The Joli-Aswin Show

The Joli-Aswin Show is a space for deep conversations about life, the universe, and the astrology that weaves through it all. Hosted by astrologers Joli Knott (www.bodhimindful.com) and Aswin Subramanyan (www.theabverdict.com), this podcast explores astrology, philosophy, life, and the human experience with authenticity and insight. Each episode invites thoughtful dialogue, practical reflections, and a search for meaning in an ever-changing world shaped by the dynamic cosmos. Together, we explore not just the stars above, but the real stories that shape our lives here and now.

12. Looking At The Lunar Nodes

Welcome to the 12th and final episode for Season 1 of The Joli-Aswin Show! In this episode, Joli and Aswin discuss the lunar nodes--including the Indic origin story for Ketu and Rahu, as well as the different paradigms one might employ in examining the nodal axis. (And although the link below is not quite the blog post Joli & Aswin are discussing on the show, hopefully it is still of interest for those who are interested in the nodes.) We will be back with Season 2 in 2026 and look forward to further discussions, rabbit-holes, and hopefully a number of guests, too! And stay tuned for details on a bonus episode livestream we're hoping to hold on the upcoming Solstice. As always, any ratings and/or comments you share will help support our show. 11. Nakshatras - The Heart of Jyotisa

Join Joli and Aswin as they talk about the nakshatras--the heart of Jyotisa. Nakshatra is the Indian name that generally describes each of 27 segments used to divide the ecliptic by Indic astrologers and correlating to the Moon's daily journey. They are therefore more detailed that the 12 zodiac signs and are believed to have a significant impact on a person's character, life events, and auspicious timings for rituals. What is the mythology behind these divisions, and the astronomy behind them? Is it 28 nakshatras or 27? What value does using nakshatras actually add in chart delineations? As always, we look forward to hearing your thoughts and would be grateful if you subscribe to our show, rate it, and/or leave a comment. Thank you for tuning in!

9. Delineating A Mystery Chart: Round 2

Today, we return with our special guest, Saffron Dennis from Divine BayTree, as we look at a mystery chart and delineate it through both a tropical and sidereal lens. The idea is to showcase how we might use different techniques to parse a natal chart and understand the native's life. Having examined the chart through a tropical lens and using largely Hellenistic techniques, we turn today to a look at the chart using perspectives from Jyotish. While Aswin does the bulk of the breakdown, Joli does share descriptors/keywords for the nakshatras of the native's Sun, Moon, and Rising. Just these alone are extremely revealing of the native and their story, as Saffron shares with us all by the end of the show. A slightly longer episode than usual but we hope you enjoy the breakdown and the subsequent reveal by Saffron! 2. Aswin Subramanyan Interviews Joli Knott

Welcome to "The Joli-Aswin Show"! And thank you for joining us on this second episode where Aswin interviews Joli in order for listeners to get to know her as a person, as well as an astrologer, better.  We hope you enjoy the show and would love to hear any feedback you have to share! ~Joli & Aswin Show notes: Smell is the only one of our 5 senses that is not routed through the thalamus to get to the cortex. Instead, aromas and odours travel directly to the olfactory nerve, thus bypassing the thalamus altogether. The information from smell is thus relayed to the limbic system and is why certain smells can trigger detailed memories and strong emotions.   In this episode, Joli mistakenly says "hypothalamus" instead of "thalamus". The latter retrieves sensory information for the cortex, while the former is responsible for homeostasis in the body and for stimulating hormone production. Please accept her regret for the error!
