Her Platform:  Mental health awareness Crystal is passionate about her platform because.... I have a Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling and also personally carry a diagnosis of PTSD. My children have ADHD and Autism. It has been my life's work to break stigma around mental illness and educate people on how many aspects of life are effected by mental health. I plan on using media to spread awareness and education on this topic as well as continue my relationships with the National Alliance for Mental Illness and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to help with this as well. Today's guest is 1st Runner up for Elite Nationals, Ansley Lyons.    Her platform is Ansley’s Grateful Giving or A.G.G. Ansley’s Grateful Giving is an organization that finds ways to give back to the community. I have a passion to serve others. Through my personal platform, I have been able to service my community in many different ways with over 700 hours of service. One of my service projects is raising funds for the Susan G Komen Organization. Through my work with SGK, I have raised over $15,000 for breast cancer research. I spent many hours writing letters asking for donations, contacting sponsors, setting up garage sales, writing thank you notes, and educating donors about the early warning signs of Breast Cancer. This has helped me learn the most effective way to ask others for donations and the process that works the best is to get repeat donors. Not only have I learned how to raise money, but I have also learned how to work on teams of volunteers from across the country. I have served on the Youth Core during three different Susan G. In 2016 I was given a vision to start a non profit organization called From Princesses to Queens ( Ps&Qs). This program was designed with the mission of inspiring young women and girls to be self-sufficient, intelligent leaders by providing supportive mentor-ships from adolescence to adulthood. Ps&Qs was founded on the concept that all girls are Queens in training and it’s the responsibility of passionate, committed, and driven women to help guide our girls of today to their royal thrones. Our guest this week is Jessica Swearingen, her platform is Turner Syndrome Awareness. Turner Syndrome is a chromosomal disorder in which a female is born with only one X chromosome. Turner syndrome is a results from a missing or incomplete chromosome. 1 out of 2000 females are born with Turner Syndrome and may not even know. Our guest today is Amber Neff, here's Amber describing her platform.... My platform is that of building confidence through pageantry and sisterhood. Since competing in Miss Curvy Nevada 4 years ago, I have met women who have built my confidence and have supported my dreams and become sisters to me, and I have supported them as well. In turn, I continue that by encouraging people to support each other through pageantry. Pageants may be a competition, but by teaching our contestants that rather than stepping on someone on your way up, you lift each other up. I genuinely believe that people who hear women do and say kind things and be of service to others they will grow to be the type of person who does not think twice to do the same. What are you doing to promote your Platform? The way I promote my platform is by being the Executive Director of the Silver State Pageant system in Nevada. Silver State Pageants is family and community-oriented system. As the director of a pageant system, I take a very personal approach to directing, it is not a revolving door of unknown contestants competing. I get to know my contestants and their families, and from the moment they enter they become part of my family and they know that everyone before and after will also be their family. Unfortunately, I have seen that so many people have not had much positive reinforcement or supportive people in their life. With the support of other women, I have been able to build a place for that to happen for them. In the last four years I have been able to speak publicly about my platform, at events and on the radio by promoting my pageant and its purpose and mission. Though I still get negative comments about pageantry, I feel I am able to express how valuable it is to those who participate. Like sports, pageantry teaches participants values such as positive competition, compassion for others, skill building and at times team work. By explaining that aspect and the family oriented and community oriented nature of pageantry, I feel I am getting through to a lot of people. Our guest today is Audrey Walleser Martin.  Many people are not use to seeing a pageant queen and a firefighter as the same person. The amazing part about being a title holder is the crown is a key to unlock opportunities that would not be available otherwise. In the course of my daily duties I do a lot of public education and awareness. I spend my day working with local, community, county, state and national individuals on safety strategy and policy. When able to put on a crown you are able to educate and bring awareness on a different level. Through parades, PSA's, appearances and non profit work and relationships, I can spread the messages to different audiences. Emergency preparedness is something that effects everyone. Communities and individuals facing disaster, despair, and accidents are comforted, treated and reassured these highly trained individuals. These responders want nothing more than to protect and serve their communities. Darcy Castro is our guest today, she is the Winner of the Elite State Pageant for Georgia and 2nd runner up for Elite National.  My advocacy platform is intensely personal. It is drawn from my own experience as a child whose family was inflicted and interrupted with my father's brain tumor diagnosis. I know from personal experience, and from reaching out to survey families in the same situation, that the needs of children of parents with a brain tumor have largely gone unrecognized. Thankfully, much effort and resources are pledged to research and patient services, but I am working to ensure the emotional needs of kids in these families are being met. As a Pageant Platform Elite national titleholder, I will use that solid foundation to speak my truth for these children. The families that need my special kind of advocacy are small in numbers, but the need is extremely great. Caitlin is currently representing as Miss South Staffordshire in the Miss International UK Grand Finals to take place in August 2020. The winner of Miss international UK will win a trip to Japan to compete in Miss International and represent the UK.  Her platform is Time To Change, in which she works as a champion within her local community to encourage others to open up about mental health and break down the stigma surrounding it. Currently, 1 in 4 people will suffer with a mental health problem in the next year. Aiden Murphy is the current Miss Regency International California Ambassador 2020. She is a Graduate student at Pepperdine University, and studying at Harvard University for her Graduate Certification in Organizational Behavior. She's a competitive Irish Dancer, Advanced Scuba Diver, runway and print model and want to work for NASA when I complete my studies.  Her platform is You Can Read! Ruby Tilghman is Ms. Winter Park's Outstanding Teen as part of the Outstanding Teen program and 4th Runner Up for Ms. Florida's Outstanding Teen for 2019, as well as musician, advocate, and mentor. Ruby is the founder of Many Mini Musicians, which is a non-profit organization that funds fine arts programs throughout public schools and provides students with opportunities to experience the arts. In the last three years, Ruby has been able to raise over $12,000 for music programs in public schools by hosting fundraising concerts. Nichelle Miller is Mrs. Indianapolis 2020, American Beauties Plus. She's been on multiple sides of the pageant circuit: as a judge, contestant, Title Holder of multiple titles, and as a Director. This has led her to see the beauty in pageantry as well as some of what we’ve seen on those “Pageant TV Shows”. Anna Cassador is the 2019 National Classic American Woman of Service and the 2019 Ms. Rhode Island New England States. She is the owner and artist of AMC Permanent Cosmetics & Wellness, Vice President of Thermal Energy Inc. and the Founder and President of Eric Medeiros Memorial Foundation, a non profit foundation started in memory of her son Eric. Through the foundation, she aids those less fortunate with basic needs like food, clothing, emergency care, school supplies, job search coaching, animal welfare causes.
