Our ears perk up as we swing back to a Jim Carrey comedy with the 2008 animated film, Horton Hears a Who. This is the first full length voice acting job for Jim, having only previously voiced an exterminator in Itsy, Bitsy Spider in 1992. We discuss that this is the second Dr. Seuss film for Carrey, how difficult it is to appreciate his performance without seeing his eyes, and just how crazy life can be when mob mentality takes control.    Hosted by Brian Kondrach and Carrie Grant .  Join us next time for Yes Man!
We get ethereal and metaphysical while watching Jim talk about his time making Man on the Moon. We do a deep dive into what it means to be a method actor, how we connect with others, and how Jim's roles all seem to mirror his life.    Hosted by Brian Kondrach and Carrie Grant   Thank you so much for listening. We're taking a little break before diving into the Showtime show, Kidding. Plus, Sonic 2 just got a release date of April 8, 2022 so we might be back for that!

This is our last major movie for The Jim Carrey Project and things move real slow in this "thriller" about a detective trying to solve a cold case and root out corruption. We discuss just how bad this movie is, ponder as to how Jim got involved, compare it to "The Number 23" and, SPOILERS, discuss just how in the hell this movie without a twist even got made.   Hosted by Brian Kondrach and Carrie Grant.   Join us next time for Jim & Andy.

#38 - The Bad Batch

We spend some time in the desert watching this dystopian dud filled with big names and small dialogue. We discuss big, beefy cannibals, creepy cult leaders, and just how well Jim can act without ANY dialogue.    Hosted by Brian Kondrach and Carrie Grant.   Join us next time for Dark Crimes!
We visit our old pals Harry and Lloyd in this totally unnecessary sequel. We discuss where it went right, where it went wrong, and why anyone thought that it would be a good idea to make this movie.   Hosted by Brian Kondrach and Carrie Grant.   Join us next time for The Bad Batch!

#36 - Kick Ass 2

2020-12-0234:25

We get caught up in a convoluted mess of a story with this hard hitting sequel. Jim doesn't have much of a role but he still knows how to show up and bring an honest and intense character to life.    Hosted by Brian Kondrach and Carrie Grant.   Join us next time for Dumb and Dumber 2!
We take a magical trip with Steve Carrell, Steve Buschemi, Olivia Wilde, and Jim Carrey in this tale of friendship and redemption. We discuss just how unlikeable the characters are and Jim's intense performance.    Hosted by Brian Kondrach and Carrie Grant.   oin us next time for Kick Ass 2!
Is it ANOTHER Christmas movie? Not quite, but it DOES takes place in the winter. Mr. Popper's Penguins give us a glimpse of the amazing story teller that Jim Carrey can be before a convoluted and messy script get in the way. We discuss what this movie could have been, how to work with fake penguins, and a creepy Angela Lansbury.    Hosted by Brian Kondrach and Carrie Grant    Join us next time for The Incredible Burt Wonderstone

We stop saying "No" and start saying "YES" to more episodes of The Jim Carrey Project! After watching Yes Man, we discuss just how likely it was for Jim Carrey to have attended one of these types of groups, Brian's own history with something similar, and how prevelant a lot of the other actors are in today's Hollywood.    Hosted by Brian Kondrach and Carrie Grant   Join us next time for I Love You, Phillip Morris.

#29 - The Number 23

Things get really dark and demented in the The Number 23. This 2007 film is a big leap from tried and true Jim Carrey comedy movies. This thriller pushes him, his costars, and the audience to places they never expected. Coincidences pile up, secrets get unearthed, and we discuss what it really means to face the consequences of our actions. Hosted by Brian Kondrach and Carrie Grant Join us next time for Horton Hears a Who!
We get pushed to the breaking point after watching Fun with Dick and Jane. This 2005 film deals with the fallout when a global company tanks, similar to what happened with Enron. Jim Carrey and Tea Leoni have amazing chemistry and great comedic timing. We discuss how eerily similar it feels to being stuck at home, how injuries on set can make for some of the funniest moments of film and how a strong cast doesn't necessarily mean a box office success.  Hosted by Brian Kondrach and Carrie Grant Join us next time for The Number 23!
We need a moment after watching a dark and dreary movie such as LSASOUE. We discuss how this is a great rainy day movie, just how many recognizable faces are in it, and what it must be like to be an actor acting as an actor acting as another character.   Hosted by Brian Kondrach and Carrie Grant   Check out the video version here: https://youtu.be/75tuxs1GO8U Join us next time for Fun with Dick and Jane!
We're really in our head this week after watching Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. This deeply emotional work makes you wonder just what would happen if someone deleted you from their memory, why creeps really screw it up for the rest of us, and what it means to grow through trauma. If you haven't seen this movie in a while, now might be a good time for a rewatch.   Hosted by Brian Kondrach and Carrie Grant   The video episode can be found here: https://youtu.be/75tuxs1GO8U Join us next time for Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events.

In a strange turn of events we watch Man on the Moon right after The Truman Show. We discuss the differences of playing a character that doesn't know he's on TV versus a real person that pushed the boundaries of what it meant to be an entertainer. We look at the predictability of man and how our darkest moments can turn into the most joyful.   Hosted by Brian Kondrach and Carrie Grant   Please like, subscribe, and comment.
