In this empowering episode of The His and Her Money Show, hosts Talaat and Tai have an inspiring conversation with pastor, author, and influencer Paul Daugherty. Paul is the lead pastor of Victory Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which was founded by his parents in 1981. He took over leadership of the church in 2014 after the sudden passing of his father. In addition to pastoring Victory Church, Paul is also a popular podcaster and author. His new book "Mind Games: Winning the Battle in Your Mind" shares his powerful story of overcoming depression, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, and more after becoming a young widow and unexpectedly taking the helm of his family's influential ministry. Through biblical lessons, personal stories, and practical insights, "Mind Games" provides a blueprint for readers to gain victory over the debilitating mind games that hold so many people back from living a purposeful and fulfilling life. In this episode, Paul opens up about his mental health battles and how he was able to turn the corner through faith, counseling, trusting his loved ones, and the realization that the “master key” to victory was within him all along through Christ. He also shares wisdom on avoiding the mind games of comparison and jealousy, pursuing spiritual health alongside mental health, involving your spouse in your journey, and finding true success through obedience to God's calling. Key Takeaways: Paul shares his personal story of dealing with depression, suicidal thoughts, and anxiety after the sudden passing of his father and taking on leadership of his family's church at a young age. He explains how an encounter at his church helped him realize he had the "master key" to victory in Christ all along. This shifted his mindset and enabled him to start overcoming his inner battles. Paul stresses the importance of inviting your spouse into your mental health journey and getting counseling if needed. He apologized to his wife for not properly including her in his grief early in their marriage. To avoid falling into the mind game of comparison, Paul had to repent to his pastor friend Mike Todd for being jealous of Mike's viral success. Paul emphasizes focusing on your growth and purpose, not someone else's success. A kingdom win for one person is a win for all. Benefits of pursuing mental health: More peace, joy, better sleep, less need for others' approval. The real success is obedience to what God called you to do. In the book "Mind Games", Paul shares personal stories and reflections, Bible passages, and counseling insights to help people gain victory over various mind games like depression, anxiety, jealousy, inadequacy, and more. Embarking on the path toward realizing our dreams is a journey laden with uncertainties and challenges. In this quest, goals stand as the guiding stars that illuminate our way through the darkness of uncertainty. Like a roadmap leading to the destination of our dreams, goals play an indispensable role in shaping our efforts and channeling our energies. They serve as the foundation upon which we build the steps towards our aspirations, providing a clear direction and purpose to our endeavors.  Without a defined goal, the journey becomes akin to sailing without a compass, leaving us adrift in a sea of possibilities without a destination. Therefore, understanding the pivotal role of goals in our pursuit of dreams unravels the key to unlocking success in the pursuit of any ambition. In the playbook of every dream-chaser, the significance of setting specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound goals cannot be overstated. These goals serve as milestones, marking our progress and offering tangible evidence of our journey's advancement. By breaking down our overarching dreams into smaller, manageable goals, we create a roadmap that transforms our aspirations from abstract desires into concrete, achievable steps. In today's fast-paced world, where unhealthy food options and sedentary lifestyles have become the norm, the pursuit of a healthier life has become increasingly important. One emerging concept that holds great promise in this quest is metabolic flexibility. Metabolic flexibility refers to the body's ability to efficiently switch between different energy sources and adapt to changing nutritional conditions. By cultivating metabolic flexibility, individuals can not only improve their overall health but also enhance their physical performance and potentially reduce the risk of chronic diseases. Metabolic flexibility is closely linked to the body's ability to use both carbohydrates and fats as sources of energy. In a metabolically flexible state, the body can effortlessly shift between burning carbohydrates during periods of high-intensity exercise or increased energy demand and utilizing stored fats during periods of fasting or low-intensity activities. This adaptability provides numerous benefits, including improved insulin sensitivity, enhanced fat oxidation, and better control over appetite and food cravings. By adopting lifestyle strategies such as regular physical activity, balanced nutrition, and intermittent fasting, individuals can promote metabolic flexibility and pave the way for a healthier, more vibrant life. In this episode of The His and Her Money Show, we are joined by Dr. Ian Smith, The author of the book: The Met Flex Diet, to talk about the importance of metabolic flexibility in the journey to living a healthier life. Dr. Ian shares the meaning of the term metabolic flexibility, why we should strive to attain metabolic flexibility, and what people working from home should do to attain metabolic flexibility. He also talks about how intermittent fasting plays a part in the journey to metabolic flexibility. Tune in to learn more!   What You Will Learn: The origin of Dr. Ian’s deep passion for writing books Dr. Ian’s reaction to the statement, ‘Your health is your wealth’ The similarities between the people who hold Dr. Ian’s teachings and those who don’t The meaning of the term metabolic flexibility Why we should strive to attain metabolic flexibility What people working from home should do to attain metabolic flexibility HIIT, the most optimal way to exercise  Matching your eating and exercise to get to a better health position Getting your mind right for a better lifestyle and a better life How intermittent fasting plays a part in the journey to metabolic flexibility The three different types of intermittent fasting The ability of the Met Flex Diet Advice for people starting their journey to metabolic flexibility   Resources Mentioned: The book: The Met Flex Diet The book: The Take-Control Diet (FREE) Debt Freedom Blueprint   Connect with Dr. Ian Smith: Website: https://doctoriansmith.com/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/DrIanSmith Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/doctoriansmith/
In the journey of faith, there are moments when we may find ourselves grappling with the disconcerting feeling that God is not being obedient to our wishes or desires, seemingly unresponsive to our earnest prayers. In these challenging moments, doubt and uncertainty can cast shadows upon our faith, leaving us questioning our beliefs and relationship with the Divine. However, during these moments of spiritual disquiet, we are invited to embark on a profound exploration of our faith, seeking deeper insights and understanding of God's mysterious ways.  It is through navigating these difficult passages that we may ultimately discover the profound lessons of patience, trust, and humility, unraveling the true essence of our relationship with the Divine and finding solace in the wisdom of surrendering to a greater plan beyond our comprehension. In this episode of The His and Her Money Show, we are joined by Albert Tate, the founding and lead pastor of Fellowship Church in Los Angeles County, California, to talk about his latest book: Disobedient God. Pastor Albert shares his motivation behind writing the book: Disobedient God, how he bounced back from the disappointment of what God chose to do, ways to assess our relationship with god, and learning to be patient with God during the hard times. He also talks about the importance of acknowledging our pain and disappointments when Disobedient God shows up and how we can build a strong relationship with God during tough times. I was just listening to your podcast about estate planning. I wanted to let you know that Suze Orman offers all of these: wills, trusts, financial power of attorney, medical power of attorney, etc in an online package "Must Have Documents" created by her personal attorney (these are the documents she personally has as well) for $69 for an individual or for a family. My husband and I bought these, filled them out, got them all notarized, and then funded the trust (meaning put our house, bank accounts, etc all under the name of the trust). EVERYONE should have these and Suze makes it so you don't have to pay an attorney hundreds or thousands of dollars!!!

I enjoyed listening to the Hartzog's story. The interesting side of their story was that they made known, considered, and planned for the things they were not willing to give up (e.g. trips).
