Abortion in Black America a Conversation with Dr. Alveda King

Do you know what the leading cause of death in the African American Community since 1973 is? Think about it for a minute. Is it heart disease-2,266,789 deaths since 1973, cancer-1,638,350, or accidents-370,723? Is it AIDS-203,695, or violent crimes-306, 313? There is one possibility that is often overlooked. It happens 1452 times a day in our community. It has taken over 13 million Black lives within the last 30 years. It has taken 1/3 of our present population. What is it? ABORTION! Ecerpt from article Silent No More: A Major Crisis in the African-American Communityby Rev. John J. Raphael, SSJ Howard University, Washington, DC Recently, a friend sent me video of a lovely American Tea Party rally. There was a man holding a sign targeting black women for having so many abortions. I was really awe-struck. I 'd never thought about my community on these terms... But it's true the Centers for Disease Control and the Alan Guttmacher Institute all bear these numbers out. Though most African American politicians and most liberals among which I count myself are pro-choice it's numbers like these that make me concerned for the health and continued well-being of the African American community... On Mon. at 10 AM PST we'll speak with Dr. Alveda King, neice of Dr. Martin Luther King, pro-life activist and author. Dr. King is pro-life, advocate of Proposition 8 and vocal supporter of John McCain... While she's a staunch conservative and I may not agree with her on every front... I find myself emotionally connected to some of the concerns of the pro-life movement. While we may find ourselves on different sides of this fence or straddling the fence as individuals...my question for this morning is What Do Our Pastors Say? Dr. King and Minister Thomas Bowen from the infamous Shiloh Baptist Church in Washington, DC join us. See www.thehourofinterest.com to view a letter From Dr. Alveda King to President Obama in this regard:

Mitrice Richardson... Still Missing? Her Father Michael Richards Speaks

Many of us watching the Mitrice Richardson story unfold feel as lost as she is at this moment.... Conflicting information from the Los Angeles Police Department, stinging accusations of The Lost Hills Police Department and sprinklings of sightings that lead nowhere. The police say there's been no evidence of foul play. Isn't the fact that she's been missing so long evidence of foul play? They say there's nothing to believe that she's been murdered. I hope that's true...but isnt it also true that no one is counted murdered until they've found a body??? Then there's the family. Many of us feel that there's too much emphasis placed on blaming the Sheriffs' instead of finding Mitrice. At 1 PM we have the opportunity to get our questions answered...finally. www.thehourofinterest.com for more.

Mitrice Richardson Still Missing

Mitrice Richardson has been missing since September 17, 2009 when The Lost Hills Police Department released her at 1:15 am to a dark busless highway. Friends and family have deduced that Mitrice must have been suffering from an acute mental crisis that landed her in jail after her bizarre behavior at Geoffrey's Restaurant in Malibu. For some reason on September 16, 2009 Mitrices' evening involved one tragic turn after another. We're trying to find Mitrice, hoping to find her safe. Please tune in to hear from Mitrices'Mom, Latice Sutton and renown Missing Persons Specialist, Lawrence Olmstead. Lawrence has worked in the Ennis Cosby case, the Jonbenet Ramsey Case and even the Caylee Anthony case. I am pleased that he is able to join us as he promises to bring clarity and wisdom to a case with so many questions... Since the police were called due to Mitrice's behavior why didn't they hold her on a 5150? Why did they release her an obviously unstable woman into the night when they had confiscated her cell phone, car, and id? Why didn't they respond to early sightings so that Mitrice could be at home safe right now? Why did they only search for one day?

The American Tea Party's Lloyd Marcus

Lloyd Marcus is an African American supporter of The American Tea Party movement. He's constructed an anthem to the Tea Party crusade that refers to President Obama as a terrorist that threatens to shake the foundation of our country. Lloyd says he just loves America. I think the American Tea Party is a fire stoked by Republicans that want to avoid paying higher taxes. The fire seems to kindled by racism. However, Lloyd says Americans aren't racist. You can find an open letter to Black Leftists on my website at www.yuribrown.blogspot.com. I hope you'll read his letter and listen to his interview. We may be able to learn something we don't know or impart new viewpoints that haven't been heard. Please feel free to call in to speak with Lloyd.

2 Live Crew! Back Again!

No one can argue that 2 Live Crew hasn't had a profound effect on American Music. They went all the way to the Supreme Court arguing the boundaries of their lyrics - and they won. They are noted for being very controversial and in my show we find out exactly what the road they've hewn for 25 years really looks like from the inside. One of the single most defining rap acts in America's History, I enjoyed spending a day with Fresh Kid Ice and Brother Marquis. I asked them some difficult questions and I learned that life doesn't always wrap up in a tiny bow and that sometimes even in success there are no easy answers. Still these guys are really good people, just dreamers dreamin' with skill and talent, like all the rest of us.

"Death Isn't A Destiny. It's a Choice." - Ben Abbas Guest of "The Hour of Interest."

Ben Abbas believes he's in conversation with a 2800 year old man named Lee Chung. He believes based on his knowledge of computer security and fraud investigation that the oldest living people publicly recorded aren't really the oldest living people. He believes that their are immortals living amongst us. I honestly doubt that but I'm intrigued by his conversation that death is a choice, his recounting of the choices that Lee Chung have made that have allowed him to live for so many centuries, the details of his life habits. While it may just be ridiculous tabloid fodder frankly, Ben Abbas, co writer of an inspirational book with Wayne Dwyer, makes some important points. The question for me is are we programmed to die? Conditioned to choose death? Do we actually continually make choices that bring us to our death in the way that Michael chose to get those anesthesia injections? My experience with the deaths that surround me do speak of choices in a way and Ben provides an entryway into that conversation....
