Description

They say that in the case of a mysterious death the first 48 hours are critical. If investigators don't get a lead in this time - the chances of solving the crime are greatly diminished.

But what if you don't get a lead in in the first 48 hours, or 48 days.

What if you don't get a lead in 48 years?

Welcome to the mysterious case of Fred the Head - One of the UK's most curious, baffling and unsolved crimes

Sunday, 16th July 1967 was destined to be the warmest day of the year in the South of England. But in the English Channel, there was a fog. 2025 has started with bang, as we undertake our biggest research campaign to identify potential victims. I also have an opportunity to discuss the lifestyle of the person that Fred might have been with a key expert.
It's about time I gave you an update on plans for Fred in 2025 - Well here goes....
I receive a detailed theory from the ex police colleague of the original investigating officer, Peter Hough - and it seems a good place to pause and reflect as we reach the 50th episode and map out the way forward.   Links:   The Mysterious Case of the Gentleman of Heligoland https://open.spotify.com/show/5ZdZyq4kWHyRDzdMQ3DZYZ?si=82fe5dce6630471c   New Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/groups/fredtheheadpodcast/   Website www.fredthehead.info   Podcast Email fredtheheadpodcast@gmail.com   Ken Davies ken.davies@gsemedialtd.com
We take a closer look into the discovery story and particularly the claim that Garth Hamp-Gopsill was at the Grammar School instructing shooting. We also meet a man who the police believed may have been connected to John Gick's disappearance and learn some things that might prove useful. It's time to revisit the original discovery story and go over it with a fine-toothed comb. A process that yields some interesting inconsistencies. I'm going to go full-on conspiracy theory here. What if this "unnamed man" was actually abused by John Gick, and maybe John 'shared' him with his friend. Then, the unnamed teenager decided I'm not taking this anymore. Stripped John to humiliate him, killed him, buried him, and then took his car to wherever it was found and took public transportation home?? I know, far-fetched, but maybe that is why he said nothing happened? It is possible and plausible.

I hate to say this, but to me, Hardy didn't have to kill the person for them to be buried. They could have died by natural causes, but he bullied them when they were alive. Just a different perspective.

I don't believe this guy as far as I can throw him. He's repeating everything that is publicly available. I don't know why, but how can he look at the face and the recollection comes back to him? He heard a story. He didn't know the guy who was murdered. He should have read the story, and the details made him remember.

I wish there was some sort of registry of insurance policies that were paid out. I bet you would find one on at least Ivy that was paid out to Alfred.

I feel like someone stole the mom's identity. It was very easy to do back then. There were almost no picture IDs. I feel like the woman may have known the mom and knew she was leaving and used that opportunity to steal key personal details. The man may have also stolen Jozeph's identity. They may still be closely related to this case as most law-abiding citizens don't change their ID. #TrueCrime #fredthehead #fredtheheadpod @fredtheheadpod

I know this is a little out there, but what is the missing person was transvestite? There were no clothes on the body and the wedding ring was a woman's. What if the report of the missing person would be for a woman because that is how people knew the person? Maybe the ring thing was a ruse so men didn't approach them? Just throwing a crazy theory out there. #fredthehead #truecrimepodcast #TrueCrime @fredtheheadpod
