Welcome back to The Late Night Lockdown! Uff da! It's been a rough several weeks for everyone, hasn't it? You're not alone. Originally recorded in October 2024, (please forgive the noise of our much needed Air Conditioner running in the background that day) - On this episode, our co-hosts, Amiee and Matthew, get back to focusing and conversing over several social issues that need to be acknowledged and discussed. The better and more often we openly talk about these things the better we can understand each other and have educated opinions to then find realistic solutions. The People Need to stay ACTIVE and Americans Need to Stop Being F*cking HYPOCRITES. Staying active with Democratic engagement is a must at ALL times, not just when it is convenient for you or when it just directly affects you. It's not just a season you care about for a bit and then swipe it away for the remainder of the year. Your votes and your educated knowledge on important matters that directly affect tax-payers/citizens lives, including your very own, is WHY your votes matter. If you don't care who represents you and what they do with that power, than you get the charlatans and frauds with bad leadership which is then a ripple effect that directly affects people's lives. Staying active matters because, whether you like Politics or not, it doesn't care: Politics will and does affect your daily life 365 days a year. We know, we know! It CAN be so boring, BUT if it directly affects your life and your loved ones, don't you WANT to know what the f*ck is going on? Realistically, we all live in a gigantic 'World Chess Game' and we're watching live in action right now. What started our country in the first place? Taxation WITHOUT Representation. So WHY do we still have places that are American but don't do this?? ie Washington DC, Puerto Rico, etc. Other topics on this episode include Women's rights and our bodily autonomy education for all ages so that we can be an educated and compassionate society instead of a hateful, judging one. And the Book Review segment covers: The Diary of Anne Frank - a must read for EVERYONE if you haven't already, and especially right now. The similarities between then and now is very concerning beyond words and something we all should be aware of and acknowledging the facts of as we start this new administration. "Actions Speak Louder Than Words" History repeats itself since Greek Mythology days.... News Audio Clips: - DemocracyNow - Jim Henson's "The Storyteller: Greek Myths" - a Greek Mythology series from 1991. (soooo good!) Please follow and support! The Late Night Lockdown is back and our hosts, Amiee & Matthew, come back from their long summer hiatus with their last “finale” past recording from June 27, 2024 covering the Alito Lies and investigative journalist Lauren Windsor’s interview (June 13, 2024) on DemocracyNow! , the First Presidential Debate this year with THE “two old men” and the illogical deep Racism still very much embedded in America today. Everyone is exhausted and you can feel it in our daily society. The entertainment review portion includes Apple TVs historical dramas: “Franklin” starring Michael Douglas as the beloved Founding Father working in Paris to help the American Revolution and “The Manhunt” starring Tobias Menzies as U.S. Secretary of War Edwin Stanton and Anthony Boyle as the infamous John Wilkes Booth during the aftermath of the first American presidential assassination, Abraham Lincoln, and the fight to preserve and protect the ideals that were the foundation of Lincoln's Reconstruction plans. Both shows are very well done and highly recommended by our hosts!Hmmm learning History through good tv… can we EVER learn from our past? Please send your comments/questions and share your thoughts. Recorded: February 10, 2024 • Our Hosts, Amiee and Matthew, come back to the table and converse about the current events of the week: Desantis and his moronic verbiage, the Iowa Causcus joke and where does the ‘Caucus’ word originally come from historically?, the continued Book and Human Rights Bans Across America, the rise of Christian-Nationalism and much, much more in this tipsy turvy world we all live in. Moral of the Story: PLEASE REGISTER TO VOTE AND ACTUALLY HONOR YOUR VOICE AND GOOOO VOTE!!!! My Voice = My Vote. My Vote IS My Voice. Entertainment Review Segment: 1. ”Self Reliance” dark comedy film - produced by their friend , Joe Hardesty, (gooo Joe!) and written, directed and starring: Jake Johnson. Also starring an AMAZING cast: Anna Kendrick, Andy Samberg, Mary Holland, Emily Hampshire, Natalie Morales, Eduardo Franco and Christopher Llyod. Matt and Amiee explain their suspenseful, interactive experience while watching this movie at home one night! 2. “Quiz Lady” comedy film - starring Sandra Oh, Awkwafina and Will Ferrell.(just imagine the comedy material with THOSE three amazing comedy actors!) 3. “The Bear” on FX Networks, Suspenseful, drama comedy, starring Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, Abby Elliot, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Oliver Platt. (Another amazing cast and performances) - Last but not least, what and why the hell is “Yacht Music” when it’s all literally Classic California Rock music? Amiee and Matt explain it all. Thank you for listening and joining in our conversations with this weeks episode! “Let’s Talk About It!” IG: @thelatenightlockdown Twitter: @late_lockdown Email: thelatenightlockdown@gmail.com
Our Hosts, Amiee and Matthew, are back from holiday hiatus and celebrating the start of the new year of 2024 - ELECTION Year! Let the crazy asss circus begin. Their 15 year old dog, Bella, chimes in her opinions as well. They recap with updates since the SAG-AFTRA actors strike ended, the Israel-Hamas War and the Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza, Niki Haley’s embrassing audio clips about how the Civil War WAS NOT about Slavery when in fact it was EXACTLY historically about Slavery, and hence why teaching and learning ACCURATE HISTORY only behooves our society and why it is absolutely important for our society as a whole to value and protect it. It continues to be truly disturbing and frightening how WILLFULLY IGNORANT people continue to choose to be and who continue to want to take away people’s HUMAN RIGHTS. Where is our country and our society heading, especially if we DON’T speak up and out on such important issues? History does and WILL repeat itself if we keep silent. “Don’t fight back, Fight FORWARD.” ********************************* For the Entertainment segment, Amiee and Matthew review their new favorite “old” show: The West Wing on HBO•MAX and how, unfortunately, it is still SO relevant today. They also recap on their experience with their annual The Beatles holiday charity show: BOTH: A Hard Days Silent Night. Next year is the 15th Anniversary! Pre-recorded on November 15, 2023 SAG•AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild + American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) held a live stream on their YouTube Channel of the live in-person “town hall” meeting at the Los Angeles headquarters. This is Part 2 of the live recording of the Q&A discussion portion from SAG•AFTRA members and negotiators committee members where it got pretty heated at times. It was an amazing turn out and a pivotal night of all members coming together to hear the specifics of this new Tentative Agreement. However, since that day more and more information, concerns and questions have come out, especially about the Ai regulations, policies, and verbiage and a lot of artists are NOT happy with the specifics. This is a historical time for so many reasons. Who knows what the future holds but we have to try and talk about it and these episodes are a reminder of what we are up against and experiencing in this moment. Thank you for listening and supporting! It affects EVERYONE in every field because this will be the “blue print” map for a lot of businesses into the future. Ai is here. How do we work with it in a positive manner and still protect ourselves, our identities, and our jobs? This is a fact in our society now to contemplate and deal with thus moving forward. #LaborRights #HumanRights #Ai #sagaftrastrike #hollywoodhistory https://www.Instagram.com/thelatenightlockdown (@thelatenightlockdown) • https://www.Twitter.com/late_lockdown (@late_lockdown) • Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thelatenightlockdownpodcast

Pre-recorded July 14, 2023 from CBS & NBC News clips for historical documentation purpose of the SAG•AFTRA Strike. History always repeats itself if we do not learn from the past. Labor rights is always an issue in Capitalism and we, as a society, need to protect and listen to our laborers. These clips explain that. We are ALL stronger TOGETHER = true Power to The People. @thelatenightlockdown • thelatenightlockdown@gmail.com
Previously Recorded on July 14, 2023 - The Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG•AFTRA) officially join the Writers Guild of America (WGA) Strike, uniting the Artists as one in this historical battle to save the Entertainment Industry and our jobs as a whole. This hasn’t happened for over 60 years now, proving, once again, that we are in the new modern 1960s in 2023 with very similar issues in society. But what does that mean exactly? Why are they deciding to strike and what does that mean for your favorite tv series, video games or other entertainment into the future? The Power of the People is more powerful in Solidarity than corporations will ever be and this, like many other industries in this country, is a Labor issue. Clips from CBS news and a PBS interview with Tom Hanks helps to explain the confusing times we’re now in and the cohosts of The Late Night Lockdown help explain along the way since this is literally happening to them as we speak. Documenting life in Hollywood on TLNL as it happens in hopes to educate others. Please share the info and know the facts! IG: @thelatenightlockdown
Recorded July 13, 2023 - our hosts, Matthew and Amiee, discuss their experience in real time as the SAG•AFTRA’s official Public Press Conference is held about the contracts ending and AMPTP not meeting their realistic demands. President and VP of the actors union, Fran Drescher and Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, lead the conversation and inform the public why the strike must happen. Everyone was on their toes in Hollywood during this time, and we still are, because most actors were already supporting the Writers Guild of America and stood in solidarity with them. Why? Because this is a major Labor issue due to Corporate Greed, it always has been, and it affects literally EVERY ONE of us who either likes, uses or works in any form of Entertainment. You like Video Games! This affects you. You love movies? This affects you. You like binging your favorite TV series on your favorite streaming service every day? Yes, Than this also directly affects YOU. Unions protect The People and that is exactly what these unions are doing. With that, there are direct ripple affects from striking, which is hurting and pissing some people off, however NOT striking and demanding our human and labor rights be met, is going to be way Worse in the immediate and long term affects for ourselves as well as the LITERAL well being or existence to our entertainment industry as a whole. Show business is still a business and drives the economy. These greedy assholes at AMPTP want to rewrite the whole industry and take the money WE have created by our work, for all of themselves. If you know anything about the French Revolution history, one could almost say this is now the modern Hollywood Revolution against the greedy tech-ocrats, and rightfully so.
Recorded July 13, 2023 - the week that the Supreme Court allowed Discrimination to be legal, “The Sopranos” and “White Lotus” Actor, Michael Imperioli, shares his thoughts about the whole thing through an CBSnews article and Corporate Greedy Studio Execs publicly state that they want “Writers and Actors to lose their homes and be evicted” before they agree to humane working conditions and fair pay causing the Strike to become even bigger and historical than ever imagined. This is about labor issues across America , how it’s all connected in every industry and Hollywood is calling it out. All this and more while Amiee and Matthew and dealing and living amongst the strike in Los Angeles. These are hard-times for all but it’s important to document these stories and converse on the topics so we can all look back in history to remember and learn from overall.
In this weeks episode of The Late Night Lockdown Podcast, our Hosts, Matthew and Amiee, openly discuss their non-so festive 4th of July celebration this year (it's just too hypocritical for calling America the "Land of the Free" when so many people's human rights are being taken away. Ya know, the Facts.) , their (ironic) Texas trip to Corpus Christi for a weekend where they experienced an all natural, salt water bath jacuzzi in the Gulf of Mexico - all thanks to wonderful Climate Change; the obsessiveness of Guns and Religion culture (especially when they are viewed as one thing), and The Alamo museum history and experience walking the historical grounds. By talking about the true, past history of our country, we need to always learn about it so we never go back, know that Violence never solves anything and that Mental Healthcare is a Human Right and absolutely needed for every single person in our society, especially now more than ever. They also cover the Affirmative Action ruling by the Supreme Court this last month and the racism that continues to plague society. Hope & Vote & Smoke Some Green! Why? Because the world is f*cking crazy. Happy 4/20 to the OGs and new! Our hosts, Amiee Conn and Matthew Shirley, begin at a live PHISH concert at the Hollywood Bowl (thank you to our friend Brad!). They come together on 4/20 to discuss the pros and cons of the green herb called Cannabis, discuss the history of marijuana, the importance of decriminalizing and the taboo destigmatization of it and they’re own personal experiences with why they support going green. 🌿 Like anything in life, be safe first and never abuse, enjoy recreationally but with moderation and balance! Our hosts cheer the OGs of Cannabis past, explore the booming cannabis industry vs the wine industry, which is growing more and more amongst our society every year, and discuss the science and health benefits from the plant itself. From migraines, depression to women’s menstruation cycles and cramps, Cannabis has helped so many when used appropriately. So, where is the industry going from this point on in history and what will it be like in 10 years? Pick your favorite strand, light up a joint or eat an edible with them and sit back to enjoy listening to this episode of The Late Night Lockdown: 4/20 Special . Love and Light, man! 🌿🫶🏾🤘🏾🥰 IG: @thelatenightlockdown Twitter: @late_lockdown thelatenightlockdown@gmail.com The 4/20 Unofficial Recommendation brands: Shout out to favorite brands: •Loewell Farms •Sonoma Hills Farm •Dime Bag Our hosts thoroughly enjoyed making this episode while enjoying strands from these Cannabis flower brands. Hi everyone! Welcome back to The Late Night Lockdown Podcast! In this episode we review our recent “Tapas” style European Trip and adventures back in February of this year with our travel friends, Ali and Wyatt. It was a trip of a lifetime and an absolute dream come true! We are forever beyond grateful for this trip and these are our memories and recommendations for future travelers out there who might be curious themselves! We can’t wait to go back to our favorite spots again! Our 2 week trip itinerary was: LA> Paris, France > London, England > Amsterdam, Netherlands > Rome, Italy > Cairo, Egypt > Dublin, Ireland > back to LA. The trip was FULL of great memories and experiences for a lifetime! In this conversation we cover our favorite areas (and some not so favorite areas) and experiences throughout the journey, including: * Café de Floré in Paris * Moulin Rouge * Princess Diana memorial * The Eiffel Tower (a MUST!) * Le Marais Amsterdam: - [ ] The Anne Frank House museum - [ ] INK Hotel - [ ] Cannabis bars - [ ] Amstel Beer Cairo, Egypt: •The ACTUAL Great Pyramid of Giza experience!! 4500 years old and we climbed INSIDE of it! MIND-BLOWING experience!!! (Matt’s rightfully bittersweet and will explain why in the middle of this episode! lol) •The Egyptian Museum •Thank you to our tour guide Mona and our driver for an amazing 5-star experience! •And to the Marriott Mena House Hotel in Cairo, literally right next to the Pyramids. You can see them from your hotel balconies! The culture shocks and poverty issues we saw there are unacceptable anywhere in the world today though and you are forced to see a different perspective by the disparity, especially in the 21st Century. While Rome had literal FREE water fountains everywhere in public and one with the choice of bubbly or still water choices right in front of the ancient Coliseum! Wild! Each country was breath taking and mind-blowing in its own rights and had its pros and cons. But what a gift it was to see a huge part of that world in 14 days!! On the second half of this episode is the Entertainment segment: we discuss Oscars night review and our winning predictions! Amiee’s teen crush is still for Brendan Fraser . I mean, George of the Jungle to The Whale - Com’on! That is some amazing acting and the best character arches of all! We also discuss the question: are Marvel Films and the Maverick type of films really Oscar worthy films or just big blockbuster summer fun ones to enjoy at the box offices? Thank you for listening and joining in our conversations with this weeks episode! “Let’s Talk About It!” -Matt & Amiee : IG: @thelatenightlockdown Twitter: @late_lockdown thelatenightlockdown@gmail.com
Matt and Amiee watch in real-time the historical President Biden’s State of the Union Speech on Feb 7, 2023, with recorded public commentary and broadcasting news from NBCnews with Lester Holt. Jerry Springer’s guests are in the Republican seats this year, Pathological Liar Santos is told off by Mitt Romney and apparently Sinema mixed up her attire for the Grammys she was never invited to in the first place. If you missed the original recording, enjoy the audio version and our hosts’ heated review/commentary throughout. @thelatenightlockdownpodcast
Happy 2023! For the first Official episode of Second Season and this new year, recorded on January 21, 2023 - Our Hosts, Amiee & Matthew review the amazing new film “The Whale” directed by Darren Aronofsky and starring award-winning actor Brendan Fraser. Hours after seeing it and fresh in their minds, they break down the film’s story from their own professional POV, from Art to film and storytelling, and talk about important current events of the day on this new episode of The Late Night Lockdown Podcast. Thanks for joining! Please message us with your thoughts, we’d love to hear from you! @thelatenightlockdown
Welcome to the Second Season of The Late Night Lockdown Podcast!  Our hosts, Amiee Conn and Matthew Shirley, recover the current events of last month in 30 min.  Topics include: the passing of Queen Elizabeth II and the discussion of Female Leaderships throughout the dawn of time and human history in a Patriarchal world, the "What ifs?..." of history: would there have been an American Revolution or a French Revolution and would Democracy be in this world at all if the Brits had NOT treated people as 2nd class citizens and pissed them off 300 years ago?, the discussion of Film History and the future of Cinema/Streaming Services in the new Tech-Pioneer Age of Hollywood we are living in, and an Entertainment Review segment of the new HBOMax "Game of Thrones : House of Dragon" series vs. the Amazon Prime "Lord of the Rings" series. Fantasy is back and our hosts share their thoughts about it all with frustrations of non-original content regurgitated but also Amiee let's her inner nerd out with her love for the on-going Star Trek Universe. Live Long and Prosper, bitch. Follow us on Social Media and feel free to send us an email! thelatenightlockdown@gmail.com , Instagram: @thelatenightlockdown
Our co-hosts, Amiee & Matthew, are back from their summer August break, and jump right into reviewing the historical “Battle for the Soul of the Nation” speech given by President Biden on September 1, 2022 directly in front of Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A poignant and very bold speech that has now become controversial from the MAGA-Republican side due to Biden actually calling their bullshit out to the nation. In this historical speech from Philadelphia, President Biden speaks about the "battle for the soul of the nation.” He called out former ‘President’ Donald Trump and his supporters, saying "MAGA Republicans do NOT respect The Constitution" (which is absolutely true by their very own choices and actions) and that they have extreme ideologies. The first of many Democrats hopefully speaking up and speaking out to not tolerate these outrageous and DELUSIONAL cult-like MAGA republicans and followers. Democracy is defended and should never be taken for granted, even in America. We must ALL constantly defend it otherwise it will fall when we are not paying attention. He also asked Americans to be sure to exercise their right to VOTE in the upcoming elections this November 2022. In this season finale episode, Amiee & Matthew discuss their opinions and the facts of the speech, including the theatrical symbolism and obvious bold choices of the red stage lighting design (that any good stage director, musical theatre nerd or lighting designer would have understood), as well as introduce a new satire commercial with voice-over talents by Matthew Shirley. All this while having lunch and watching the FULL speech from the You Tube channel CBS news clip. (commercials that pop up every 60 seconds on You Tube is a problem that is surely discussed by the hosts!) So, if you haven’t seen this historical speech yet or would like an entertainment review version of it, give a listen and enjoy! It’s 102 degrees in the real “La La Land” during this recording, due to this ABNORMAL global warming heatwave that the south west is enduring, and their dog Bella’s nails are tapping in the background while moving throughout the recording audio, HOWEVER it’s an educational and entertaining episode for listeners to thoroughly enjoy. Listen, share & leave our hosts a message about what YOUR thoughts were of the speech. #letstalkaboutit @thelatenightlockdown thelatenightlockdown@gmail.com
Our hosts, Amiee & Matthew, review the clips of Day 3 of the Jan. 6th ‘Attack on the Capitol’ Public Hearings, recorded Live on June 17, 2022. Not only to document these historical times, but to also recap for those who may not have had the chance to catch these powerful sessions while they were live. So, if you weren’t able to watch the public live sessions that day, here’s an audio recap of Day 3 public hearings to hear everything for yourself! Many interesting and abhorrent facts and evidence were brought up that EVERY single American has the right to listen to and pay attention to with their own ears. It is always better to stay informed and to listen to ALL the facts to then form your own personal and educated opinion on the matter. On this week’s episode, Amiee & Matthew also discuss history nerd-stuff like the attempted coup during the War of 1812 and others in American History, the current and rare historical floods happening in Yellowstone National Park at the moment, including their own personal experience with a close but rare tornado in South Dakota 2 years ago, Matthew’s experience running into Henry Kessinger years ago while living in NYC, and Amiee’s experience seeing Sean Spicer at The Emmy’s in 2017. Also, what the hell is a “Furry Cow”!!?All this and more on this episode of The Late Night Lockdown Podcast. Audio Clips from CBSnews Live. Follow on social media and email us questions! The Late Night Lockdown: Episode 118 Recorded on May 29, 2022 - It's Memorial Day weekend, and our Hosts, Amiee and Matthew, review their past month of social/current events and experiences. From attending the Women's March on May 14th 2022 at City Hall, Los Angeles, in support of Reproductive Rights for ALL,  the constant Gun Violence issues and mass shootings in America, the Lunar Eclipse, experiences on the Metro LA these days, to Amiee having a "psychic" moment caught on the recording while the news was on in the background.  It's a 'Slippery Slope' from here with the current attack (and one may argue - the war on women and uterus' everywhere throughout history and societies since the dawn of Mankind) on Women's Rights and People with Uterus' Human Rights being taken away. Roe V. Wade is being dismantled in front of our eyes - a law, that has been in place for your right to PRIVACY for 50 years, is being taken away and that is just the beginning if Republicans have it their way. How can we solve these problems without ANYONE's human rights being infringed upon or is that impossible in today's culture and society? Answer: We need to pass the E.R.A. = Equal Rights Amendment. Please research and support www.EqualRightsAmendment.org and follow @ERAcoalition for more info. "First they come for my Rights, then they come for Yours." How uncomfortable is riding the Metro in LA and what is the next Mayor of LA going to actually do with the infrastructure issues?  VOTE by JUNE 7th, 2022 Los Angeles!  Amiee and Matt also cover the Ulvade School Shooting in Texas and Gun Violence as whole in America, how it has affected both their lives and experiences differently over the 20+ years of mass shootings happening in America. Did you know that Upland Game Animals (aka Pheasants) are protected MORE by Gun Regulations than HUMAN CHILDREN right now? And that is a FACT folks!  Enough with just the "Thoughts and Prayers." This has always been a PUBLIC Health crisis - when are WE, as a society and nation, going to actually DO SOMETHING about the ludicrous Gun Violence in America and the lack of protection? For over 20+ years this has been going on ever since Columbine and yet nothing has been done to really protect or make a difference for our children and our society. However, many other countries HAVE with actual solutions that have worked, such as: gun regulations, universal background checks, red flag systems, mandatory training and licensese, and making military/war-type firearms, such as the AR-15 and AK-47s, illegal, off the market and off their country's streets, which has resulted in positive outcomes evident by the continued data and statistics. "The first step in solving a problem is recognizing that there IS one." Our hosts, dissect the 2nd Amendment and what the Founding Father's ACTUALLY, factually meant, by their written words, when they created our country's beloved Democracy and Constitution. Podcast Entertainment Suggestions on this Episode:  Marvel's "Moon Knight" on Disney+ ,  Audio Clip Sources: Opening monologue clip: "The Newsroom" monologue on "Why America is NOT the 'Greatest Country in the World' anymore" performed by Actor/Activist: Jeff Daniels. "The first step in solving a problem is recognizing that there IS one." - NBC News clip on Gun Violence statistics and data, May 27, 2022.
