Ryder Cup Preview

2023-09-2701:14:49

Sean and Paul touch on a wide collection of Ryder Cup topics. They start by discussing the short list of sporting events that are better than the Ryder Cup.  They reflect on the Tiger and Phil era ending without a single US victory in Europe, what makes a good match play course, and who has the most to lose. Burke came up with a great topic:If there was an alternate shot 18-hole playoff after a tie on Sunday and the captains picked the opposition's pair, who would they choose? Of course, they finish with their picks. In a podcast first, there's no way both of us will be wrong.... unless there's a tie.LINKS:Watch on YouTubeSubscribe to the Newsletter Baystate Golf on IGSeanMeliaGolf on TwitterBaystateGolf.com
Sean and Paul talk about the Open Championship. Sean shares his thoughts on how his personal major rankings are shifting. They discuss the best players with one major championship and how another major could change how history remembers them. Wimbledon and Carlos Alcaraz stir up thoughts on a match-play major in golf and what player we'd put our money on to win the most majors in the next decade. Finally, they get to their picks, long shots, and trunk slammers.LINKS:Watch on YouTubeSubscribe to the Newsletter Baystate Golf on IGSeanMeliaGolf on TwitterBaystateGolf.com

Then the rest of the pod is a catch-up with Tung about his golfing low-point and how he's digging himself out of it.LINKS:Watch on YouTubeSubscribe to the Newsletter Baystate Golf on IGSeanMeliaGolf on TwitterBaystateGolf.com
Paul joins me to talk about his upcoming trip to Augusta National for Masters Wednesday along with previewing this week's tournament. What's at stake for the LIV golfers? What players have found their way out of the wilderness in the last couple of years? Who is entering the wilderness? Burke wants more Gary Player. And we make our picks for the week.(NOTE: We did the foolish thing of dipping into pre-1995 Masters champions without the list in front of us... 1994 champ was José María Olazábal.)LINKS:Watch on YouTubeSubscribe to the Newsletter Baystate Golf on IGSeanMeliaGolf on TwitterBaystateGolf.com
