Love the podcast. I hope if it does well they can get Joe Dante his own microphone.
Something very myopic about Joe Dante complaining about puppets when nearly every movie he's known for used puppets... ah but when he did it, it was art... Love Joe and Josh but they can be absurdly pretentious considering the discrepancy between what they'll consider art/entertainment versus the actual output they're responsible for.
I'm not seeing any new episodes since 9/27/2022 when Mick Garris was on, but on the TFH website it appears there new episodes with Ethan Hawke and Alex Winter. That an issue for anyone else? I'm wondering if the podcast just isn't adding new episodes on Castbox?
I know it's four years too late but this is a weird one. I get not being into superhero movies (and I think a lot of people are finally burning out on them) but it seems so weird to take the position that they can only be artistically worthless -especially from three people that have collectively made Piranha and Gremlins 1&2, Infested, and nearly everything Uwe Boll has made. I love Dante's movies, they're amazing and well crafted, but it seems a little weirdly pretentious to thumb their noses at what is essentially a genre at this point. Considering they have released movies just as easily considered as artistically empty. From Boll I get the feeling it's sour grapes, from Joe and Josh it seems like they have only a fleeting glimpse of those movies. It's just really weird. I wonder what will happen next.
I would love to spend a full weekend just binging movies with bill.
Hader mentioned that Wolf Guy movie, which I love no matter what anyone says! I think it's based on a manga that's been around for a while and redone a couple times. The manga is really good.
Great episode. I love Joe Bob and I love you guys too. Thank you
