The Persistence of Christian Memory

In various aspects, the home, the mission field, and in the church, women are often the glue by which the work of the church is advanced. So much of the conversation tilts towards what roles women can or cannot due according to Scripture. What is the example set by church history?

The destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70 has been documented by historians like Josephus, Eusebius, and Epiphanius. The destruction was foretold by Jesus some 30 years before its downfall. His words offered comfort and conviction to those of the first century and is confirmed by those who carefully that study those things today. "Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him" (Ps. 2:12). 

Many look to the days of Campbell and Stone when we think of the concept of restoring the New Testament church.  However, two hundred years before their time a group known as the Anabaptist had restoration principles in mind. Though they were dismissed, persecuted and labeled the lunatic fringe in their day, their theology is one worth noting because it is still seen and felt in their influence today.
