YOUR vision, your self-awareness.  You must know what your core values are, what your strengths and weaknesses are and, perhaps most importantly, where do you want to go. Once you have this vision of where you want to go, then a specific plan for how to get there is essential So do you know who you are?  Can you see, with clarity, the destination?   Are you clear about your values, strengths and weaknesses? Do you have a clear vision of your future or is it a haphazard, ho hum, we’ll see what tomorrow brings strategy.  Most people are on a collision course with reality and it ain’t pretty.  Like a ship floating aimlessly at sea with no rudder or sails, the majority of people land on the reefs of life.  So follow a different path from the herd.  If you follow the same path everyone else is on, you’ll get the same result that everyone else gets.  Following a different path requires non-conformity and boldness Successful people do not accept conformity or mediocrity.  They plunge boldly ahead where no other men (or woman) fear to tread Dean Graziosi advises us to think through what makes your heart smile and write it down.  To make a change in any area of your life, start with a first step.  Make a vision, a plan and write it down.  Confidence builds and doubt dies when your heart is aligned with your actions. Operate with the philosophy that life happens for you, not to you and every obstacle is an opportunity to learn, develop new skill, and grow. Finally SMILE! Success and high achievement demands you “put on a happy face” even in adversity. A final thought from Marie Forleo, “Everything is figureoutable” so smile (it tricks your brain into thinking you must be happy) and go for it.  You deserve it.  Success is within your reach if you believe it is, plan for it and work to achieve it!

The Healthy Wealthy & Active Aging Podcast - 10

My mission today is to help you understand the contemporary science that is opening the door to extended life with health.  How would it feel if I told you that you could live past 100 maybe even 120 or 140 and be vibrant healthy and wealthy?  How would that make you feel?  For the last 150 years science has taught us what is known as genetic determinism.  The idea of genetic determinism is that our genes control our destiny and since we inherit our genes from our parents and their lineage, we are basically victims of our heredity.  What if science had it all wrong?  The new science of epigenetics is telling us that nothing could be further from the truth.  We are now learning that we have complete control over how our genes express themselves and we can choose our destiny.  This includes living longer than we have ever imagined and being in good health as we do it In today's podcast I will give you a brief history of science and explain how we got here and reveal what the new understanding is telling us.  I hope you will be amazed and delighted.

The Challenge of Healthy Aging in America We have a real and verifiable challenge when it comes to healthy aging in America. I am so sorry your parent is not feeling well.  I know you’re not feeling well either.  In the past you have reacted with disbelief when I told you that perhaps I could help.  Your comment was that you trusted the doctors.  How is that working out for you?  You have personally been ill for years.  Are the doctors helping or is it perhaps that there are things they don’t know? The State Of The Medical Profession Healthy aging in America requires a fundmental change in our approach to health care.  Doctors are primarily trained by Big Pharma.  The pharmaceutical companies fund the research at major hospitals and universities and often sit on the board of directors so they can “oversee” how their money is being spent for research.   So naturally, the schools teach what the drug companies want the doctors to know and the hospitals administer what the drug companies tell them to.  It is really that simple. To a great extent drugs are not designed nor intended to cure anything.  They are designed to control symptoms and create lifetime customers. The State Of The Food Industry Healthy aging in America requires eating healthy, nutritious food. Sadly the food industry has also been compromised in America.  Packaged foods are loaded with additives, preservatives and sugar.  Many of these are known carcinogens, neurotoxins, hormone disruptors and just plain ugly stuff (technical term).  Sadly in my opinion, one of the worst frauds ever perpetrated on the American people is the low fat, non fat business.  The food industry removes all the good fats (the ones your body actually needs) and replaces them with chemicals and sugar to restore flavor.  Look at obesity in America and you will see the result of low fat, high sugar intake diets. The Rise Of Disease In America In the last 50 years over 80,000 new chemicals have been introduced in America.  With minor exception, no human testing has been done.  There is no agency with the money the manpower, and the time to test 80,000 chemicals for their effects on health and longevity of human life.  So the operating model is it is safe until people begin to die.  Sadly, even when people die, it is controversial because it is hard to prove cause and effect so the chemical industry continues unregulated and the disease rate climbs astronomically.  The graph below is from the move “Stink” and is an example of the apparent correlation between the growth of disease in the US and new chemicals being introduced. The Aging Process Many people spend their last 10 years sick with a debilitating disease or in a rest home.  Many end up in a rest home because they cannot get on and off the toilet without assistance.  These diseases of old age are not necessary.  They are the end product of a slow but steady poisoning of our bodies with toxins and sugar coupled with lack of exercise and stress in everyday life.  None of this is necessary, all can be avoided.  The choice is yours! What Is The Solution? Again simple! We all know what we need to do.  The formula for healthy aging in America is eat good healthy food,  get the right amount of exercise and the right amount of rest daily.  In addition we must be proactive to remove toxins as much as possible from our everyday lives. It’s not as hard as you might think.  But it begins with eliminating packaged food and sugar in our diet and eating as close to nature as is reasonable.  There are simple steps each of us can take to help insure our health into old age and improve our chances of longevity. You Are The Solution You can easily and effectively and inexpensively begin to change out your household products for safer, less toxic alternatives.  For example,  just changing out your toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner can reduce your morning chemical intake by up to 75 toxic substances.  We all want our home to be as safe as possible.  Shouldn't your home be the safest place on the planet for you and your family.

The Healthy, Wealthy & Active Aging Podcat #7 Alzheimer's & Your Brain

The Healthy, Wealthy & Active Aging Podcats #7 Alzheimer’s and Your Healthy Brain One of the scariest propositions of old age is memory decline.  No one wants to lose the ability to recognize their spouse or children or get lost walking around the block. Many Alzheimer’s patients spend their final years in a rest home totally incapable of caring for themselves, a very sad, but possibly preventable state of affairs. According to The National Institute on Aging Alzheimer’s disease is an irreversible, progressive brain disorder that slowly destroys memory and thinking skills, and eventually the ability to carry out the simplest tasks. In most people with Alzheimer’s, symptoms first appear in their mid-60s. Estimates vary, but experts suggest that more than 5 million Americans may have Alzheimer’s. Alzheimer's disease is currently ranked as the sixth leading cause of death in the United States, but recent estimates indicate that the disorder may rank third, just behind heart disease and cancer, as a cause of death for older people. The Challenge of Healthy aging in America I am a water skier and snow skier and generally outdoors oriented.  I have been blessed to be healthy  even though I have had challenges but,  as one friend recently said, also stubborn.  I would like to send an anonymous message to a friend. We have a real and verifiable challenge when it comes to healthy aging in America. And your mom, no surprise, predictable!  You and your mom are killing yourself slowly, but most assuredly, with your diet.  Much of the food supply in America is compromised so severely as to barely resemble food.  Pesticides, herbicides, GMO’s and sugar in heavily processed food are taking its toll daily.  Look at America.   In recent years the disease rates have skyrocketed.  Cancer, obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, kidney and liver disease are rampant and the answer from medicine, which is completely controlled by big pharma, is pop another pill.  This episode of the Healthy Wealthy and Active Aging Podcast is intended in part to address some of these issues and provide alternatives

The Road To Prosperity Would you like to be free?  Free from debt?  Free from worry? Free from anxiety?  Free from tossing and turning at night?  Free to live your life on your terms, go where you want to go, with the people you want to go with and do the things you want to do?  Well listen up!  It is possible.  1700 people become a millionaire each and every day in the United States and you have that same opportunity.  Does that number seem high?  It is.  But it is also true.  We live in a land of incredible opportunity, in a golden age of history.  Never before has so much been so readily available to so many at such a low cost as today in these good ole United States and much of the rest of the free world. By the way, in case you didn’t know it, over 80% of millionaires have one thing in common – they own their own business.  With the availability of the internet, social media and smart phones, you can build a business from the backseat of your car, on your lunch hour, with very little expense. In what should arguably be the wealthiest society on earth with the best health care system available, the statistics shown below are sadly true.  You are on a collision course with destiny and unless you are taking action to avoid it, you will probably spend the last 10 years of your life in a rest home unable to fully function and care for yourself. Will you take action?  Will you “see” the future and take action to steer your ship of life away from the reef of mediocrity, of disaster?  That choice is yours.
