It's everybody's favorite time of year — the New Flesh Turkey Slaughter, in which hosts Brett Arnold and Jesse Hassenger recap the biggest turkeys of the year, aka the movies they were most excited for that disappointed them the most.
Will they agree, or argue? Will any turkeys be pardoned? Can you guess what will make their lists?!
Before that, horror news of the week and new steaming dates for recent releases.
Here is last week's bonus episode that includes a catch-up lightning round of new release horror movies (including MadS and other recent Shudder releases) as well as early looks at GLADIATOR II, NIGHTBITCH, and Jesse previews NOSFERATU.
The New Flesh returns after an impromptu hiatus to cover 3 weeks of horror news and the new A24 movie HERETIC, starring Hugh Grant. RIP Tony Todd.
The Crow franchise deep-dive caw-caws its last caw-caw as we wrap up the series with the absolutely terrible fourth entry, WICKED PRAYER. This is the second straight-to-video sequel.
Andrew Overbye of the Authorized Novelizations podcast returns to The New Flesh podcast (for his first ever appearance), and frankly, this episode acts great as a crossover, as we discuss the differences between the novelization and the movie at great length!
Shout out to all our fans on Patreon that I jokingly disparage up top, I love you all dearly and the show would be dead without you!
As per usual, I was too lazy to edit anything out of this. Sorry.
Brett and Jesse predicted the ending of SMILE 2 on the air a long time ago, on an episode with A.A. Dowd — does that mean they didn't like the movie?
Edit: All Spotify issues appear resolved!
It's Terrifier 3 week on the New Flesh podcast, and considering the historic box office take this weekend, we had to enlist the best of the best box office analysts to help us discuss it: Pat Stango of the B.O. Boys podcast!
Brett will be guesting on the B.O. Boys live show in NYC on Tuesday 10/22 at Parkside Lounge.
Tickets available here: https://www.parksidelounge.nyc/calendar/the-bo-boys-in-box-office-save-america
Check out the Patreon for new bonus episodes coming soon as well as early releases, like the one for THE CROW: WICKED PRAYER aka THE CROW 4 that will be up soon or is up now depending on when you're reading this!
It's a new-release double feature on this week's New Flesh podcast with Brett Arnold and Jesse Hassenger.
Joker 2, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, out this weekend, and Azrael starring Samara Weaving, out last weekend.
Before that, plenty of horror news, summarized below.
Here is a list of recent horror titles that we haven't yet covered, but Brett has reviewed on Roger & Me: It Lives Inside, Salem's Lot, Apartment 7A, Frankie Freako, Hold Your Breath, House of Spoils, VHS Beyond, Little Bites, Things Will Be Different, Sleep
Upcoming: Daddy's Home, Terrifier 3
News: Scream 7 release date, Chucky canceled, and more
The 56-years-late ROSEMARY'S BABY sequel APARTMENT 7A is streaming now on Paramount Plus, but it simply wasn't good enough to justify making it the main-feed episode this week, so we're dropping the much-anticipated episode on THE CROW: SALVATION aka THE CROW 3 instead.
Or did Jesse just not watch it yet, and we'll cover it later? Maybe! Regardless, it's his birthday today, so wish him a happy one!
Enjoy returning guest Bill Bria on THE CROW: SALVATION, which I had a lot of fun with and I hope you all find some merit in it as well!
It's yet another new-release double feature on the New Flesh podcast, sorry to the Crow-heads who are desperately awaiting the CROW 3 episode. It's on Patreon now but still waiting for a lull for main feed.
This week, Brett & Jesse take THE SUBSTANCE and NEVER LET GO of it! Two new movies out in theaters now; one of them is among the very best of the year. Take a guess which.
Some horror news, of course, but I'm too lazy to list it today.
On this week's incredibly on-time New Flesh podcast, Brett & Jesse speak some evil about the now-in-theaters (very) Americanized U.S. remake of SPEAK NO EVIL, the 2022 original is now on Shudder and made Brett's best horror movies of the year list that year.
Before the main event, some horror news! Summarized at bottom.

The second New Flesh episode of the week is here, as promised - a new-release double feature of Zoe Kravitz's debut film BLINK TWICE starring Channing Tatum and Naomi Ackie and STRANGE DARLING from writer/director J.T. Mollner and starring Kyle Gallner and Willa Fitzgerald.

Salem was great
Just throwing this out there since we're finding social commentary where none exists: On what basis would we make the assertion that the old-money family is conservative? I do, however, appreciate the discussion of film makers changing endings and approaches of certain movies based on the past election. I will not be attending any films made by those people going forward. I try to limit my movie-going experience to films made by adults - not petulant children who don't recognize that it is they who have created the problems about which they complain. If they're that myopic, why would I care to subject myself to their vision?
