As part of our International Women's Day events this March, we held a series of round table discussions with our staff and guests. We discussed various issues relating to intersectional womanhood and equity, and we were able to record our discussion on accessibility. In this discussion, we were joined by Katrin McEntee, from the British Institute of Human Rights. This episode delves into the ways in which services could be made more accessible to marginalised women, including when it comes to disability and language barriers.
This is the first episode in our new series, 'Women and the Cost of Living Crisis', presented by our Programmes Manager Fairuz Choudhury. These episodes will be released monthly, covering the intersecting ways in which the cost of living crisis is affecting women. In this episode, Fairuz speaks to Remy Dhami, Hopscotch's Welfare Advisor, about the ways in which the cost of living crisis is affecting women with disabilities. Remy raises the issue of how disabled mothers are disproportionately affected by the cost of living crisis, as well as the ways in which this crisis is highlighting inequity. Stay tuned for our next episode, which will cover how the cost of living crisis is affecting women with mental health issues.
In the fourth episode of our International Women's Day series, our CEO Benaifer Bhandari talks to Bharvi, Hopscotch's Treasurer. Bharvi shares a fascinating way of thinking of equity, by looking at it through the lens of respect for individuality.
In our third episode, CEO Benaifer Bhandari talks to Shahnaz, Hopscotch's Office Manager and Mental Health Advocate. Shahnaz offers her own insights into equity on a more personal level, and how her experiences and understandings of equity have changed. She discusses how ethnically minoritised women understand inequity deeply, and why labelling the experience is important.
In this episode, our CEO Benaifer Bhandari speaks to Fairuz, our Programmes Manager at Hopscotch Women's Centre. Fairuz is very experienced, and bring a unique view due to her VAWG and human rights expertise. She talks about the importance of intersectionality and trauma informed practice when creating equitable services for women who face violence.
In our first episode, Our CEO Benaifer Bhandari speaks to Remy, a Welfare and Benefits Advisor at Hopscotch Women's Centre. Remy shares what equity means for her, and why she believes it can be achieved through systemic changes.
In this premier episode of The Hopscotch Podcast, our CEO, Benaifer, and COVID-19 Crisis Response Administrator, Frank, discuss the challenges and lessons that COVID-19 presented to Hopscotch.
