Join me as I interview my husband, Dr. Clinton Bartholomew, about what viruses are, how the Covid-19 virus works, and what he thinks about many of the information tidbits floating around the internet regarding the Coronavirus. I surprised him at the end with a quiz where he has to guess if an over-the-counter remedy is from an early modern book (The English Housewife (1615) and The English Physician (1652)) or from a contemporary website. 1This episode is about a badass lady who was not only a poetess, but also one of the jewels of the Elizabethan court, and one some have suggested may have been the dark lady mentioned in Shakespeare’s sonnets: the amazing Aemilia Bassano Lanyer ( 1569–1645 ). Following her story, I interview the world-renowned playwright and author of the play Emilia!: Morgan Lloyd Malcolm.
