In this episode of The Jordan Syatt Mini-Podcast, I talk about how marketing in the fitness industry (and everywhere) is trying to sell you a dream. I share the story of how I was duped out of, literally, thousands of dollars, how the marketing industry spends millions upon millions of dollars using proven scientific techniques to take advantage of your emotions and extract as much revenue as possible from you, and how one of the biggest red flags is when an advertisement is specifically trying to sell you extreme ease or pain.  I also talk about the concept of willful suffering, the importance of identifying what your own tendencies are, and how to leverage that knowledge to improve your life and achieve your goals.  SPOILER: I never said it was going to be easy, but it will be worth it  ;) Subscribe to my YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZk-b1KyEL9rovh7zdfw_lg I hope you enjoy this episode and, if you do, please leave a review on iTunes (huge thank you to everyone who has written one so far). In this episode of The Jordan Syatt Mini-Podcast, I talk about body image and how it really does affect everyone from the total fitness novice to the professional athlete or fitness model. I share the story of the first time I remember being acutely aware of my own body image, how I once denied that I had any insecurities at all for the sake of projecting "confidence" to a former girlfriend, and my wildly enlightening experience of being caught in the middle of two clients (a mother and a fitness model) that were jealous of one another's approach to food and fitness. In this episode of The Jordan Syatt Mini-Podcast, I talk about how starting to train jiu-jitsu helped get me through the pandemic, why I'm so passionate about the sport, and what to do in the face of defeat.  I give a play by play of my path towards my first tournament, from pre-fight jitters to telling the whole world on social media about it, how I won my first match but was eliminated in the second after a critical mistake, and why it is so important to get back on the horse and attack your mistakes and failures head on. In this episode I speak with the Gordon Ramsay of muscle growth, Paul Carter. Paul and I approach our nutrition VERY differently. As you'll hear in this episode, Paul follows a *very* strict diet throughout the week and every Friday he has one epic cheat meal (you can see them on his Instagram). Now, I'm not a huge fan of cheat meals. And I prefer to eat smaller portions of the foods I enjoy throughout the week rather than having one massive cheat meal. That said, I'm very excited for you to hear this conversation because I think it's important to hear different points of view so you can learn and decide which option works best for you. I hope you enjoy this episode and have a wonderful day. -J

In this episode of The Jordan Syatt Mini-Podcast, I talk about the many times when I have wanted to quit, and highlight some of the most important times I have either gone through with it, or stuck it out for the long-run.  I tell the story of when I almost dropped out of college, how I nearly quit my life-changing job as Gary Vaynerchuk's personal trainer in the first three months, and how I forced myself to stick with the Inner Circle for at least a year when it hardly had any members at all.  I also talk about quitting a bad job early, and why I walked away from powerlifting as soon as I accomplished my 10 year goal of pulling a 4x times bodyweight deadlift. I hope you enjoy this episode and, if you do, please leave a review on iTunes (huge thank you to everyone who has written one so far). I gave up alcohol in 2018 for the year and it was crazy how some friends reacted. they really took it personally even though it didnt impact them and I still went for regular nights out. I am back to drinking but I never go over a certain amount and I dont understand how people who get hungover would want to feel like that regularly 🤷🏻‍♀️ its pointless calories and a huge waste of money

I agree with your take on optimism. I read Viktor Frankyls book years ago and he said the greatest freedom we have is to choose our attitude in any situation

Kelley, we're we switched at birth? everything you've said/thought is exactly the way I feel too. PS, been on a 'diet' since 6 months old, over 40 years (the title of this episode made me turn it on immediately)

I absolutely love this. I'm struggling with post-partum weight and it makes me afraid to have another child because I really don't like what pregnancy did to by body. But this podcast episode really helps my confidence that I'm still worthy and have my own beauty no matter what my body looks like.

Great stuff! Very helpful discussion about breaking things down to a few big "rocks" that you can focus on and do consistently, because consistency is number one.
