Description

The Midnight Club is a podcast designed for those of us who spend several hours per week training for events, many times sacrificing time from friends, family and work, and are happy to just be out there, giving it their all, despite not reaching a podium finish, or sometimes not finishing at all.

The origin of the name comes from the original structure of an Ironman race. Participants would start at 7 am and have 17 hours to complete the course by midnight.

While I find inspiration by well accomplished endurance athletes, and try to follow their example, I also find motivation by the average athlete that has put in so much work just to participate in an event. I still would love to interview people who have and are accomplishing great things. However, I also want to talk to regular folks many of us have not heard of, and get their stories, too.

Clint and Kelly are back!  This time with another race Clint was grossly under-prepared yet was quite emotional.  Clint had the chance to do a race in the hometown of his father, William Timmerman, Jr, and there were a lot of feels. And, lactic acid build-up.
Clint and Kelly recap IM Arizona from November of 2023 and also discuss the 75 Soft Challenge along with other goals for 2024.
Clint and Kelly record live from Lewis & Main in Monroe, Washington and talk about the adventure of Cozumel 70.3 as well as the Hail Mary attempt Clint plans (hopes?) to do for Ironman Arizona.
Clint, Kelly and The Badger meet up at SnoTown Brewery and discuss what not to tell someone on the trail who might not look like a typical hiker or runner.   They also discuss a triathlon for their wedding day and Kelly has an idea to tackle Ironman Texas.
Clint and (not) Kelly interview the artist formerly known as Jack and Alice and get their honest feedback about the 5k fun for St Patrick's Day.  Spoiler alert: they still don't seem as thrilled with the experience as previously reported.
Clint and Kelly discuss the joys of taking the kids on a 5k run for St Patrick's Day and how excited the kids were.  The gravel course made for an extra challenge when pushing a stroller and a wheelchair.
Kelly and Clint are back and report on their Vegas adventure for the Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon down the Vegas Strip.  They made a few interesting pit stops and created their own aid stations and at the end of the day got the job done.  It was a particularly trying day for Clinton.
Clint and Kelly talk about Clint's attempt at a 24 hour swim!

Clint and Kelly gather at Whitaker's (lBase Camp Bar & Grill) near Mt Rainier to talk about the Lake Tye, Lake Meridian and Bonney Lake triathlons.   Clint had to hold back tears.
Clint and Kelly are back with an update to where they've been this summer as well as a big event that happened in the Redneck Riviera of Florida shortly before they headed out.
Clint and Kelly talk about their most recent event: the Ironman 70.3 Victoria.  Just a bit different than IM 70.3 Panama City Beach as the water was about 60 degrees Fahrenheit and the bike course had about 3,300 feet of vertical gain.  However, the experience was thrilling and rewarding nonetheless and Canada is always enjoyable.
Clint and Kelly are joined by fellow Pathetic Triathlete Angie Jackson, Philly native and current Tar Heel State resident.  Angie shares here story of becoming a triathlete and how family has been a great motivator.  She also discusses what it's taken to overcome her fears of the water and other trepidations.    Angie also has some great pearls when it comes to brick workouts and early morning training.
Clint and Kelly are joined by Columbia Athletic Club's very own personal trainer, Nick Korpi.  Nick talks about a personal scare a couple of years ago that has led to a lifestyle change as well as other projects he has in the works.   Kelly mentions how Texas Roadhouse rolls would need to be a part of her final meal and how they really need to have a location open to the public here in Seattle.
Clinton and Kelly are joined by David Tonge, a coach, swimmer and triathlete from Cardiff, Wales.  In 2021 he crushed a world record by swimming 24 hours in an endless pool, swimming all 55km in a full wetsuit. We discuss the preparation, nutrition and mental grit needed to swim a full 24 hours.  David raised ten thousand pounds for Velindre Cancer Centre in Cardiff.   David runs an endless swimming pool training center, Heathwood Swimming, where he trains elite as well as entry level swimmers.  Find out what he's up to on Instagram @davetongeswim and @heathwoodswimming.
Clinton and Kelly talk about Clinton Number One and Clinton Number Two's ski adventure in Colorado.     Kelly also gives Clint a challenge he doesn't think possible, but Clint will pretty much do anything if dared.
Welcome to The Rock!

Welcome to The Rock!

Clint and Kelly meet up at The Rock Pizza and Turnip Salad on International Pizza Day to discuss Florida and the upcoming race season.   Kelly also shares her worst fear of being trapped in submarine with a monkey dressed like a clown.
Clint and Kelly team up to talk about New Year's resolutions and how to be successful at making and keeping a resolution.  They also discuss what makes a good race course.  Most times good doesn't mean fast.
Clint and Kelly return to Cozumel and Clint redeems himself from his 2020 attempt.  They discuss what was different this year, their thoughts on Kristian Blummenfelt's world record on the course, and the other athletes they found inspiring.
Clint and Kelly talk about their adventures in Southern California.  Oceanside 70.3 proved to be the most difficult 70.3 for Clint up until this point, but ended up working out in dramatic fashion.  From a very large surf on the swim to big climbs to sprinting to the finish line to make the final time cut-off, this race had it all.

Clint, Kelly and Mark Blaskovich embark on Trinidad, Colorado, to participate in the inaugural Rad Dirt Fest put on by Lifetime.  There was a 165 mile, 99 mile and 38 mile mountain bike race on Saturday, October 2nd, and a 50k and half marathon run on Sunday, October 3rd.  Clint, Kelly and Mark did the half marathon and enjoyed the wonderous scenery of Southern Colorado (not to mention the unexpected rap scene the night before in Walsenburg, Colorado).
