016: My Personal Journey With Epstein-Barr Virus And Why I Mend Myself Well Daily

I had a wake up call from the Universe! Since contracting Epstein- Barr Virus as a child, I’ve had to deal with a weakened immune system. I was always sick until I found chiropractic care at age 17 and started learning about wellness. Recently I’ve been taking on a lot of projects at home, at work and in life! I’ve been demanding a lot from my body, my mind and my well-being. Since Mend Yourself Well is no longer just a passion project, I’ve decided to bring the movement into my chiropractic office. Within 24 hours after announcing that I would be increasing my office hours I started to feel stressed! As a doctor, I felt like I could never have anything wrong with me. I didn’t want to seem weak or vulnerable until I realized it only makes me human! Because of Epstein-Barr Virus I have to mend myself well every single day. Mending Yourself Well is more than just taking your supplements or getting a massage. Mending Yourself Well is about self-discovery and self-determination! It’s about loving yourself and taking the best care of yourself that you can! You have to be willing to make healthy choices, to say “no” to things that are burning you out, “goodbye” to the things that are stressing you out, “yes” to the things you actually want and “yes” to the life you want to live. I had to mend myself well so that I could fully express my life and fully become the best version of myself that I can and now I’m a living example of what that looks like! I want you to join me on this journey so stay tuned for future episodes where I will be sharing more ways to Mend Yourself Well! I hope that through this podcast episode and through future podcast episodes you can learn to incorporate healthy choices into your daily life! I’ve put together a PDF for you to make easy, healthy lifestyle choices. 015: Overcoming Life’s Challenges After Looking Death In the Face | Interview with Holly Mutlu | Life Coach and Emotional Wellness Expert

For today’s episode, I invited my friend Holly Mutlu to give us some insight on finding hope and healing in the midst of anxiety and depression. Holly is a Life Coach and an Emotional Wellness expert. She also is a mom to 4 boys and has recently gained a daughter-in-law!  Whilst working for over 25 years in varying areas of ministry, Holly found her calling to help other women overcome their challenges and learn how to live life to the fullest.   With amazing courage, Holly shares 2 stories, the first being story of overcoming a stillbirth and the obstacles that she faced afterward. As a women in Leadership in her local church, she found it difficult to seek out help. Like many people in a position of leadership, they often face the question, “I’m supposed to be one helping people, who can help me?”. After seeking help from a counselor, Holly took this question and made it her mission to help women who feel the same as she once did.   With the second personal story, the passing for her father-in-law, Holly explains how in this second encounter with death, she made a different decision to not let death win. At her father-in-law’s bedside, she could not help but think how this man had lived his life to the fullest. Taking this insight, she now teaches others how to not get caught up in being comfortable but how to be empowered to be bold and achieve whatever goal they have in mind.   Holly explains how we should not let emotions control our decisions. Instead, we should use those emotions as a gage to know that there may be a deeper, underlying problem. The key for overcoming emotional struggles is to look within and determine where the problem is and decide to make a change.   Chime in to listen and learn how controlling your emotions is one important piece of mending yourself well, one day at a time! Get Holly's Expectation Evaluation HERE: http://bit.ly/expectationevaluation   You can find out more about Holly below: A mom of four boys (and recently a daughter in law) Holly enjoys spending time with her family and her husband of almost 20 years. As a women who struggled with anxiety after giving birth to a stillborn daughter, Holly has made it her mission to help women find hope and healing in the midst of anxiety and depression. Holly has served in different capacities of ministry for the 25 years and has found her passion as she’s worked with hundreds of women to help them overcome challenges and start living their lives to the fullest. 014: The Most Important Quest

I've been M.I.A. Sorry.... but not sorry!  I've felt like I was lacking the ability to share anything worthy over the last few weeks as I've bee stretched thin with a big speech, launching a group coaching program, and of course, finding time to work on me because remember.... I am mending myself whole and well each and every single day!!! I had an epiphany and am so excited to be back sharing with you!!! The Most Important Quest is YOU!!! Searching for yourself! This episode is all about the importance of self-discovery. I truly believe this is the key to my happiness. My growth. My purpose. My journey needs self-discovery. In October of 2015 was the turning point for me after struggling with depression for an entire year... and I credit my journey of self-discovery to getting me out of that dark place.  And this journey of self-discovery keeps evolving! You would think after 2.5 years I wouldn't have much to learn... but that couldn't be further from the truth.  Around every challenge, struggle, speed-bump... there is a new lesson to learn about myself. Yes... myself. Not my husband. Not anyone else but myself. My energy has been focused inward and I've enjoyed the process.  Stay tuned for the next episode where I share the best ways to begin learning about yourself!!! Enjoy! Dr. Jenna P.S. I have an exciting event planned for May 5th in the Dallas area for Women With A Dream and you're going to want to be there! 013: Happy Accident: Reminder To Question Everything

Have you ever had an embarrassing moment that ended up teaching you a valuable lesson? Well, I just did! A couple of weeks ago, I bought a ticket to a networking event in Dallas! I was so excited to share my newly printed Podcast business cards and tell a room full of 100 strangers outside of Rockwall county about how they can jump on the journey to mending themselves well! The day of the event had arrived and I had planned my entire day around it. I did my hair, bought a new outfit and slid on a nice pair of high heels. As I was driving to this event, it started raining, but with determination and my excitement not at all dimmed by the random occurrence of this weather, I trekked on. I parked my car and threw my jacket over my head to cover my hair from the downpour of rain. When I got into the building, my toes were cold and wet from the puddles I had just walked through but the thrill of the new adventure kept my mind focused on the goal for evening. I walked around and was directed toward a seat. No one asked to see my ticket I had paid nearly $30 for. Confused why the atmosphere was so relaxed, I continued to my seat at a circular booth with 6 new faces. After a short conversation with the people around me about how it was my first time at an event like this and some confused gazes, it dawned on me that this was no networking event! I had walked into a group of people who were gathered to question their beliefs around religion, faith and Jesus. At first I wanted to laugh wondering how I ended up here. I truly believe there are no accidents, and this event was a reminder that it IS important to QUESTION EVERYTHING!   Listen in to learn more about this powerful lesson and why you too should find a safe place to question your beliefs!   Be WHOLE & WELL my friend, Dr. Jenna   For more info check out our website: www.mendyourselfwell.com To join our private Facebook Community, JOIN HERE To “like” and follow our Podcast’s Facebook Page, CLICK HERE CLICK HERE to schedule a Discovery Call with Dr. Jenna

011: Health, Hope and Happiness

I GET FIRED UP IN THIS EPISODE!! I share only a portion of ALL that I could share on THIS topic… I could talk for DAYS on THIS topic. On how amazing the human body is, and the amazing healing potential each and every one of us holds within.  The goal of this podcast is to inspire and encourage you, wherever you are in your health journey, that your body wants to heal. But if it’s not healing, it’s because your body is not in the right environment to heal. Maybe its stress. Or toxins. Or bad posture. Or what you are eating and drinking. Or what you’ve done the last 10,20, 30, 40 years. So this will open your mind to ONE ingredient that is vital for mending yourself well, finding the missing puzzle piece(s), the missing ingredients your body, mind & soul need for their own unique recipe for healing. There is hope, and you need to be open to this idea as you continue to listen to all future episodes! I’ve seen and heard of amazing stories, and I’ve witnessed my own personal healing journey and I want you to know there is ALWAYS hope.  If you need help finding the missing ingredient(s) and help figuring out how to create a healing environment for YOUR journey, please email me at support@mendyourselfwell.com I would gladly help point you in the right direction! Jenna

010: 3 Tips to Attracting YOUR Dreams

One of the reasons I love hosting a podcast is that with the help of technology, I could literally record an episode at any moment. My favorite moments to record these episodes are when I get a dose of inspiration.   Well let me tell you, I’ve been having an inspiring month! And I share all the juicy details with you as I record this episode from the showroom floor of my local Infiniti dealership as I sit in the brand new model of my dream car, which I actually purchased an older model this time last year.   I share the 3 things you can start doing TODAY that will help you start attracting anything in your life, whether it’s material things you want (which I can tell you these don’t do much to help us permanently mend ourselves well … speaking from experience), or if its better relationships, better health, more peace in your job, more peace in where you are in life, or whatever it is, I believe these 3 tips can help anyone!   Listen in from the driver's seat as I share these super simple strategies you can start implementing today!   For more info check out our website: www.mendyourselfwell.com   Go get those dreams,   Dr. Jenna

009: Meditation 101 | My Personal Experience

Meditation never came easy for me. I’ve heard for decades that meditation can be life changing. I had tried several times to actually sit and meditate. But I didn’t know exactly how to dive into this discipline. NOw, after one month of committing to this practice, I find this practice calling for me.   It all started about a month ago in December of 2017 when I interviewed one of my first guests for the show, Dr. Vic Manzo. I asked him what was one thing his wellness regimen couldn’t live without. He explained how meditation has been part of his morning routine for over a decade and how when he doesn’t mediate, he doesn’t show up as his best self.   So after decades of signs and nudges, I took this as my final wake-up call. And with New Year’s only days away from our interview, I made the commitment to incorporate meditation into my routine.   I cleared a space in my closet. I set-up my pillows. Downloaded an APP on my phone for background noise, and I got into a place I could rest my body and my mind for a few minutes a day. I started with 15 minutes and quickly found myself asking for 30. “No, just a little bit longer.”   In 30 days, I found myself finding time to meditate at least 20 of those days. And each day, I look forward to it more and more. The insights I’ve gained, the clarity & the peace I’ve attracted, I know will only continue to deepen as I continue to allow myself to dive into this practice.   In this episode I share a few tips with you to begin your practice of mediation. I can honestly say, you’ll be really glad you did. I know I am!   I look forward to sharing my progress with you and keeping you informed in how meditation is helping me Mend Myself Well!   For more info check out our website: www.mendyourselfwell.com   Until next time,   Dr. Jenna

007: What Really Serves You? | Taking a “Life’s Inventory”

When I decided to graduate from my depressive days and step into and create a life I love, I knew I had to reinvent myself. WHOA! This was one of the best things I could have ever of done! As you might expect, I am a new person because of it. And as my journey of mending myself well continues, I am still refining this process! So here in this episode, I teach you how to reinvent YOURSELF! You don’t have to do it all at once, but the first step is really taking a “life’s inventory.” What do you believe? Who do you spend your time with? What things take up space in your home and at your office? What are the thoughts you say to yourself each day? What do you do for fun? Where do you spend your free time? How do you spend your money? This is just the beginning of really evaluating if your current life is allowing any space for your dream life to show up. Take inventory. You too might have to make a few changes in order to allow space for the right inventory to start showing up. You too may have to let go of a few people, things and ideas that are no longer serving you and exchange them for NEW ones that do! In this episode I share my own “inventory exchange” with you and how I reinvented myself! I hope my stories are beneficial for you on your journey. I would love to hear what you think, or where you’re still stuck. Send me your email: support@mendyourselfwell.com to open up a converstation. Also, if you are a fan of the show, would you be so kind to leave us a 5 star review in itunes? It really helps other people just like you find the show and begin their own journey! Your kind words are greatly appreciated! Want to begin your own transformation? We are enrolling now for our 12 week Group Transformation beginning February 11! CLICK HERE to learn more! 006: What I Thought I Never Had Was There the WHOLE time: A Love Story

I’ve been excited (and totally nervous) about telling this story since before I even conceived the idea of hosting this podcast. An idea I had in my head, a story I made up and believed my entire life, was proved wrong in an instant. An area of my life that brought me so much pain, frustration, hurt, loss, feelings of incompleteness, sadness, emptiness, fleeting moments of what I thought was what I was looking for, came over me out of nowhere. We are talking DECADES of suffering unnecessarily was shifted in just a brief moment. The lesson in life I had needed to learn came to me at the most perfect time in my life. I was open and ready to receive this lesson. It couldn’t have happened any other way. I had created space for it. It was ready to find me. And my life has forever changed because of this experience. If you want to know what it is…. You gotta listen to this episode! I’m getting vulnerable you guys! I would love to hear from you how you enjoyed this story! Send me an email at support@mendyourselfwell.com or share and awesome 5 star review which totally helps other people just like you find this podcast! I would love it if you could help me spread the love & light! Namaste, Dr. Jenna

005: A Story of a Recovering People Pleaser: More on Expectations | Codependency | and Accepting an Imperfect Life

In this episode I dive in deeper on the conversation I had with Heather in episode 4. I share my own personal struggles as a recovering People Pleaser, the expectations I’ve put on myself, which lead to a downward spiraling case of depression, and living with this idea that I had to be perfect in every moment. As you could imagine, living like this for a lifetime would lead one to crash and burn, and that is what I did in 2015 at the age of 31. And at weakest point in this journey, instead of caving in and getting on antidepressants, I found a counselor to work with. This counselor helped me open my eyes to one of the biggest problems I had, having too many unrealistic expectations of myself. My journey of mending myself well began when I started acknowledging these ideas that I didn’t have to be perfect, that my husband wasn’t responsible for my happiness, and that I had no control over anyone other than myself. This episode is one where I get comfortable being uncomfortable. One where I really start to open up and give you a glimpse into what I’ve been through, and strategies I’ve used to overcome some of my biggest pain points in life. I share all of this because I know too many of us think we are all alone on our journey. That we have no one to talk to, but that’s not true. I hope me opening up and sharing my journey helps you see that part of your healing will begin when you can do the same. And more importantly, when you begin to also let go of ideas that are not serving you, you’ll be able to experience a level of freedom WITHIN that will be refreshing. It worked for me! I’d love to connect. If you think you too can benefit from a process of shedding old ideas, getting comfortable being uncomfortable, and learning to embrace the journey to mending yourself well, I invite you to join me in a 12 week group experience where we will do just this. Our first meeting is February 11th (moved up from January 28thth) and I am looking for a few more busy & driven women who are ready to step into a life that they LOVE. If you are ready, apply HERE!

004: Guest: Heather Nichols | Having a Conversation About Expectations

Recording this episode was fun for many reasons. We got to know each other a little deeper over tea in my office. This was also the first “interview” I’ve ever done, besides interviewing prospective employees. I’m always up for the challenge of learning a new technique and with this sweet soul, there was definitely no feelings of pressure or intimidation.   Heather and I got to hangout and have a real deep conversation about our lives and how expectations of ourselves and others can jeopardize our wellbeing.  When was the last time you sat and took of the “superficial” hat, peeled down your walls and got vulnerable with a girlfriend you could trust! Wow… it was a good feeling all the way around. Not our entire conversation was recorded, but I think for future episodes we can dive into some of the more vulnerable pieces! Let’s just cover the basics of expectations here in this 4th Mend Yourself Well episode!   Heather Nichols is a local Rockwall mom of three, balancing motherhood, small business ownership and serving the Lord. She's passionate about encouraging other women through the amazing season of motherhood. She loves serving her community through coaching youth sports,  substitute teaching, volunteering with Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep remembrance photography and teaching in the Children's Ministry on Sunday mornings at Lake Pointe Church.   Have any questions or want to connect with myself or Heather a little deeper, send us an email and we’d love to connect: support@mendyourselfwell.com   Want more info? 003: Practicing Self-Care: Being in the Moment Every Moment

In today’s episode I am literally practicing self-care as I record this episode. I find some quiet time where I can just sit by the lake and soak up nature, and watch the ducks!   In this moment I realize how grateful I am that I can have this time, to just be in the moment. I don’t have to be anywhere else. I don’t have to do anything. I am not rushing. I can just be. I’ve waited years to JUST BE. Just be present. Just be relaxed. To just be with myself.   I share what my journey of the last two years has looked like. I share that self-care is a continuum. Sometimes we can treat ourselves to these fleeting moments of self-care, like getting our nails done, pampering ourselves to a massage, taking a walk, or just hanging out in a cafe while we sip on our coffee. The old me found these moments of self-care to be what got me through the toughest times, when I felt like I was just hanging by a thread.   The deeper I go, the further down this continuum I explore, I notice that self-care is becoming more mindful for me. That self-care is in each moment, every moment. I am experiencing, for the first time in my life, that peace, joy, happiness, and gratitude are no longer fleeting, they are here to stay. They have become a part of me, in each moment.   In this episode I encourage you to find and explore your own continuum. To honor yourself where ever you are, and to love yourself in each moment. Your journey, and your place on this self-care continuum is evolving. There is hope. There is a light at the end of the tunnel!   You deserve taking a time-out to smell the roses, to watch the ducks sunbathe, and you are worthy of love. But first, love yourself with all your might and begin to witness others sending you more grace and love as well.   If you like the show be sure to forward it on to a friend and leave us an awesome 5 star review, it surely would be appreciated!   Have a specific topic you’d like to be covered on the show, please reach out to us via email at support@mendyourselfwell.com or check out our website www.mendyourselfwell.com   The light in me honors the light in you, Namaste!   <3 Dr. Jenna

001: Mending Yourself Well: What does this look like in YOUR life?

As the first official episode, I waste no time into diving deep into the foundational thoughts behind what it means to mend yourself well. When you think of being well, I encourage you to look at your WHOLE life, each area of your life is contributing to your overwall wholeness, your overall wellness, and how you show up in the world!   Two years ago, I was at a crossroad in my life. I was in a deep dark depression for almost an entire year. I had a choice. I could have continued down the path of despair, disappointment, depression, OR I could look at my problems head on and actually BECOME strong and courageous enough to tackle them. To get to the root cause. I uncover the entire reason WHY I got to this place in the first place   I was on a mission to diving deep, soul-searching, and learning to start taking care of myself for the first time in my life. I didn’t know it at the time, but I began my own journey of mending myself well and now that I’ve learned a few things, I am so excited to share my knowledge, wisdom and inspiring stories to help you on your journey!   I think you’ll like this episode if you’re wanting an overview of what I hope to cover in future episodes. If you have any questions, or would like to have a specific topic covered on the show, please reach out to us via email at support@mendyourselfwell.com   Be sure if you like the show to forward it on to a friend and leave us an awesome 5 star review, it surely would be appreciated!   Until we meet again, Be whole and well my friend!   Your WHOLElistic Coach, Dr. Jenna Zellars

002: The 3 Simple Steps to Begin Your Path | Visualize | Prepare | and Commit

The day my journey of mending myself well really began when I made the decision to pick myself up. When I decided enough was enough. When I woke up to the idea that a better life was waiting for me, I just had to do the work to earn it.   I had been playing small and living a life less than I was destined for. My first step in all my transformational moments have always been to picture what exactly it is that I want. When you visiualize the outcome or the path that you want more of, amazing things start to unfold.   But anytime we try to create change in our lives, all too often the universe meets us with resistance and that very change that we wanted is now hard and uncomfortable. Can I give you a little secret? It’s supposed to be hard and uncomfortable. Growth only happens in this spot I like to call the sweet spot.   So my tip, and the second step is to begin your path is to prepare for discomfort by BECOMING the person you need to be in order to be able to PUSH through the pain, the discomfort, and the challenging times that WILL be there. YOU CAN DO IT!   And this brings me back to the day my transformation began, which is the third step. DECIDE. Decide you are ready. Decide you deserve better. Decide you are capable of being whole and well. Once you make this declaration, and you’ve done a little preparation work behind the scenes, you will be unstoppable! It worked for me, now it’ll work for you!!!   Time to get to work! Here are some exercise you can download to help you begin your journey!   If you like the show be sure to forward it on to a friend and leave us an awesome 5 star review, it surely would be appreciated!   Have a specific topic you’d like to be covered on the show, please reach out to us via email at support@mendyourselfwell.com or check out our website www.mendyourselfwell.com Until we meet again, Be whole and well my friend!   Your WHOLElistic Coach, Dr. Jenna Zellars
