There are current events related to doing well by doing good, particularly Climate Week NYC. This week, there are hundreds if not thousands of events happening concurrently for the annual gathering of Climate Week NYC, as well as the Sustainable Development Impact Summit, as well as the United Nations General Assembly, and a variety of other Summits happening concurrently in the New York City area. These events draw Business Leaders, Community leaders, Financial leaders, and a variety of others in between together. Why?  Generally three reasons. Guest: Sandra Baer.  From conversations with city leaders, climate advocates, private sector and non-profit executives, should we not go back to a “new normal”?  Was the “old normal”, especially in cities, often too quick to adopt the newest innovation, rushing to solutions, too fast, and often missing the opportunity to think bigger, to look more deeply at a problem and all of its interdependencies?  Sandra frames a way to go forward with new collaborations, to go beyond small incremental changes and reimagine new solutions for some of the world’s most intransigent problems. In some of the world’s most courageous cities.  To cap it off, in this Episode we'll share examples of 3 cities whose leaders saw an urgent need to deal with a truly difficult challenge—their work to ask the tough questions enabled them to uncover a different approach to fixing a big problem.  Links to engage: https://personalcities.org/  Music by Alex Bochel; https://soundcloud.com/alex-bochel and alexbochelmusic@gmail.com  #personalcities #rethnikingglobalurbanization #questionstorming #rebuildingtrust @sandrambaer @personalcities --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/TheMarketAndTheGood/message
Guest: Sandra Baer.  There is an urgent need to go forward with new collaborations and innovations as we face multiple crises including: a global recession and vexing income inequality, social and racial injustice, divisive and protectionist politics and the continuing effects of the climate crisis.  In our last podcast, we talked about Question Storming, an innovative way to get to the heart of a problem by asking a difficult question and keep asking questions until we can uncover the many layers of complexity that underlie the challenge and ultimately help us to get to new, maybe never-before discovered solutions.  In this session we demonstrate a question storming session on “How Can we Rebuild Trust in a Broken World?” as we learn from the pandemic experience.
