We're back with another episode of The Musical Version. This time, we're making a musical out of the classic dad-dresses-up-as-female-nanny-to-be-a-better-dad film, Mrs. Doubtfire. Talking Points: child stars, drag queens, Robin Williams, and the importance of recording in a quiet place.
We're finally back! We return with an action-filled musical for Guardians of the Galaxy.  Topics of discussion: Chris Pratt's Instagram, space pirates, and jukebox musicals.
That's right! The Sisters Leslie saw #HamiltonChi. It was amazing, there was lots of crying, and we want to tell you all about it. Talking points: Exactly how old is Wayne Brady? Which character would you want to play? How would you turn Hamilton into a movie? Warning: We do talk about some moments onstage that you won't know about it if you've only listened to the soundtrack. If you're planning to see Hamilton and don't want a few of the visual highlights spoiled, you might want to skip this episode.
That's right, we went there. Fifty Shades of Gray as a musical—only the Leslie sisters would try to save this plotline with show tunes. This musical might not be destined for the stage, but we sure had fun discussing the possibilities. Talking points include: dating red flags, quick changes, songs that win Oscars, and how did people actually pay money to see this movie!
Get ready, producers: Adventures in Babysitting is your next musical hit. We're excited to turn this 80s classic into a smash hit about teenage girls, criminal shenanigans, and possibly predatory college boys.  Talking points include: romantic couples of the 80s, West Side Story parodies, Taye Diggs, and cars, cars, cars.  Show inspiration: West Side Story, Tangled, Michael Jackson
We're fighting for our right to live, to exist... and to sing. Aaron Patterson, Earth Ambassador from the For Aliens, by Aliens podcast, is our special guest. In his honor, we turn one of our favorite action-filled, alien-invasion movies into an over-the-top musical. Talking points: what's a proscenium, a woman president on stage, and how to introduce a million characters at the top of the show. Bonus: Aaron tries his hand at songwriting. Show Inspiration: Into the Woods, Little Shop of Horrors, West Side Story
Only two Leslie sisters this week, but we're turning one of our favorite movies about southern women into a blues-y, gospel-y, down-home musical about telling stories and finding your inner Tawanda. Talking points: the majesty of Kathy Bates and Jessica Tandy, movie characters who are horrible at their jobs (redhead nurse, we're looking at you), and the best way to end Act I (like West Side Story?)
It had to be you. To ring in a new year and celebrate 2017, we take the ultimate romantic comedy and turn it into a charming musical.  Talking points: No more scenes in cars, Nora Ephron, and the brilliance of Carrie Fisher. Plus, Kate reveals a crush on Santino Fontana, and Mary Pat still isn't sure the difference between Laura Benanti and Laura Osnes. Happy New Year from the Sisters Leslie.
Keep the change, ya filthy animal! We are turning one of the best Christmas movies into a musical, and it's bound to be a great one.  Talking points: Completely neglectful adults, the Stars Hollow musical, and the glory of Audra McDonald. Also, a very serious discussion about Lin-Manuel Miranda and James Corden, plus an extra fun intermission game. Merry Christmas from the Sisters Leslie!
Oh my god I am totally buggin'! Join us as we turn an insanely quotable 90s classic into a great musical. Clueless, the California Valley girl re-telling of Emma, is best known for great dialogue, teenagers in fancy clothes, and America's love affair with Paul Rudd.  Talking points: Paul Rudd (duh), Kate's one-woman show, and an argument over how many acts musicals should have.
A 1980s comedy classic, Coming to America tells the story of Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall traveling from Africa to America so they can meet a bunch of other people who look an awful lot like Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall. And also to fall in love. Talking points: NBC live musicals, too many twins, and Left-Eye...RIP.
Welcome to Con Air. Nicolas Cage with a mullet. John Cusack. John Malkovich. Convicts on a plane. What other elements could you possibly need for a classic action movie—and therefore, a classic Broadway musical? Talking points: unexpected Oscar nominations, amazing (cough, awful) Southern accents, well-written dialogue, and the very clear timeframe for diabetic shock.  Put the bunny back in the box and take a listen to this episode.
Our latest musical is based on the movie Dave, a wacky comedy about a presidential impersonator becoming the president! We also attempt to play a game at intermission that kind of falls apart. Oops.  Talking points: Kevin Kline is a national treasure, musicals that begin with the letter 'E', gender-bending in casting, The First Wives Club musical, and voting! Get out and vote on Tuesday, Nov. 8 if you haven't voted already.
Are you a Sally or a Gillian? In preparation for Halloween, we take one of our favorite witchy movies and turn it into a musical. Talking points: man-centric storylines, bad eye-color CGI, and burying bodies for your sisters. We are still learning. Please forgive Mary Pat's audio for the last ten minutes.
We're back with one of our favorite rom coms of all time—While You Were Sleeping. Talking points: how much we love Bill Pullman, how sad Lucy's life is, and the brilliantly written Callahan family scenes. Also, Genie makes Kate cry.
In our very first podcast episode, we put our heads together to create an amazing stage musical out of Jurassic Park. Talking points: the genius of Julie Taymor, the sexiness of Jeff Goldblum, and the best place to have a tap number. Please forgive some less-than-stellar audio quality; we're figuring this out!
