From the therapy room of a registered psychotherapist, dating coach and solopreneur who has tirelessly attempted a 'healthy' work-life balance for 25 years, it rarely existed for me and likely does not for most business owners, entrepreneurs and executives. The truth is relationships can really suffer. I will be interviewing expert guests who are doing things right so we can all learn to mix business with pleasure. Topics will range from building better relationships, connection, dating, and how to spread more kindness and compassion towards others while doing so. Listeners, you have the right to have passion surrounding your work while maintaining passionate relationships. You can have your cake and eat it too. New episodes premiere every Tuesday.

Yes, I decide to close up this Podcast! In this final episode, I explain why. The health and wellness space is flooded with fear-inducing health claims, often implying that you need to invest in various products to improve your well-being. It’s making us stressed and may even be causing orthorexia for some. Very few people are telling you what you really need to hear, which is that you need to dumb down and simplify your life. This doesn’t cost you money and only requires common sense—not a biochemistry degree. I will continue to interview expert guests, just on another show. Listen in to learn more about why I am doing this and what my intentions are for the new show, Mixing Business With Pleasure.  Vroom Vroom!! In this episode, we explored many exciting and surprising points. However, they all circled back to one crucial theme: the importance of defining your purpose. This is the key to feeling fulfilled in your personal relationships and financial goals, and it's a journey that can inspire and motivate you. Andrew uses science and experience to validate his teachings in a way that is impossible to argue against. If you were to track the historical data over time, it would be all there—if you care to look at it. Doing so would provide you with great insight in to why you have found yourself in the state you are in right now. However, most people would rather ignore their spending habits and, possibly, their partners by going after instant gratification. Tune in to discover how listening, being curious, and avoiding a me-centric mindset can lead to more happiness and security in finances and personal relationships.    My Program for Entrepreneurs, Executives and others who are addicted to dopamine:  https://mixingbusinesswithpleasure.com   Relevant Links | Social Media: https://luellajonk.com/ https://www.instagram.com/luellajonk/ https://www.facebook.com/luellajonkemotionalhealth https://linktr.ee/luellajonk https://www.linkedin.com/in/andrew-hallam-44b81627/
In true ‘Luella’ style, which some might call somewhat disorganized, I did a mind dump for this episode on all the reasons why you might be feeling lost and apathetic about life. This episode is for the person trying to find a sense of meaning and happiness in everyday life.  In this episode, I uncover: The importance of having a sense of community while also spending more time in solitude. The need to connect with Source, albeit God or another higher power. Why is it never a means to an end but rather a journey that will feed the soul. How self-awareness is the first behavior you must strive towards in order to change.  Most of humankind’s lack of focus keeps them in a scarcity loop. How abundance is already yours and how gratitude will allow you to see it.  My Program for Entrepreneurs, Executives and others who are addicted to dopamine:  https://mixingbusinesswithpleasure.com   Relevant Links | Social Media: https://luellajonk.com/ https://www.instagram.com/luellajonk/ https://www.facebook.com/luellajonkemotionalhealth https://linktr.ee/luellajonk
Today, I had an enlightening conversation with Dennis Wong, a functional and integrative registered pharmacist, about the various manifestations of stress on a physiological, emotional, and mental level. We combined his expertise in pharmacy (the science) with my observations of stress in my therapy room (psychology). In essence, stress presents itself in physical and emotional signs, and it is crucial for us to heed these signals from our bodies on a daily basis, empowering us to take control of our well-being. Dennis is a seasoned Metabolic, Nutritional, and Functional Medicine Consultant Pharmacist committed to guiding individuals on their journey to optimal health and wellness. He leverages an in-depth understanding of the underlying causes of health issues, combining nutritional guidance and lifestyle enhancements to devise personalized solutions. In 2007, Dennis was honored with a fellowship in Anti-Aging, Nutritional & Metabolic Medicine from the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M). He earned the distinction of Diplomate with the American Board of Anti-Aging Health Practitioners. Further expanding his expertise, he became a Certified Clinical Nutritionist in 2008 and was recognized as an Institute for Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner in 2015. Dennis offers comprehensive strategies to empower individuals to achieve sustained health improvements through these prestigious certifications and his innovative approach.   Relevant Links | Social Media: New 1:1 Coaching Program for Entrepreneurs and Executives: https://mixingbusinesswithpleasure.com https://luellajonk.com/ https://www.instagram.com/luellajonk/ https://www.facebook.com/luellajonkemotionalhealth https://linktr.ee/luellajonk https://www.cinden.com/ https://www.instagram.com/healyoufromwithin/
If you have never worked with a functional integrative dietician before to combat your ills, perhaps consider doing so. In today’s episode, Michelle and I discussed just some of the misguided information playing on various media channels, so you don’t need to continue to guess. We spoke about how stress plays a massive role in combating disease and made the argument it is not only one lifestyle factor playing a role in chronic illness; it is diet, exercise, social circles, sleep, environmental toxins, and possibly most importantly, stress. Michelle Shapiro is an Integrative/ Functional Registered Dietitian in NYC who has helped over 1000+ clients reverse their anxiety, heal long-standing gut and immune issues, and lovingly approach their weight. Michelle has a virtual private practice of 5 nutritionists where she and her team work one-on-one. She hosts the Quiet the Diet Podcast, where she helps her audience bridge the gap between body positivity and functional nutrition.   Relevant Links | Social Media: New 1:1 Coaching Program for Entrepreneurs and Executives: https://mixingbusinesswithpleasure.com https://luellajonk.com/ https://www.instagram.com/luellajonk/ https://www.facebook.com/luellajonkemotionalhealth https://linktr.ee/luellajonk https://michelleshapirord.com/
In today’s solo episode, I explained how maintaining a personal vision is imperative to ridding oneself of guilt, staying true to one's values, and likely circumventing a possible identity crisis down the road. I also spend a fair bit of time discussing John and Julie Gottman’s latest book Fight Right: How Successful Couples Turn Conflict Into Connection, and the excellent job they did reminding couples that attuning and attending to their partner’s needs or ask, rather than planning their next comeback response in their heads, is the key to lasting relationships. Finally, I shared my viewof why most couples are holding on for dear life right now, which is incongruent with Gottman’s current perspective.    New 1:1 Coaching Program for Entrepreneurs and Executives https://mixingbusinesswithpleasure.com   Relevant Links | Social Media: https://luellajonk.com/ https://www.instagram.com/luellajonk/ https://www.facebook.com/luellajonkemotionalhealth https://linktr.ee/luellajonk
If you do not think you are interested in selling or have no need to ‘sell,’ think again. We all sell something daily. Selling is more than just closing deals; it's about understanding the psychological factors that drive consumer/partner/child behavior and mastering the art of fulfilling the interested party’s deeper needs. Once you understand that it is a skill like any other, it becomes easy. Today I had the pleasure of interviewing Benjamin Brown. Mr. Brown is a sales expert, author, and father of two young children. When it comes to sales, he’s done it all! From stock brokerage style cold calling to car salesman, to gym memberships, to medical devices-he can sell anything. Benjamin has 20 years’ worth of experience and created a 10-step process to help get more clients and MORE SALES.   Relevant Links | Social Media: https://luellajonk.com/ https://www.instagram.com/luellajonk/ https://www.facebook.com/luellajonkemotionalhealth https://linktr.ee/luellajonk https://www.360salesconsulting.com/

I discovered Kim’s Podcast, The Wall Street Coach, after doing some of my work around money and money mindset. I invited Kim as a guest to explain to my listeners that it doesn’t matter what industry we work in, the lifestyle we follow, or what relationship we are in…everyone suffers from self-sabotage. Until we realize how disabusing this narrative can become, we will never reach that point of behavior change that we so strongly seek.   Kim Curtin, the Wall Street Coach, helps traders & others end the cycle of self-sabotage. Kim wrote a book called Transforming Wall Street: A Conscious Path for a New Future. In the book, she lists five practices to heal and transform your life and work.   Kim’s book - Transforming Wall Street: A Conscious Path for a New Future Other books mentioned:   No Worries: How to Live a Stress Free Financial Life Lost and Found: Unexpected Revelations About Food and Money The Hero’s Journey Money Harmony   Relevant Links | Social Media: https://luellajonk.com/ https://www.instagram.com/luellajonk/ https://www.facebook.com/luellajonkemotionalhealth https://linktr.ee/luellajonk https://www.linkedin.com/in/kimanncurtin   This podcast provides general health information and should not be considered a substitute for professional medical advice. What a great conversation we had today! Michelle is my kind of gal. She is all about taking responsibility, becoming empowered, and an advocate of both nutrition and talk therapy to heal our trauma – a true inspiration to all who listen to this episode. Michelle Reittinger is a mother, wife, daughter and also a woman who has healed what many would call an unhealable mental illness, that is unless psychotropic drugs are used. Michelle advocates a radical shift in the treatment of bipolar using a research-based, integrated treatment plan to facilitate healing. I do this through public speaking, a podcast called The Upside of Bipolar, a blog, and a program called The Upsiders' Tribe, where I teach the steps to heal bipolar. Is it true that the formula to lose weight is less calories and more exercise? Do women have a more difficult time to lose weight than men? Does stress play a large role in weight loss?  In general, do you feel our health is more compromised in North America than in Europe? Is prioritizing protein over any other macronutrient as crucial as we often hear? Does exercise directly improve our microbiome?   In today’s episode, I asked Dr. Berry these questions to provide my listeners with guidance and insight into making proper food choices and how this relates to our metabolic health and mood. The episode confirms what you may already know, and that is, what happens after food passes our lips is not as simple a process as we might like to believe. Many factors contribute to our physical and mental health.   Sarah Berry is a Reader in Nutritional Sciences at King’s College London and Chief Scientist at ZOE Ltd. The ugly concoction of guilt, shame and self-loathing is most often the underlying reason why you are struggling and in need of therapy. Ridding shame is not easy, but when you begin to love yourself more by honouring your core needs, it becomes easier.  In this episode, I present three clients I have seen in therapy: Client one lost her job because she did not care enough for herself. Client two is slipping into burnout and depression because of taking on too much.  Client three is a man committing multiple marital affairs because of low self-worth.     Relevant Links | Social Media: https://luellajonk.com/ https://www.instagram.com/luellajonk/ https://www.facebook.com/luellajonkemotionalhealth https://linktr.ee/luellajonk   This podcast provides general health information and should not be considered a substitute for professional medical advice. I love interviewing women who can be described as ‘ a piece of work’, and Lynne Bowman is that woman. She is really a masterpiece. Now in her late 70s, I can tell that she has truly embraced life. When she was pregnant with her first child and told she was prediabetic, she made some lifestyle changes that proved to be highly transformative for her physical and mental health. Lynne has always valued self-care so as to care for others.   Lynne, author of Amazon best-seller "Brownies for Breakfast," has been featured at women's expos throughout the country, teaming with actress Deidre Hall to write and publish "Deidre Hall's Kitchen Closeup" (2010) and Deidre Hall's "How Does She Do It?" In this episode, I discuss how living ‘The European Lifestyle’, or TEL, is the easiest approach to regain physical and emotional health. Why? Because, in general, Europeans are not so ‘rushed’ and, in doing so, become mindless. When mindlessness meets stress, the brain secretes stress hormone messages to the body, which spikes insulin. When insulin is secreted, glucose gets shuttled into the cell, and when there is an overabundance of glucose, it is stored as fat.   When we lack connection, peace and happiness, we naturally are more prone to stress. Chronic stress and, consequently, chronic insulin spikes make us dumber and fatter. Chronic insulin also occurs by other means.  Constant snacking and excessive carbohydrates in the form of simple sugars and processed foods, which lack fibre, also encourage high insulin spikes. Toxins in the form of pesticides and herbicides and the absence of nutrient-dense foods are other ways our metabolism gets hijacked.   In summary,  there is not just one factor that causes us to lose the battle of the bulge; there are many.  Enjoy the show.    Relevant Links | Social Media: https://luellajonk.com/ https://www.instagram.com/luellajonk/ https://www.facebook.com/luellajonkemotionalhealth https://linktr.ee/luellajonk   This podcast provides general health information and should not be considered a substitute for professional medical advice. Last spring, I hired a photographer for a photo shoot while vacationing in Europe. We became friends because of her welcoming and friendly nature. So, when I decided to do an episode on the connection to a Mediterranean lifestyle with better mental and physical health, I asked Anastasiia to describe the lifestyle. My hope in doing so is that you can put the puzzle pieces together to find peace and happiness as well.   In summary, drop your need to compare and be ‘better’ than anyone else. Just BE yourself. Do what brings you joy each day and stick to it.   Whether it is being more mindful about everything you do – including noticing the importance of being kind, or part of a community, or the quality of food you decide to ingest, or resting more and working less… bigger, better, stronger, faster doesn’t seem to be the answer to our well-being.     Relevant Links | Social Media: https://luellajonk.com/ https://www.instagram.com/luellajonk/ https://www.facebook.com/luellajonkemotionalhealth https://linktr.ee/luellajonk https://www.anastasiiaromashova.com/   This podcast provides general health information and should not be considered a substitute for professional medical advice. I loved hearing my client reiterate her past five years of working with me and working on herself. Anne (not her real name) noticed how she often made excuses about why she felt stuck and what she was doing was lying to herself.   Change is never easy and always exciting. I have a few clients whom I joke with and tell them, ‘It’s never a boring session with you.’   That is a true compliment because you know what? Change means new…and if your life is mediocre, you are not evolving, which entails making many mistakes. My job is simply to guide you towards embracing your individuality and reminding you that you are doing this for a reason. Today, I share my views on how I am choosing to live life. I describe why prediction is an illusion and because we constantly try to predict ‘what the right answer is’ whenever we struggle to make a choice, we are wasting many precious moments. The truth is that there are many possibilities of what may happen, and stagnancy rooted in fear is the only bad choice or decision to make. When you ‘do’ rather than ‘view’ life, you learn and grow and evolve. This is the fountain of youth. Inaction is the pathway to disease because it is defined as a lack of movement. Lack of movement means lifelessness. It is, thereby, in essence, hypoxia or death.   Relevant Links | Social Media: https://luellajonk.com/ https://www.instagram.com/luellajonk/ https://www.facebook.com/luellajonkemotionalhealth https://linktr.ee/luellajonk   This podcast provides general health information and should not be considered a substitute for professional medical advice. Nowadays, everyone is looking for tips, tricks, tools, and workarounds to combat their ‘perceived’ weaknesses. That weakness could manifest in the form of psychosocial pain, physical pain, or emotional pain. The truth is, no one sees the world as you do; similarly, no one sees you as you do. So, what are we really comparing our pain to? We can only guess how we should be feeling by how we view our world at any given moment, or what we call our experiences.   You are constantly changing with your environment. You are experiencing your life as it is reflected back to you – but only if you are open to it and present. Your mind can act as your best friend or your worst enemy. How do you make it your friend? You begin a meditation practice, starting with three minutes a day.   Meet today’s guest, Richard Dixey, who will show us how to begin to meditate by starting with three minutes a day. Richard Dixey, PhD, is a scientist and lifelong student of Asian philosophy. I love this episode for its turns and twists and how it unfolds. A past client, dubbed ‘Jay’, graciously offered to be interviewed so that he could describe his experience of moving through the betrayal by his partner.   As with most of the various times that hardship overcame us in life, now, when looking back, we can see the gift that tumultuous time also bestowed on us.    I hope this episode shows you that it is possible to move through an affair respectfully and honorably and the importance of seeking guidance while doing so.     Relevant Links | Social Media: https://luellajonk.com/ https://www.instagram.com/luellajonk/ https://www.facebook.com/luellajonkemotionalhealth https://linktr.ee/luellajonk   This podcast provides general health information and should not be considered a substitute for professional medical advice. I woke up one morning feeling happy, content, fulfilled, and at peace. This happens a lot. Not every day is a great day, but most days are. Why? Because I am nurturing my mind, body, and relationships every day. I try to practice a lot of self-awareness or mindfulness and learn what helps and hinders me. I change my thoughts, what some might call reframing, and life according to changes. And if I can’t find the answers within my self-reflections, I seek the answers elsewhere.   Ignorance drives fear, and education is invaluable. You can’t learn what you unlearned any more than you can’t unsee what you have seen. In this episode, I get very raw and vulnerable. I cry (unexpectedly) because I am human, and I want to be human.  Self-honesty is one of the keys to change; this podcast is all about change.   Offers mentioned in this episode:  2-Day Intensive In Person - Hotel: https://luellajonk.thrivecart.com/2-day-intensive-in-person-hotel/   2-Day Intensive In Person - Office: https://luellajonk.thrivecart.com/2-day-intensive-in-person-office/   2-Day Intensive Virtual: https://luellajonk.thrivecart.com/2-day-intensive-virtual/   Relevant Links | Social Media: https://luellajonk.com/ https://www.instagram.com/luellajonk/ https://www.facebook.com/luellajonkemotionalhealth https://linktr.ee/luellajonk   This podcast provides general health information and should not be considered a substitute for professional medical advice. I just had to get Elizabeth back on the show to bust more myths about weight gain, especially concerning aging. It all comes down to people making excuses or in other words, choosing REASONS over RESULTS. We can tell many stories about why you feel your body is different. You have unique tastes, preferences, and variances in DNA, but ultimately, that may account for 20% (at most) of the differences. So, where does the remaining 80% of your body composition stem from? Lifestyle choices, baby!  Elizabeth Resnick is a 57-year-old double-certified health coach and author who helps women of all ages lose weight so they can love their bodies AND their lives.     Happy Healthy and Hot is a unique blend of mindset, nutrition, and fitness that works. Women seek Elizabeth out to help them lose weight and end up gaining so much more: energy, confidence, and improved relationships.    Elizabeth has been featured on TV and on numerous podcasts. In 2020, at the age of 53, she was a finalist in the Maxim Cover Girl competition, competing with women in their twenties and thirties.     You can find Elizabeth on Instagram @happyhealthyandhot_elizabeth, on TikTok @happyhealthyandhot, and on Facebook as Elizabeth Diehl Resnick.     Relevant Links | Social Media: https://luellajonk.com/ https://www.instagram.com/luellajonk/ https://www.facebook.com/luella.jonk.7 https://linktr.ee/luellajonk https://www.instagram.com/happyhealthyandhot_elizabeth/   This podcast provides general health information and should not be considered a substitute for professional medical advice. In today’s solo episode, I do a fun take on all the things we should do if we want to sink the relation-SHIP. The best way to solve any disaster is prevention. Just like in health, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure; it is no different in relationships. In business, it is called reverse engineering. In medicine, it is called functional medicine. In psychology, it is called inversion thinking.   So, I will coin my own phrase related to relationship woes; “A drop in expectations is worth an ocean of happiness.” You would be much better off incorporating more goodwill and giving your partner a lot of grace. Because folks, we are only human.     Relevant Links | Social Media: https://luellajonk.com/ https://www.instagram.com/luellajonk/ https://www.facebook.com/luella.jonk.7 https://linktr.ee/luellajonk   This podcast provides general health information and should not be considered a substitute for professional medical advice. As someone who drinks a lot of decaf coffee, it is important to know I am only ingesting quality ingredients when I drink, especially my coffee. Drinking coffee is a ritual I want to continue doing, which is why I decided to seek out the truth.   Chad Polski is the owner of Blue Spruce Decaf Coffee Co., and his passion is roasting organic arabica, chemical-free decaf coffee. As a young Dad, working full time and doing ‘all the things’ Chad noticed his anxiety was peaking. He also realized that his caffeine consumption was contributing to his racing heart. This is where the world’s hunger for great-tasting decaf coffee and Chad’s passion connected to create a product that people were begging for…a clean, great-tasting chemical and mold-free decaffeinated coffee bean.   In this episode, we hit on all the nuances of producing a great decaf coffee and why the organic chemical-free decaffeination process of Swiss Water is so important.     Relevant Links | Social Media: https://luellajonk.com/ https://www.instagram.com/luellajonk/ https://www.facebook.com/luella.jonk.7 https://linktr.ee/luellajonk https://bluesprucedecaf.com   This podcast provides general health information and should not be considered a substitute for professional medical advice. In this solo episode, I explore the nuances of male emotion, drawing on my personal experiences as well as the insights I've gleaned from my professional practice. I examine the biological and cultural factors that shape the male psyche, and why respecting each individual's unique emotional needs is crucial for fostering healthy, fulfilling relationships. As a psychotherapist who's spent over two decades working with male clients, I've witnessed firsthand the growing confusion and pressure that men face when it comes to emotional expression. In today's rapidly evolving social landscape, the expectations placed on men to be simultaneously stoic and sensitive have become increasingly complex and, at times, even contradictory. Get ready for an unflinching look at the challenges that men navigate, from the boardroom to the home front. Through empathy and understanding, we'll work to dismantle harmful stereotypes and empower men to proudly embrace the full spectrum of their feelings. After all, true strength lies not in the suppression of emotion, but in the courage to acknowledge it. In this episode I discuss how striving to maintain balance between your work and personal life at any given time is essentially impossible. Instead, you need to see these two entities as being in a constant flux, and you need to respect that our world is constantly changing. There will be times where you are required more in one area of your life than another. It becomes easier when you realize there is no such thing as good or bad, right or wrong. Nothing is so black and white regarding individual personalities, values, and beliefs. What always does work, however, is when you simplify the situation using a feeling state called ‘compassion’. If you incorporate compassion into the golden rule, everyone wins in business and in life.   Relevant Links | Social Media: https://luellajonk.com/ https://www.instagram.com/luellajonk/ https://www.facebook.com/luellajonkemotionalhealth https://linktr.ee/luellajonk   This podcast provides general health information and should not be considered a substitute for professional medical advice. Not every conversation advocates for problem-solving or open displays of vulnerability. The only conversations that advocate for these behaviors are those in which change needs to happen.    It is typical that in business, we have a problem-solving conversation—not one that calls for a lot of emotion or vulnerability. Why is that? Because we are focused on the end goal, we subsequently check our egos at the door into the boardroom. In business, we know we need to work as a team player or are kicked out of the tribe.    A personal relationship can be vulnerable if we want to establish a deep connection. But most conversations that happen in the kitchen do not require a deep connection. You can plan those for date night. Most of the time, in our personal relationships, we just need to talk and work together to manage the mothership. We need to find the best solution for team WE, a.k.a. our family or our relationship.    Unfortunately, team WE often gets kicked to the side in personal relationships and team I or ME sneaks in. What I want, what is best for ME, etc.     Relevant Links | Social Media: https://luellajonk.com/ https://www.instagram.com/luellajonk/ https://www.facebook.com/luellajonkemotionalhealth https://linktr.ee/luellajonk   This podcast provides general health information and should not be considered a substitute for professional medical advice. Alexander Harmsen is an experienced tech entrepreneur, CEO, board member, and advisor, having founded multiple successful companies and organizations. His work has seen him produce multiple AI-driven products, scale sales globally, hire world-class executives, manage hundreds of employees, raise over $30M in venture capital, and successfully navigate an M&A process. He is focused on hard problems that have a meaningful impact on the world, with 2 kids, and a wife who is equally as ambitious, running her own venture-backed pharma tech business. As I interviewed Alex, I saw many congruencies between running a good business and running a good relationship. If one person’s energy causes a cog in the wheel to break, the whole system can shut down. If one team member is not in sync with the rest of the team, the system will not work. Sometimes, the answer is not just to solve the problem as you would a math equation; it can be much more delicate than that. Alex has the same mindset as a skilled founder as he does as a partner and a dad. This conversation advocates for the willingness to be curious and take the time to answer the questions posed to you, whether it is from a team member, your child or your spouse.  As a relationship therapist and coach, the topic of sex and the disagreements surrounding sex are not uncommonin my office. Mostly, the disagreement communicated to me is due to the lack of frequency from those who identify themselves as male in gender. As my guest, Elizabeth McGrath, a sex and relationship therapist and sexuality educator located in the Los Angeles area, explains so eloquently, sexuality and exploring one’s preferences, level of desire, and frequency widely varies across different individuals, as well as across the lifespan of the couples’ time together.  Ms. McGrath works with individuals and couples, guiding them as they learn to value their own pleasure and overcome obstacles to satisfying sexual self-expression, resulting in exhilarating sex lives, embodied attachment and fulfilling relationships with themselves and others.  In 2011, Elizabeth graduated with a master’s in social work and became a certified yoga instructor and somatic breath worker, which added a physical and breath-focused level to her work. Trained in the Somatica Method™, she speaks both locally and internationally about sexuality, gender, sexual expression and sexual performativity.   Connect with Elizabeth McGrath here: https://thesomaticsextherapist.com/   Relevant Links | Social Media: https://luellajonk.com/ https://www.instagram.com/luellajonk/ https://www.facebook.com/luellajonkemotionalhealth https://linktr.ee/luellajonk   This podcast provides general health information and should not be considered a substitute for professional medical advice. In this solo episode, I discuss how the most successful business owners, executives and team players listen more than they speak. These folks do not have the need to be the centre of attention. Instead, they become curious and inquisitive when speaking to their business or intimate partner. They are more interested in you than in themselves and their prerogatives. This is, of course, true in personal relationships. John Gottman, a well-known psychologist specializing in interpersonal relationships, often examined how conflict was resolved during political discussions during times of war, hoping to help his clients work through marital relationships. Great leaders listen more than they speak to influence their speaking partner. That’s the secret sauce.    Relevant Links | Social Media: https://luellajonk.com/ https://www.instagram.com/luellajonk/ https://www.facebook.com/luellajonkemotionalhealth https://linktr.ee/luellajonk   This podcast provides general health information and should not be considered a substitute for professional medical advice. I am so excited to have John Gray back for a second time on my podcast! In today’s episode, I ask Dr. Gray to define the terms masculine and feminine energy and the importance of balancing these energy types between couples. I further inquired about his views on why marriages are not being maintained and divorce rates continue to soar. We also discuss what couples should concentrate on to build and maintain a closer connection.    John Gray is the author of the most well-known and trusted relationship book of all time, Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus. USA Today listed his book as one of the top 10 most influential books of the last quarter-century. In hardcover, it was the #1 bestselling book of the 1990s. Dr. Gray’s books are translated into approximately 45 languages in more than 100 countries and continues to be a bestseller.   Dr. Gray has written over 20 books. His most recent book is Beyond Mars and Venus. Conflict is inevitable in any relationship. In fact, if you don’t have conflict, I would question the integrity of the relationship. Conflict means passion and a zest for life. However, when couples experience conflict, they often feel they are failing or doing something wrong.  In this episode, I dissect the most common areas of communication breakdown and the analogies of what it takes to create success in your business to bring in some good examples of strong communication and leadership skills, not to mention the amount of hard work, passion, and tenacity of creating a successful business or career. For example, if you were to negotiate an increase in salary with your boss, would you be looking down at your phone? No! Then why would you do that during a bid for connection with your partner?  The many Cs necessary for nailing down communication include Curiosity, Collaboration, Connection, and Compromise. I also threw in compassion because we often need a good dose to rid ourselves of resentment and anger and help see another’s perspective.     Love the One You're With: https://luellajonk.thrivecart.com/love-the-one-youre-with/   Relevant Links | Social Media: https://luellajonk.com/ https://www.instagram.com/luellajonk/ https://www.facebook.com/luella.jonk.7 https://linktr.ee/luellajonk   This podcast provides general health information and should not be considered a substitute for professional medical advice. I had a great interview with Cassie Howard, a well-known intuitive business strategist and money mentor (Yes, please). In this podcast episode, you will get to know Cassie more on a personal level and not just another business coach.   What attracted me the most to Cassie is that she believes in you as a client; that is, you can be, do, and have anything you want and need right now, and you can experience it in your own way. She strongly advocates for work ethic, staying power, taking big, bold moves, and long-game focus alongside her many teachings on money, sales, and social media.   Cassie Howard is most known for her savvy sales skills and her ability to make business simple, fun, AND sustainable. Her approach to business and money has attracted women's attention worldwide in their own attempt to build the mind-blowing business of their dreams. What she teaches in her programs, masterclasses, and individual training is something that she embodies in her own company every day, a company that has generated over 8-figures cash in just a few short years. She enjoys breaking the rules and doing what others tell her she can't. Her unique way of doing business has changed the game in the coaching and mentoring space. Many of her clients have surpassed milestones and rapidly created shocking success. Cassie is a huge proponent of success on *your* terms.   ALSO! For those who love matcha but haven’t found a brand that they have fallen in love with, Cassie also felt similarly years ago and therefore sourced and created her own product line of Matcha.
