The future of collecting is a deep dive session in regards to how we will collect and view sneakers in the future based on what's going today. Traditionally, sneaker culture is viewed through two lenses: Wearables and collectables. You either wore your trainers or they were collectable pieces. You paid for them either at retail or resale. Today, there's an additional two lens to consider. A commodity/Asset Class and digital ownership. Wearables - As a collector what are your thoughts on brands relying on nostalgia to sell sneakers? Retro-ing models? -What are your thoughts on the story of newer models? - Why do you wear kicks? What's does it do for you? There has been a growing rise regarding female sneakerheads. However, in that rise, there has been many gripes. mainly surrounding size inclusivity and gate-keeping that have been rightly been called out. However, there is a concern that beyond the size inclusivity convo, the story ends. Hence the question, what's next? But before we even ask that question, the real question is,  A very honest and tough convo to be had where we can learn and appreciate the female vantage point. This week's convo centres on retros and Re-releases of (iconic) classics from the past. The convo is inspired by a piece written by Adam Thomas on the very subject, focusing more on the materials/production methods. - There are two camps. The first being those that were gassed at the return of shoes such as the CLOTS, Bacons and Lemonades. And there are those who have paid mad money for OG pairs only to learn of their releases. Which camp do you sit in. Leave the OGs alone or Re-release them? - What about when they do a poor job of a retro (AM1 Atmos safari)  - Manufacturing techniques/materials have improved so surely there's a space for them? - What length of time should be given to retros? (If any) - Should retros be like-for-like or with the slight modification to distinguish between the OG and updated model?
