It’s the last week of April, my vacation is over, back to the basics. I feel rejuvenated and refreshed , I know I haven’t posted a blog since earlier this month, but I had to hit the reset button. The plan for this post was to show you how I got ready for my birthday celebration this past Saturday but after recording, editing, running out of storage, some of the clips were deleted. I was so sad and frustrated. However, thanks to air drop and e-mail, I was able to retrieve the video!! My actual birthday was April 18th and all I wanted was to spend time with my brothers and I did just that , dinner hosted by my father. One birthday tradition that I do every year with my sister friend Chantel is pick any local bar and bring in our birthdays with a shot or three. Her birthday is exactly 7 days before mine and we have been friends for over 10 years. That’s one thing I always look forward to we laugh and drink and when the clock strikes twelve we throw back a shot! Thursday April 20th was my college best friend birthday and for the past few years we’ve always celebrated our birthdays together. I went out to support him at V Lounge in the strip District in which he is the resident DJ there and it was a great time. Just in case you were wanting outfit details: Dress: Naked Wardrobe Heels: LolaShoetique Clutch: H&M Makeup Done by Me Hair: Braid Out on freshly washed hair Saturday was the Birthday Finale. Although I can do my own hair and makeup I felt like getting pampered. I went to S Spa Pgh for a wash and perm rodset by Shayla. Following my hair appointment I went to get my face beat by my friend Lauren at the Laced  Beauty Bar. I was so prepared for my  birthday I ordered my shoes and dress the first week of April. I always order online so I had to make sure I had enough time to  switch out whatever I couldn’t fit or didn’t like. My brothers and closest girlfriends came out to help me celebrate. We had a VIP section and we had a great time, drinks flowing, dancing , and laughing. Here is my final look for the evening: Denim Jacket: Forever 21 ,  customized by TrendyThis TrendyThat Dress: Naked Wardrobe Boots: Denim Over-the-knee Boots. Kloset Envy
Happy Monday. Hope you’ve all started day 2 of 365 off to a good start towards your goals. We all know the gym tends to be at capacity when the new year rolls around. That’s not a bad thing if you’ve added fitness to your 2017 goals , get it. I work out at 5:30am three days a week and I go to work 9am – 6pm Monday through Friday. My days tend to be long but working out gives me that extra energy I need , along with a good breakfast. Being as though this is the first Monday of the new year I woke up determined to work towards achieving my fitness goal. I have three months until my birthday and this summer I want to be in a bikini and not sucking in my stomach. For 60 minutes my trainer yelled out to me positive comments while I struggled to finish the last sets of each circuit. One thing he said that pushed me: When you came to me you said you wanted to workout and blog and make a living out it. This year will be even better and I’m going to help you accomplish that. He said when you came to me you told me your fitness goals and I told you I’m going to hold you accountable. I am proud of myself for sticking with my trainer and remaining consistent. So for the next three months I am doing a low carb diet. My goals never included losing weight but it included toned legs, and defined abs. Working out is only 20% , the other 80% is eating right. My daily calorie intake is 2100. I use the my fitness pal app to record my daily meals, from breakfast , lunch, dinner , snacks, exercise and water intake. I wanted to share with you today’s workout. 5 minute warm up: * 10 each leg fire hydrants * 50 jumping jacks * 30 high knees * 10 squats Lateral raises 15 x3 Squats 15 x4 Squat jumps 15 x4 10lbs  Lunges 20lbs 10 each leg x3 Followed by step ups holding the 20lbs 10 each leg Followed by 100 turns on the jump rope.  Fire hydrants 12 each leg x3 3 workouts , 2 circuits x10. This isn’t easy and I don’t take much breaks in between sets. My trainer allows 1 minute break before you start the next circuit and quick water breaks in between. I want to continue to inspire you , motivate you to add working out to your daily life. Any questions, tips, feel free to comment below. Thanks for reading. Tweet
WI was dreading meeting my trainer for our first session after 28 days of no weight training. I knew it would be rough. If you workout consistently , if it’s not an emergency that you take time off, I don’t recommend stopping. I train with Akeeme Robinson one of the best fitness trainers in the city of Pittsburgh. I have been training with him since April of this year, for the month of August for various reasons I had to take a break from weight training. Although I took a break from weight training I still managed to fit in jogging, walking two to three times a week just so I can stay active. Before I start my workout I warm up for five minutes: * 100 jump ropes * 15 squat jumps * 15 burpees * 20 high knees First set begins x3 * 20 sit up stand up * 20 arm curls * Jog one way , sprint back Second set x3 * 15 toe touches lying on the mat * 15 arm row each arm * 100 jump rope I was proud of myself I was tired as all hell but I didn’t stop and I needed TWO 16oz water bottles. I wasn’t as tired as thought but I was burnt out quick. My trainer pushed me as he always does and I will be back consistently 3 times per week. I did not gain weight surprisingly because I didn’t eat too great I enjoy working out, I like seeing results and I love how I feel after a good workout. I always end my workout with a protein shake as a post-workout regimen. Have you recently taken a break from working out ? What was it like when you returned to the gym? Tweet
