Upon first glance, with his blonde hair and scruffy face, Jarrett Lyon looked like a typical 23-year-old-man. However, looks can be deceiving. Jarrett was far from ordinary. He was a man with nonverbal autism. And his life was about to take a dark and mysterious turn.

Andrew stared back at the approaching boat in disbelief. It was closing in on them, now less than 50 yards away. How could they not see his boat? If they didn’t change course soon, Andrew feared they’d collide in the middle of the ocean. 

At first it sounded like a low humming in the distance. Then it grew louder and closer. A lone plane's engines  droned in the night sky. It was coming their way, making Jean's heart thump wildly. Was this a friendly aircraft or an enemy? And then she knew the answer as a booming explosion sounded only a few streets away.

Only the day before, Trooper Evans had discussed with his coworkers what it must feel like to die. Now, lying on the cold ground, he prepared himself to face that reality. 

As the fire raced toward Elk Ridge, Mayor Ellis received an alarming phone call. The winds were picking up and disaster, for the town he loved, seemed imminent.    

Robert's heart raced as he wondered what chaos lay beyond his hotel door. He knew what the Mexican Cartel was capable of and he feared he'd never see his family again. 

From the ship's bridge, Lieutenant Guy watched the explosion in horror, his next move would be a matter of life and death.

As they stood on the edge of the cliff, a loud sound of branches breaking and rocks tumbling reverberated off the canyon walls. And then... silence. Was Matthew Weirich pulling a prank or had he really just fallen off this 230 foot cliff?
