In today's episode we'll share listeners' experience and questions about prayer as well as what may be important to remember as we engage with God and each other. On a podcast about decision making, I'm always looking for ways to drop us into the middle of the process because I believe there is helpful nuance and insight there. So today I'm hosting a conversation about those things in our lives where we've maybe started something but we're not sure if they're worth finishing. You'll hear from listeners who were willing to answer the question, "what's something I'm trying that I'm still not sure about?" Let's see what insight we can take away while listening to other people. Listen in. My guest today is someone who is well acquainted with the decision fatigue that comes along with navigating questions about your faith. I’m so glad to welcome Erin Hicks Moon to talk about the questions we have but are hesitant to bring into the light, about what to say to people who question our faithfulness when we question our faith, and how to move beyond the deconstruction conversation into our next right thing with God, others and ourselves. Erin is the perfect person to have this conversation with as she’s been talking about and writing about this for many years. She also has a brand new book to help you if you’re wrestling thorough your own disentangling moment, I’ve Got Questions: The Spiritual Practice of Having it out With God.  How can you hold onto your faith when you feel lost? How can you respond when people dont’ understand what you’re going through? What are some of the things no one talks about when they talk about deconstruction? We’ve got all of that and more with Erin Hicks Moon. Listen in. Today I'm sharing a story of a time a few months back where I was asked a question and I didn't have a great answer. I'm still not sure my answer is great today, but it's done good work for me and in me to reflect on the recent election, our walk of faith and the heartbeat of Christian hope. Listen in. Today's episode is a little bit different. We're going to engage in a grounding practice for an anxious time. You may likely recognize this as the 5-4-3-2-1 method. Even if it's familiar, I invite you to keep pace with me and follow along. You can do this while driving, walking, in a crowded space, alone in your office or room, or even while you're laying down to sleep at night. All you need is to stay present with me and with yourself. As we approach Election Day in the United States, I wanted to provide a simple liturgy as a resource for us as we make important decisions about our elected officials at the local, state and national levels. This is a liturgy you can use as you prepare to walk into the voting booth, either physically or if you're voting by mail metaphorically. Hopefully it will be a grounding exercise for you between now and next week, perhaps one you can listen to on your way to the voting booth or anytime before. Listen in. Fall schedules are in full swing, but beneath the surface of all your activity, perhaps you're concerned about how the choices you're making now will impact your life in the future. And not only your life, but also the lives of those whom you care about. When we meet at the crossroads of core values or belief systems, do we engage or retreat? When we have lost something or someone and we become acutely aware of the risk of trying again, how can we move forward? When we have that moment of clarity and realize that this conversation, this relationship, the situation, is never going to change or that it's changed beyond recognition, what is our next right thing? This week, we're exploring the simple practice of loving anyway. I'm so glad to have your friend and mine, the laziest genius there is, New York Times bestselling author, Kendra Adachi. She's been teaching us to be a genius about the things that matter to us and lazy about the things that don't, for nearly a decade, she taught us the 13 Lazy Genius principles in her first book, The Lazy Genius Way, and How to Be a Lazy Genius in the Kitchen, in her second book, The Lazy Genius Kitchen. Now she's back with her third book, The Plan: Manage Your Time Like a Lazy Genius. Today we're going to get into both the mindset and the strategy of how to plan a day. Thank you so much, Emily! This episode certainly resonates with me. I also process through feelings and thinking first, then finally take action. I have saved it, to listen to, whenever I am feeling frustrated about everyone around me beating me to make decisions and feeling embarrassed or how slow I am to process information.

Thank you, Emily, for the suggestion and permission to unsubscribe to podcasts that aren't "where I am" right now. They are great programs, I just don't have time to listen. So I deleted and unsubscribed to many, and now I can see what I really want to listen to. My soul feels lighter as I'm "ignoring with intention."

10:25-11:45 - Thank you, Emily, for articulating this so clearly and succinctly! My husband and I are watching NT Wright's new video corresponding to his new book - The New Testament in its World. He proposed that Jesus knew His VOCATION but didn't know He was God until after He died. This possibility has taken Jesus off the flannel graph board for me and has begun bringing me out of a 4-year spiritually-parched season. Thank you for giving this Enneagram 6 "permission" to continue pondering Jesus' earthly experience as Fully God AND Fully Man. A beautiful mystery! ♡
