The Box Out returns with the show’s second season debut on Blog Talk Radio. The show has been hiatus but returns as a weekly show throughout the basketball season.
The NBA season is in full swing as locally, the Knicks and the Nets are having different starts to their seasons. The Nets defeated LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night to move into first place in the Atlantic Division. Much talk was about how bad the Nets would be this year, but as Kahlil and Jason repeatedly mentioned over the last few months, Brooklyn may surprise some people. The guys discuss whether the Nets can keep up their hard-nosed play.
The Knicks, on the other hand, has started winless and the infighting has begun as Courtney Lee said after their loss to the Celtics that players do not know the plays on the floor. We are now on “Jeff Hornacek Watch” as the hot seat for the coach is getting warmer by the day. Kahlil and Jason discuss whether any good has come from the start of the Knicks season.
All that and a roundup of the first week of the NBA season on the season debut of The Box Out.
The Box Out returns with Kahil and Jason as the NBA season is in full swing.
The Knicks won three games in a row over the last week as all eyes have been on Kristaps Porzingis and his scoring prowess. Behind a rejuvenated offense and defensive effort, the Knicks are becoming a pesky team to play every night. Do we see a renaissance in The Garden?
The Nets, after a hot start, has fallen back to earth after a tough week. The defensive struggle is real for Brooklyn as they continue to allow teams to score in bunches. Kahlil and Jason are staying with their predictions of the Nets making the playoffs and right now their predictions are sketchy. Are the Nets a playoff team?
The guys will discuss that and more, including Cleveland’s struggles and whether the Clippers are a better team without Chris Paul. All this on this week’s edition of The Box Out.
The Box Out IS BACK!!! Your favorite basketball talk show returns in 2018 as Kahlil and Jason bring their hot takes back to the Double G Sports Network and wouldn’t you know it, a hot topic emerged on Thursday.
Kristaps Porzingis said on Wednesday night that he was tired after his 5-for-13 shooting night against the Wizards. This was taken with some ridicule as many believe that the pressure is starting to get the power forward. Kahlil and Jason will discuss whether Porzingis needs more help and whether the season is starting down to go down the tubes for New York.
The Nets continue to play well winning their last three out of four games as they stay in the conversation for a playoff berth. Are the Nets a playoff team? Is their roster good enough to compete with the top teams in the Eastern Conference?
College basketball season is in full swing as conference play as started for all teams. The three local teams are well over .500 as Seton Hall continues to be one of the best teams in the Big East. St. John’s is beginning to show flashes while Rutgers still look incapable of playing in the Big Ten. Kahlil and Jason will look the college basketball landscape, including the national landscape where there have been multiple number one teams this season.
All that and more on the return of The Box Out.
The Box Out is back for another week, and as usual, there is a lot to discuss.
The Knicks lost their third game in a row after an overtime loss to the Bulls at MSG on Wednesday. It seems as if the team has hit a wall as Kristaps Porzingis is shooting poorly and Frank Ntilikina just seems lost after a promising start. Kahlil and Jason will look the team and discuss what they need and whether the season is officially a lost cause.
The Nets were just chugging along until getting blown out by the Pistons at home on Wednesday. The team received good news as D’Angelo Russell is getting closer to returning to a team that needs more scoring at a time when they are struggling. Are the Nets still a playoff contender at the halfway mark?
Last year’s NBA Finals participants are at a significant crossroads at this point of the season. The Cleveland Cavaliers are struggling accumulated a 2-2 record so far in 2018. For the Golden State Warriors, Stephen Curry hurt the same right ankle that caused him to miss numerous earlier this season. With everything going on with both teams, are they still the favorites to make the NBA Finals once again?
All that along with NBA and college basketball news, on the latest episode of The Box Out.
The Box Out returns as another week of basketball has come and gone.
The Knicks seem to be starting their downward spiral as they have lost four of their last five games. At 20-25, they are just three games behind Detroit for the final playoff spot in the East, but it looks like the season is beginning to catch up with them. Kahlil and Jason will look at the Knicks and whether their season is over. Also, Jason has yet another hot take about the Knicks and their future.

Thursday also saw the announcement of the NBA All-Star starters as LeBron James and Stephen Curry are the captains. With the new format of the captains picking their teams, who do Kahlil and Jason believe James and Curry will choose?

With just a month left in the season, what are the Knicks looking for in the players playing on the roster? What is the plan going forward for New York as they jockey for position for lottery position?
As for the Nets, their season officially fell off the rails in February as they now have the third worst record in the NBA. While Brooklyn has become a tough team to face every night, the flaws on the team’s roster finally hit the fan. What is the future for the Nets as Cleveland holds their first-round draft pick?
With just a few weeks remaining in the season, the NBA playoff race is heating up as teams in both conference are making their moves to make the postseason. Kahlil and Jason will discuss they believe will make the playoffs and who have no chance.
That and so much more, including the latest in the FBI/NCAA investigation and the future of Rutgers, on the return of The Box Out.
The Box Out returns as the NBA season winds down and the playoff picture is becoming more evident.
Not only is the playoff picture clearing up but the race for the worst record in the NBA is becoming clear as well. The Knicks, whom many believed was done winning games weeks ago, are beginning to show signs of life...which is messing up their chances of getting a high pick in June’s NBA Draft. The guys discuss whether the Knicks need to embrace tanking and just let the season go down the drain or continue playing hard.
The first week of the NCAA Tournament is in the books as brackets around the country and the world is destroyed. Schools like Loyola-Chicago and UMBC have been cursed as many favorites are no longer in play. The Box Out returns after a busy week in the world of basketball.
The Knicks lost in overtime to the Hornets on Monday, but there was a bigger story in that game. Trey Burke scored 42 points and dished out 12 assists in the defeat. His play is raising a major question going forward for the Knicks. Is Trey Burke the answer for the team at point guard next season? If so, what do you do with Frank Ntilikina? The questions are starting to fly regarding the Knicks’ future and Kahlil and Jason will discuss.
In college basketball, we have our Final Four set as Kansas, Villanova, Michigan and Cinderella Loyola-Chicago are making the trip to San Antonio. Kansas and Villanova were expected to be here but Michigan has ridden a wave of great play late in the season. The guys will pick their championship team ahead of one of the most exciting Final Fours in recent memory.
That and more, including an update on the NBA Playoff Race and other basketball news, on the latest episode of The Box Out.

Before the playoffs, the Knicks pulled the trigger and fired head coach Jeff Hornacek early Thursday morning. He was never a good fit in New York, and the search now begins for the next coach of the Knicks. Some of the names that have been mentioned are David Fizdale, Jeff Van Gundy, David Blatt….and Mike Woodson? We have hit the Conference Finals in the NBA Playoffs as The Box Out continues the drive to Jason’s predicted NBA Finals matchup of the Cavaliers and the Warriors.
Boston will face Cleveland in the Eastern Finals in a rematch of the 2017 East Finals. Boston, who is missing Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward, have advanced when many assumed the talent on the team would not get them past the first round. They have played their best, thanks to probably the best coach in the league in Brad Stevens. They take on a Cleveland team that after many trades and moves seems to be clicking on all cylinders.
