Description

Hey there — I’m Steve Campbell. I’m a husband, dad to four amazing kids, follower of Jesus, and someone who wakes up every day wanting to help people live with more clarity, courage, and purpose.

Life has taught me that faith isn’t just something you talk about — it’s something you live, wrestle with, and anchor everything to. My relationship with Jesus shapes how I love my family, how I lead, how I speak, and how I show up for others. Every podcast, conversation, and connection I make starts there — from a place of grace, humility, and hope.

My Heart Behind The One Big Thing

I started The One Big Thing podcast because I believe each of us is created on purpose and for a purpose. We all carry something unique that can make a difference — not someday, but right now. Through the stories, lessons, and conversations on the podcast, my prayer is that you’ll discover the spark God placed in you and feel encouraged to take your next faithful step.

I don’t have all the answers — but I’ve learned that when you stay close to Jesus, stay curious, and keep moving forward, amazing things can unfold.

In this episode of The One Big Thing, I sit down with Neil Broere — pastor, writer, Bible teacher, and former missionary to Iraq — for one of the most profound conversations we’ve had on this show.Neil shares what Jesus has been teaching him in this season: union with Christ. We talk about what it really means to be in Him — not just saved by Him, not just working for Him, but living from a place of oneness where everything else flows downstream. This conversation moves deep into obedience, suffering, faith, and what it looks like to trust God even when prayers feel unanswered.Neil opens up about life on the mission field, raising a family in difficult environments, and how suffering becomes a gateway to intimacy with God rather than a sign of His absence. We wrestle honestly with hard questions: What happens when God doesn’t move the way we expect? How do we hold faith when the miracle doesn’t come? And how does suffering actually shape us into people who can carry the weight of God’s glory? If you’re in a season of uncertainty, pain, transition, or deep questioning — this episode is for you. It’s a reminder that God is still good, Jesus is still present, and your suffering is never wasted.Listen in and be encouraged — even if He doesn’t, He is still faithful. And He is still with you._________________________________Neil Broere is a teaching pastor at Radiant Central Coast in California, an author, and the Global Director of Becoming Love Ministries, where he helps pioneer gospel-centered initiatives around the world. Before relocating to California in 2022, Neil and his wife, Lindsey, served as missionaries in Iraq for six years alongside their four children. That season deeply shaped their faith and reinforced their conviction that Jesus is exactly who He says He is — and that a life of obedience can radically transform individuals and families.Neil is the author of Obedience, Suffering, & Reward, which reached #1 on Amazon’s Ecclesiology list and continues to rank among the top titles in the category. His upcoming book, LIMINAL: The Delicate Space Between Breaths, is scheduled for release in Spring 2026.Through his weekly devotional Between Sundays, Neil shares reflections drawn from Scripture and life experience, focusing on themes such as identity in Christ, the power of the gospel, God’s design for the church, the kingdom of God, suffering and wilderness seasons, and the beauty of communion._________________________________Join my YouTube Community of over 42k subscribers where you can watch all my episodes at https://www.youtube.com/@stevecampbellprThanks to one of my show sponsors! 💪🏼 Are you looking to get in the best shape of your life? In this episode of The One Big Thing, I sit down with my friend Andy Mason, founder of Heaven in Business, to talk about what it really means to walk with God — not just at church, but in every part of life.Andy shares his incredible story of hearing God’s call to leave everything behind in New Zealand and start over in the United States. We talk about how to trust God when the next step isn’t clear, how to slow down enough to actually hear His voice, and what it means to live with a mandate that’s bigger than yourself. This conversation reminded me that God moves at the pace of relationship — slow enough for us to walk beside Him. Whether you’re waiting on direction, wrestling with purpose, or learning how to yield control, this episode will encourage you to trust God’s timing and believe that He’s still leading you.Listen in and be reminded: you’re not behind — you’re right where God needs you to be.__________________________________________Andy Mason comes from New Zealand and has 15+ years of experience helping individuals and organizations discover and align with purpose, then develop practical steps to make dreams a reality. He has worked for a national consultancy firm and a leading financial institution and has invested in international community development.Andy is the founder and director of Heaven in Business, showing people how to integrate faith that multiplies business success. This episode marks a brand-new chapter for The One Big Thing. From here on out, every conversation will center on faith — on what Jesus is teaching us in this season of life.I couldn’t think of a better person to start this new direction with than my friend Jake Kauffman.Jake and I go deep on something that every believer eventually faces: the role of suffering and dependence in our walk with Jesus. We talk about what it means to trust God when life unravels, why true transformation often comes through pain, and how the wilderness seasons of life can actually draw us closer to Him.You’ll hear Jake share his story of loss, healing, and renewal — and how God met him in the middle of it. We explore what spiritual maturity really looks like, the beauty of surrender, and why God’s favor often shows up in ways we don’t expect. If you’re walking through a hard season or wondering where God is in the middle of your struggle, I want you to know — you’re not alone. God’s not done with you. Your story is still being written.Listen in and be encouraged — Jesus is at work in your life too.__________________________________________Join my YouTube Community of over 37k subscribers where you can watch all my episodes at https://www.youtube.com/@stevecampbellprThanks to one of my show sponsors! 💪🏼 Are you looking to get in the best shape of your life? This week on The One Big Thing Podcast, I sit down with my friend Eric Chiofalo — a husband, dad to three little girls, and sports radio host at 105.3 The Fan in Dallas. If you’ve followed my journey, you know how much the Dallas Cowboys have always meant to me because of my dad. So having Eric on — someone I’ve admired from a distance — was really special. But this conversation went far deeper than sports.Eric opened up about what’s been a heavy season for him following the shocking assassination of Charlie Kirk — someone he admired as a man of faith, a husband, and a father. We talked about the raw emotions of grief, the anger that’s bubbled up watching people celebrate tragedy, and what it looks like to keep our hearts aligned with God in the middle of heartbreak. We dove into:Wrestling with anger and choosing grace insteadHow studying the Bible has reshaped Eric’s perspective on forgivenessBuilding a daily rhythm of prayer, scripture, and honest conversations with GodBalancing public influence with private integrity — especially when the mic goes offLearning to die to self as a husband and father, and bouncing back when we fall shortThis wasn’t just a conversation about faith — it was about being human. About being men who are trying to raise families, steward our platforms well, and not lose sight of who we are in the process.Eric’s honesty and humility reminded me that even in the public eye, we’re all just people trying to do our best, mess up less, and love well. My prayer is that this episode encourages you to keep going, to stay rooted, and to trust that God can use even the darkest moments to awaken something powerful in us.If this episode stirs something in you, share it with a friend who might need it. In this episode of The One Big Thing, I had the privilege of sitting down with former MLB pitcher and current high school coach Justin Masterson. Justin shared how his definition of maturity has evolved into the ability to handle emotions well, especially in the face of hardship. Whether he's coaching teenagers, navigating marriage, or serving in his community, he’s learned that staying relational and grounded is key.In this episode, we dive into:The emotional weight athletes carry behind the scenesHow to lead with empathy and humility in high-pressure environmentsPractical tools like the “CAKE” acronym and quieting techniques to regulate emotionsWhy identity and belonging are essential for real transformationHonest stories of failure, forgiveness, and fatherhoodI even share a personal story about a moment I blew it as a dad—and what it taught me about grace, humility, and the power of saying “I’m sorry.”If you’re someone who wants to grow in emotional intelligence, lead with more compassion, or just be a better version of yourself, this episode is for you. We’re not aiming for perfection—just progress._________________________________About Justin MastersonJustin Masterson is a former Major League Baseball pitcher who spent eight seasons in the big leagues with the Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Guardians (formerly Indians), and St. Louis Cardinals. On this episode of The One Big Thing, I had the honor of sitting down with General Stanley McChrystal. You may know him as one of the most respected military leaders of our time, but in our conversation, we focused less on medals and missions and more on the thing that truly defines a life: character. We talked about what it means to be a father, a grandfather, and a human being trying to live out your values in a complicated world. Stan shares how character isn't something we inherit—it's something we choose. And we don't just choose it once—we choose it daily, especially in the hard moments when no one else is watching. We also got into:Why your example matters more than your achievementsHow to hold fast to who you are—even when the world feels loud, divided, and chaoticWhat Stan learned from leading soldiers in war and grandkids in peacetimeHow his book On Character: Choices That Define a Life came to be (and why it might help you rethink your own convictions)Whether you're a parent, a leader, or someone simply trying to do the next right thing, I think this episode will meet you right where you are. This conversation reminded me that we all have a say in the kind of person we become—and that it’s never too late to start making better choices.🧠 Your one big thing today? Character isn’t what you say—it’s who you are when no one’s looking. And you own that.________________________________________About Stanley McChrystalCo-Founder of McChrystal Group Former Commander of U.S. and International Forces in Afghanistan Former Leader of Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) Author of My Share of the Task: A Memoir, Team of Teams: New Rules of Engagement for a Complex World, Leaders: Myth and Reality, Risk: A User’s Guide, and Character: Choices that Define a Life. Today, we’re diving deep with Pastor Jeremy Graham of True Purpose Ministries to unpack one of the most misunderstood issues of our time: addiction. Jeremy shares his powerful journey from addiction to transformation, showing how healing goes far beyond behavior change—it starts from within. We explore how unresolved trauma often fuels addiction, and why understanding that connection can be a game-changer. Addiction doesn't discriminate—it touches people of every background, whether it's drugs, alcohol, work, social media, food, or relationships. Even if you haven’t personally struggled with addiction, this episode sheds light on the universal ways we cope with pain.Jeremy also speaks candidly about the traumatic experiences that shaped him, reminding survivors of molestation, rape, or other abuse that they are not alone—and that healing is possible. This is more than a conversation about addiction; it’s a message of hope, empathy, and the power of transformation.Key Takeaways:Addiction isn't picky; it can affect anyone, regardless of background or appearance. Trauma often leads to addiction, and recognizing this link is crucial for healing. Many people mistakenly assume addiction only affects those with visible signs or a 'typical' profile. The first step towards overcoming addiction is realizing that your life has become unmanageable. Community and support are vital; sharing your struggles can help break the cycle of addiction. _______________________________________Listen to the One Big Thing on your favorite platform at https://pod.link/1689287620You can watch all episodes on my YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@stevecampbellpr⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I'd also love for you to subscribe to this podcast and leave a rating and review.
