Description

We are the official podcast of IndianaHQ. Our mission and goal is simple: we want to bring in-depth analysis and coverage for Indiana University sports to as many fans as possible across a multitude of modern platforms. "The Hoosier Sound" was founded in 2017 by Noah Freeman and Matt Lukens who had a passion for all IU sports. The guys wanted to give listeners analysis of programs such as Indiana basketball, Indiana football, Indiana soccer, Indiana women's basketball, Indiana baseball, Indiana swim and dive, and more. We also do a daily IU sports news roundup called "Hoosier Sound-Off."

Release the Bracket! [134]

2020-03-2501:10:11

It's time for the NCAA Tournament bracket! Ok, it isn't the official bracket because the NCAA did not want to publish the field of 68 after cancelling the 2020 NCAA Tournament, but it's the next best thing. We have teamed up with Assembly Call and are discussing their bracket like it was the official bracket that was released. We have some fun amidst a time with no sports and talk about what could have been the 2020 NCAA Tournament bracket. Who are some of the potential upsets, where did Indiana fall, who has a shot at the National Title? All discussed in good fun on this week's episode of "The Hoosier Sound."Check us out and follow us on social media!WEBSITE: https://www.indianahq.com/ • Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheHoosierSound • Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thehoosiersound/ • iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/id1282226985?mt=2&ls=1 • Google Podcasts: https://www.google.com/podcasts?feed=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5zcHJlYWtlci5jb20vc2hvdy8yNjc3NTkyL2VwaXNvZGVzL2ZlZWQ • Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0lk71fzLgbLP76iPNA14cP • SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/user-429075463-810819009 • iHeartRadio: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound-28550408/?cmp=web_share • TuneIn Radio: http://tun.in/pi2cE • Stitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound
One Wild Week [133]

One Wild Week [133]

2020-03-1853:30

It's no secret this has been one of the craziest weeks not just in the sports world, but globally. After the Hoosiers played their final game of the 2019-2020 season, defeating Nebraska in the two games of the Big Ten Tournament, the sports world halted only hours later. Conference tournaments were canceled, the NCAA Tournament was canceled, and almost every sports program either canceled or put their season on pause as the world is trying to stop the spread of COVID-19. The guys react to something the world has not seen in a long time and give their thoughts on everything that has gone on.Check us out and follow us on social media!WEBSITE: https://www.indianahq.com/ • Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheHoosierSound • Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thehoosiersound/ • iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/id1282226985?mt=2&ls=1 • Google Podcasts: https://www.google.com/podcasts?feed=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5zcHJlYWtlci5jb20vc2hvdy8yNjc3NTkyL2VwaXNvZGVzL2ZlZWQ • Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0lk71fzLgbLP76iPNA14cP • SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/user-429075463-810819009 • iHeartRadio: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound-28550408/?cmp=web_share • TuneIn Radio: http://tun.in/pi2cE • Stitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound
Not the best week Hoosier fans may have hoped for, but they did rack up one win against Minnesota before losing to Wisconsin at home. Their Big Ten Standings fate is sealed, and they are the No. 11 seed. They will be facing the No. 14 seed, Nebraska Cornhuskers. This week, the guys talk about the two home games that happened this week before diving into the Big Ten Tournament and all of the scenarios that involve the Hoosiers. Are they still in if they lose to Nebraska? Are they safe with beating the Huskers and losing the next game?Check us out and follow us on social media!WEBSITE: https://www.indianahq.com/ • Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheHoosierSound • Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thehoosiersound/ • iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/id1282226985?mt=2&ls=1 • Google Podcasts: https://www.google.com/podcasts?feed=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5zcHJlYWtlci5jb20vc2hvdy8yNjc3NTkyL2VwaXNvZGVzL2ZlZWQ • Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0lk71fzLgbLP76iPNA14cP • SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/user-429075463-810819009 • iHeartRadio: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound-28550408/?cmp=web_share • TuneIn Radio: http://tun.in/pi2cE • Stitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound

Men's basketball lost two road games this week, but they were not blowouts. The Hoosiers battled back against Purdue after going down in the second half and fought Illinois to the final second of the game. After a questionable call in the final seconds at Illinois, the Hoosiers find themselves at 8-10 in conference play with a much-needed victory coming up against Minnesota this Wednesday. The guys break the last week down as well as look towards the final few games and how Indiana can punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament. Two more home games, and at least one Big Ten Tournament game. Will fans be biting their nails on Selection Sunday, or will they be sitting somewhat-comfy waiting for their seeding.Check us out and follow us on social media!WEBSITE: https://www.indianahq.com/ • Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheHoosierSound • Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thehoosiersound/ • iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/id1282226985?mt=2&ls=1 • Google Podcasts: https://www.google.com/podcasts?feed=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5zcHJlYWtlci5jb20vc2hvdy8yNjc3NTkyL2VwaXNvZGVzL2ZlZWQ • Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0lk71fzLgbLP76iPNA14cP • SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/user-429075463-810819009 • iHeartRadio: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound-28550408/?cmp=web_share • TuneIn Radio: http://tun.in/pi2cE • Stitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound

MID-PODCAST the commitment comes out from Khristian Lander that he is committing to Indiana. Absolute HUGE week for the Hoosiers. Last week, we discussed how 1-1 against Minnesota and Penn State would be ideal, and not many people expected the Hoosiers to win BOTH games. Indiana got a Q1-win on the road against Minnesota as well as a statement victory over No. 9 Penn State for their second straight Q1 victory. The guys talk about how the Hoosiers are now firmly back in the tournament discussion with two big victories. There is still work to do, but everyone can momentarily breath a sign of relief. What do the Hoosiers need to do now in order to finish the season strong and not hold their breath on Selection Sunday? Then, we discuss how big of a commitment this is for the Hoosiers and Archie Miller.Check us out and follow us on social media!WEBSITE: https://www.indianahq.com/ • Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheHoosierSound • Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thehoosiersound/ • iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/id1282226985?mt=2&ls=1 • Google Podcasts: https://www.google.com/podcasts?feed=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5zcHJlYWtlci5jb20vc2hvdy8yNjc3NTkyL2VwaXNvZGVzL2ZlZWQ • Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0lk71fzLgbLP76iPNA14cP • SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/user-429075463-810819009 • iHeartRadio: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound-28550408/?cmp=web_share • TuneIn Radio: http://tun.in/pi2cE • Stitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound

The Hoosiers broke their losing streak this past week by defeating #21 Iowa in Bloomington to get back to winning. They broke their four game losing streak on a night where Devonte Green had another big game. However, the winning did not last as the Hoosiers yet again could not play consistently on the road. The guys are joined by former Wolverine, Anthony Wright who hosts "A Michigan State of Mind" podcast to discuss Indiana vs. both Michigan's recently. They get a Michigan perspective on the game, as well as a former player's perspective on how this Indiana team is producing this season and what might be causing the inconsistencies. A fresh look from a non-Indiana fan is what this week's podcast is all about.Check us out and follow us on social media!WEBSITE: https://www.indianahq.com/ • Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheHoosierSound • Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thehoosiersound/ • iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/id1282226985?mt=2&ls=1 • Google Podcasts: https://www.google.com/podcasts?feed=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5zcHJlYWtlci5jb20vc2hvdy8yNjc3NTkyL2VwaXNvZGVzL2ZlZWQ • Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0lk71fzLgbLP76iPNA14cP • SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/user-429075463-810819009 • iHeartRadio: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound-28550408/?cmp=web_share • TuneIn Radio: http://tun.in/pi2cE • Stitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound

4-game losing streak, but that seems like the least of this Hoosier basketball team's problems. A day day built with much anticipation, the Hoosiers played like they have been most of the season and lost another crucial home game. On the other hand, there was one major event that took place over the weekend we can focus on. After 20 years, former Coach Bob Knight came back to Assembly Hall for the first time with the 1979-1980 team. The guys talk about another frustrating performance against the Boilermakers, as well as the bigger news with Knight's return. They turn that discussion into a bigger one, is this season lost? Or is there a way for the team to turn it around to find themselves playing in the big dance. Not only will their play have to improve, but they now have to find victory on the road.Check us out and follow us on social media!WEBSITE: https://www.indianahq.com/ • Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheHoosierSound • Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thehoosiersound/ • iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/id1282226985?mt=2&ls=1 • Google Podcasts: https://www.google.com/podcasts?feed=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5zcHJlYWtlci5jb20vc2hvdy8yNjc3NTkyL2VwaXNvZGVzL2ZlZWQ • Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0lk71fzLgbLP76iPNA14cP • SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/user-429075463-810819009 • iHeartRadio: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound-28550408/?cmp=web_share • TuneIn Radio: http://tun.in/pi2cE • Stitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound

Tough week for the Hoosier mens program as they went on the road, twice, to face Penn State and Ohio State. They did not play as well as they had been the previous two weeks, and lost their third straight game against Ohio State this past Saturday. With how the Hoosiers played, we can take one major factor from this week: home games are important. The Hoosiers are still 15-7 overall, and need at least 5 more victories to feel comfortable about breaking the NCAA Tournament streak of not playing in the big dance in March. Five more home games, four more road games. Win the home games, you reach the minimum goal for the season. Can the Hoosiers ever play well on the road this season? Will they be able to get those five victories in the final nine regular-season games? Lots of discussion to be had after a three-game losing streak.Check us out and follow us on social media!WEBSITE: https://www.indianahq.com/ • Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheHoosierSound • Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thehoosiersound/ • iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/id1282226985?mt=2&ls=1 • Google Podcasts: https://www.google.com/podcasts?feed=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5zcHJlYWtlci5jb20vc2hvdy8yNjc3NTkyL2VwaXNvZGVzL2ZlZWQ • Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0lk71fzLgbLP76iPNA14cP • SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/user-429075463-810819009 • iHeartRadio: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound-28550408/?cmp=web_share • TuneIn Radio: http://tun.in/pi2cE • Stitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound

What a week of nail-biting performances from the Hoosier basketball team. In a year where home-court is especially important in the Big Ten, despite having two tough opponents in Assembly Hall this week, they needed to come away win at least one victory. If it were not for a crazy last minute by Maryland, the Hoosiers would have won an improbable two games this week. Despite the last few seconds of a loss to Maryland most recently, the Hoosiers did come from behind to take the lead and they beat the best in the conference, Michigan State. The Hoosiers are at least trending in the right direction and cutting down on their more poorer performances. The guys talk about the two recent games and how this team is now progressing. The Hoosiers have two roads games coming up this week and what do the Hoosiers need to do or keep doing to get into the tournament?Check us out and follow us on social media!WEBSITE: https://www.indianahq.com/ • Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheHoosierSound • Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thehoosiersound/ • iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/id1282226985?mt=2&ls=1 • Google Podcasts: https://www.google.com/podcasts?feed=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5zcHJlYWtlci5jb20vc2hvdy8yNjc3NTkyL2VwaXNvZGVzL2ZlZWQ • Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0lk71fzLgbLP76iPNA14cP • SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/user-429075463-810819009 • iHeartRadio: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound-28550408/?cmp=web_share • TuneIn Radio: http://tun.in/pi2cE • Stitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound

The men's basketball program started their week of basketball by falling to Rutgers on the road in another game of poor shooting. They followed that performance up, however, by scoring most points then they have in one and a half months to defeat the Nebraska Cornhuskers on the road. The Hoosiers now have only one of seven road victories in conference play. Road victories are hard to come by this season, no matter who the opponent is. The guys breakdown the important victory before going into how the Hoosiers can get to 20 wins on the season. It is believed that 20 wins is the number to get in order to break the three year streak of not participating in the NCAA Tournament. Indiana Basketball is back! At least for one game. The Hoosiers took on No. 11 Ohio State in a rocking Assembly Hall this past Saturday and came away with a much needed victory. Fans were on the brink of losing hope for this season after what happened last year, but for now, everything is at ease as this past weekend is more evidence of how hard it is to win on the road in the Big Ten, no matter the matchup. Speaking of road play, the Hoosiers have to keep their momentum up by traveling to New Brunswick to face Rutgers this Wednesday. The guys break down the big victory, as well as their two road games coming up this week against Rutgers and Nebraska.Check us out and follow us on social media!WEBSITE: https://www.indianahq.com/ • Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheHoosierSound • Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thehoosiersound/ • iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/id1282226985?mt=2&ls=1 • Google Podcasts: https://www.google.com/podcasts?feed=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5zcHJlYWtlci5jb20vc2hvdy8yNjc3NTkyL2VwaXNvZGVzL2ZlZWQ • Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0lk71fzLgbLP76iPNA14cP • SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/user-429075463-810819009 • iHeartRadio: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound-28550408/?cmp=web_share • TuneIn Radio: http://tun.in/pi2cE • Stitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-hoosier-sound
