56 - Gregg Hurwitz - An Invitation to the Intellectual Dark Web
I spoke today with author Gregg Hurwitz (more information about him below). Hurwitz is currently working to rebrand the Democratic party, working to produce an issues-oriented, anti-corruption, practical mainstream narrative and to identify promising Democratic candidates who can hold their own in long form political discussions. This is all in an attempt to end the dangerous polarization and concentration on ever more extreme ideology that seems to be destabilizing political discussion. The video is in large part an invitation to the long-form discussion providers of the so-called Intellectual Dark Web to engage with such candidates, so that the public can see beyond the sound bites and spin and impression management and message crafting that has become an integral but pathological part of our traditional low-bandwidth media communication technology. Let's see if we can find political candidates who can shine in a three hour discussion. We're done with the oversimplifications of the traditional media forms. Background: Gregg Hurwitz is the New York Times, #1 internationally bestselling author of 20 thrillers, including OUT OF THE DARK (2019), and two award-winning thriller novels for teens. His novels have won numerous literary awards, graced top ten lists, and have been published in 30 languages. Gregg has written screenplays for or sold spec scripts to many of the major studios (including THE BOOK OF HENRY), and written, developed, and produced television for various networks. He is also a New York Times Bestselling comic book writer, having penned stories for Marvel (Wolverine, Punisher) and DC (Batman, Penguin). He has published numerous academic articles on Shakespeare, taught fiction writing in the USC English Department, and guest lectured for UCLA, and for Harvard in the United States and internationally. In the course of researching his thrillers, he has sneaked onto demolition ranges with Navy SEALs, swum with sharks in the Galápagos, and gone undercover into mind-control cults. Hurwitz grew up in the Bay Area. While completing a BA from Harvard and a master’s from Trinity College, Oxford in Shakespearean tragedy, he wrote his first novel. He was the undergraduate scholar-athlete of the year at Harvard for his pole-vaulting exploits, and played college soccer in England, where he was a Knox fellow. He has increasingly turned his attention to the political sphere, in an effort to end polarizing discourse: Rebranding the entire Democratic partyWorking with a number of candidates and entities, from senators to the DNC/DCCC/DLCCEffort to get away from gridlock and into solutionsMy new book: 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos: jordanbpeterson.com/12-rules-for-life/Audiobook now available for Maps of Meaning: The Architecture of Belief: jordanbpeterson.com/maps-of-meaning/Dr Jordan B Peterson Website: jordanbpeterson.com/Self Authoring Suite: selfauthoring.com/Understand Myself personality test: understandmyself.com/Podcast: jordanbpeterson.com/jordan-b-peterson-podcast/Reading List: jordanbpeterson.com/reading-list/great-books/Twitter: twitter.com/jordanbpetersonPatreon: www.patreon.com/jordanbpeterson

50 - Dr. Richard Haier: The Neuroscience of Intelligence
There is almost nothing more important to understand about people than intelligence. It can be measured more accurately than anything else in the social sciences. It differs tremendously and importantly between individuals. It is the single most important determinant of life success. It's very existence, however, remains subject to substantive debate, most of it highly politicized. Dr. Richard Haier has recently written a major book on the topic, The Neuroscience of Intelligence (http://amzn.to/2em55A9), summarized in the following manner: "This book introduces new and provocative neuroscience research that advances our understanding of intelligence and the brain. Compelling evidence shows that genetics plays a more important role than environment as intelligence develops from childhood, and that intelligence test scores correspond strongly to specific features of the brain assessed with neuroimaging. In understandable language, Richard J. Haier explains cutting-edge techniques based on genetics, DNA, and imaging of brain connectivity and function. He dispels common misconceptions, such as the belief that IQ tests are biased or meaningless, and debunks simple interventions alleged to increase intelligence. " We recently spent an hour and a half talking about such things. I spoke with Harvard's Dr. Steven Pinker about the immense improvements in human living conditions that are now happening with amazing speed almost everywhere in the world -- as detailed in his new book, Enlightenment Now! (https://amzn.to/2jDwv7D) -- a careful, clear-headed and data-driven defense of the rational/scientific worldview that helped make such improvement possible).Dr. Pinker grew up in Montreal and earned his BA from McGill and his PhD from Harvard. Currently Johnstone Professor of Psychology at Harvard, he has also taught at Stanford and MIT. He has won numerous prizes for his research, his teaching, and his nine books, including: The Language Instinct (https://amzn.to/2JXZcai), How the Mind Works (https://amzn.to/2KEh77f), The Blank Slate (https://amzn.to/2jzXsZO), The Better Angels of Our Nature (https://amzn.to/2rnkqHF), and The Sense of Style (https://amzn.to/2wf5WyI).He is an elected member of the National Academy of Sciences, a two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist, a Humanist of the Year, a recipient of nine honorary doctorates, and one of Foreign Policy’s “World’s Top 100 Public Intellectuals” and Time’s “100 Most Influential People in the World Today.” He is Chair of the Usage Panel of the American Heritage Dictionary, and writes frequently for The New York Times, The Guardian, and other publications.12 Rules for Life Tour: https://jordanbpeterson.com/events/My new book: 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos: jordanbpeterson.com/12-rules-for-life/Audiobook now available for Maps of Meaning: The Architecture of Belief: jordanbpeterson.com/maps-of-meaning/Dr Jordan B Peterson Website: jordanbpeterson.com/Self Authoring Suite: selfauthoring.com/Understand Myself personality test: understandmyself.com/Podcast: jordanbpeterson.com/jordan-b-peterson-podcast/Reading List: jordanbpeterson.com/reading-list/great-books/Twitter: twitter.com/jordanbpetersonPatreon: www.patreon.com/jordanbpeterson

Mr. Peterson, Your knowledge has been cleverly thought provoking. Those in Power... I believe you are aware that God Doesn't want us to live as though there's no End and redemption is justified. Exactly the opposite. With ignorance I'm humiliated publicly experimenting with The Truth. Simply Put, if you must live then you Must die. God offers the end of death with Life through suffering the consequences of our Falling State. Long Ways Down. This imaginary mythological game you are playin on is only to survive. You are knowingly or unknowingly presenting well acted out advice to the power which already is in place. You see the circle always comes back around because the Pride continue to deny The Truth. As long as there is a search to live there will be suffering with No End. Imagine only two People, (2) male or female, unless both can believe that there suffering and then death is suffifcient then Hell on Earth will continue. The Fear and Weakness You are presenting tells me you don't have your money where your Mouth is. Mr Peterson, You are only giving decades of free knowledge away to keep the illuminated dark seekers who seem to only be sacrificing other's ability for their own Talented Idols. Which protects the wicked and Masks the Public with terrible falsehoods. Jordan, your knowledge is useful to any and everybody but that is the Problem. We should not be trying to enter out of the chaos that we've caused; time will take care of that. We should be humiliated and Fearful that our only way to an End is through Life Long Suffering. The only true redeemer lives within only ourselves. -MCC

your knowledge has been understood. Those in Power. God Doesnt want us to live as though we are searching for knowledge. he simply wants us to live and die. Not indulge in life's selfish offerings. NO, you won't need food You won't need Water, you just have to appreciate your ignorance and child like behavior to then be accepted back into the Kingdom. He put human beings in a probationary period. You see the circle always comes back around because the Pride to Live. As long as there is a search to live there will be suffering. imagine only two People, (because of choices; 2 choices) male or female, unless both can believe that there suffering and then death is suffifcient then Hell will continue. Mr Peterson is only giving decades of free knowledge away to keep illuminated the dark seekers you seem to only be able to sacrifice other people instead of themselves. Jordan's knowledge is useful to any and everybody but that is the Problem. We should not be trying to enter out of the chaos that we've caused; time will take care of that. we should be humiliated and scared for the only true redeemer lives within only ourselves.

The content provided here, on the youtube and his books are invaluable. It really changed my life not because I was lost (Although I was to some degree) but because it completely changed the way I looked at the world. I'll never be the same again.

Why Jesus said what he said on the cross. I believe Jesus wasn't talking to God. But He wanted people to sing along with him. We all know the Happy Birthday song. At a birthday party, if someone starts to sing "Happy Birthday to you..." everyone joins in the song and the person who initially started the song doesn't even have to sing anymore because the crowd will take over. Most of the people who were looking at Jesus were Jews. They all memorized the Psalms. Jesus just started to sing the very beginning of the song. At about three o’clock, Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” which means “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?” Matthew 27:46 NLT These are the same words that Psalm 22 begins with: "My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? Why are you so far away when I groan for help?" (Psalms 22:1 NLT) In their heads, or out loud, the crowd would have joined in with that song. So now, if we look at the rest this Psalm, the song actually describes what was happening at that moment:  "My enemies surround me like a pack of dogs; an evil gang closes in on me. They have pierced my hands and feet. I can count all my bones. My enemies stare at me and gloat. They divide my garments among themselves and throw dice for my clothing." Psalms 22:16‭-‬18 NLT I don't think Jesus's tone of voice was weak and painful but more like 'let me use my last strength for something worth using it for.' Which was starting to sing a song that describes who He is and who God is.  Mr Peterson, I really would like to hear what you think about this thought. I heard this from a teaching and can't take credit for it but it seems to me the most reasonable explanation so far.

In truth, we could probably have a better overall society with a Matriarchal power structure. But the feminists should then just be honest. Problem is that they want best of both worlds. In Bonobo matriarchies, there is no monogamy and males are coupled or paired with their mothers. They stay with their mothers for life. The female division of power makes sure the society is more fair - they divide food by need, and so on. There is much less violence. But, at least males belong somewhere. Right now we have a society where women are taking power and want a passive non-competitive male in the public sphere but an alpha male at home. They want public matriarchy but private patriarchy. And that means a lot of left-out people.

Too much masculity=tyranny, a good amount=order, too much femininity=chaos, a good amount=potential? After all, for there to be potential to grow and change there must be some disorder. Order impedes change. I think that sounds about right, especially having in mind that femininity is strongly associated with fertility in almost all mythologies (and the fact that it is women who carry children).

Really interesting about chaos, logos and order. And how logos is needed to bring order out of chaos. Make me think about how Jesus was born from a virgin. And the question.. who came first.. The masculine or the feminine. well the feminine is chaos and the masculine is order but order is created out of chaos by the logos..
