Rachel Unraveled is a new comedy series from Rachel Ravel and Austin Spero. It stars Ravel as the titular Rachel, an aspiring actress who's sort of convinced she lives in a musical and who's grasp is constantly outside her reach. Read the full review. Twitter: The Nerd Dash // Billy Donahoe
Ellen Page is Tallulah, a nomad living out of her van who kidnaps a baby from a neglectful rich mother named Carolyn, played by Tammy Blanchard. Carolyn’s a drunk; she doesn’t change the baby’s diapers and lets it roam around on the balcony of her high-rise apartment with abandon. After running off with the toddler while Carolyn sleeps off a drunken night, Tallulah connects with her old boyfriend’s mother, played by Allison Janney, who lets her and the baby stay, having convinced her it’s her own granddaughter.
That's right. I've never seen Alien, until now. Join Erik and I as we discuss the classic 1979 science fiction film from both a newbie perspective and that of a big-time fan. I get scolded a little for having let such a thing like this slip. It's my own fault. Call it lesson one in my education. And I call myself a film critic... Homer Hickam grew up in the small mining town of Coalwood, West Virginia. By building amateur rockets with his friends he was able to get out and eventually become a top engineer for NASA. In 1998 he published a memoir about his time in high school which became the basis for the film October Sky. Now, Hickam is suing Universal for producing a stage version of the film he claims isn't theirs to make. Follow on Twitter @BillyDonahoe
Throughout the 1800’s and into early 1900’s, streetcar companies needed a way to keep people riding the rails into the weekend. So many began opening parks at the ends of their streetcar lines to bring in revenue on the days when people weren’t commuting. These "trolley parks" were a way to escape the bustle of city life. I noticed that a bunch of the new James Bond films have theme songs that call back to the original Jame Bond theme. Similar motifs, similar chord progressions; it's deliberate and serves to enrich the music of the film series. Today on The Nerd Dash Podcast, I delve into three songs from three movies, Daniel Craig's Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, and Skyfall, to draw similarities between their music. Thanks in large part to the internet and subscription services like Netflix, the way we watch TV's change drastically. We watch a show all at once. We binge. We're careful not to spoil. Not only that, but the content's changed as well. Seasons are shorter, heavily serialized. The "showrunner" has become a frequent function. Shows are purchased as complete packages (sometimes with multiple seasons) outside of the former "pilot" model. There's more experimentation. The "good drama" has shifted to the small screen. It's the Golden Age of Television. So listen to it on the radio! Twitter @BillyDonahoe

Ghostbusters is being remade and the buzz has been overwhelmingly negative. Many fans have voiced concerns that this new movie is an affront to the originals and may tarnish the reputation of a beloved franchise, a black spot on their fandom. We take the view that a film doesn't owe us anything just because we like it; fandom does not equal ownership. Listen now! Follow me on Twitter @BillyDonahoe Subscribe to us on iTunes

Created by Joss Whedon, Firefly follows the adventures of a ragtag crew living on the edge of space, taking jobs and living one step ahead of the law. It aired on Fox in 2002 and after an abrupt cancellation, became a cult favorite. Fans wrote letters, took out ads in magazines, and bought enough DVD's to convince studios to finish the story with a proper film, 2005's Serenity.
This is a special Extras episode of the Nerd Dash Podcast. After two trailers, Marvel is gearing up for its latest release, Captain America: Civil War. We give our take.
