The Outcast: Outlaw Pro's Podcast

Episode 2 of our fantastic 2024 season features non other than ex-Olympian and life-long multi-species angler, Dean Macey. Essex boy Dean chats with Rob all things athletics, his triumphs and failures all at the very top of his multi-discipline event, the decathlon. From the early days of youth competition all the way to winning gold at the Commonwealth Games and his medals at both World Championship as well as his Olympic campaigns. Of course, the talk then turns to fishing where "The Dean Machine" really gets into his stride. We hear about Dean's early days fishing the Blackwater in Witham, Essex and then all over the world, both on personal missions and whilst making TV shows and commentating for the BBC. To kick off Season 3 of The Outcast we introduce the newest member of the Outlaw Pro family, none other than top carp angler and all round good guy, Dan Hawkes! Dan tells us all about his new role at the company as well as some stories from his personal life. Dan was also nominated for Carp Angler Of The Year for 2023 and not without good reason. A bumper year full of carp both on UK and foreign banks, Dan's fishing year has been one to remember. Join Rob for November's podcast, this time with something a little different! It's predator season so Rob is joined by predator specialist Julian Chidgey to talk all things predator. Julian tells all about winning the Drennan Cup as well as a fascinating tale about a special lure, which he then gifts to us to proudly display in our studio. He also offers plenty of very useful tips and tricks to help everyone up their catch rate in predator season. He also offers an insight into pre-baiting for pike and how effective it can be. He speaks about where he is currently fishing and what his goals and targets are for the coming season.

Season 2, Episode 9 features the one and only Steve Spurgeon! Not only does Steve work as accounts manager at Fox International, he has worked in the ever changing fishing industry for many years before that. Also an avid former carp match angler, Steve has been perfecting the noble art of carp fishing for many years. His home fishing has been on Layer Pits in Essex. As one half of the "Dangerous Brothers" with his long-time friend Chris Rose, Essex boy Steve sits down with his old mate and our presenter, Rob Hughes, and discusses not only his personal fishing and the challenges of his role at Fox, but also his previous roles at other tackle companies. This month's guest needs no introduction, a true legend in the sport of carp fishing, Derek "The Don" Ritchie!
