To celebrate the 5 Year anniversary of The Playbook, I was joined by Tim Storey, Ben Baller, and one of my favorite coaching clients, Shawn Walchef. In 2017 - I thought there were "too many podcasts" to start my own, it’s amazing what can happen if you enjoy the consistent, persistent pursuit of your potentia I can’t believe that today is the 5-year anniversary of the first episode of my podcast The Playbook. My excitement stems from how many people we have positively impacted with the show! Hearing your stories and feedback on how the show has impacted your business or life remains my greatest joy. Starting as a weekly podcast featuring some of my closest friends, athletes, and entrepreneurs sharing their "playbook to success", it quickly grew into a daily show with over 1,200 episodes featuring the likes of Cameron Diaz, Gary Vaynerchuk, Maria Sharapova, Tony Hawk, Tilman Fertitta, business leaders like Chip Wilson (Founder, Lululemon), Howard Behar (President, Starbucks), to legendary entertainers like Dan Aykroyd, Randy Jackson, Danica Patrick, thought leaders Jack Canfield, Sadhguru, Marianne Williamson, and many more. I genuinely appreciate all of your support in making this podcast possible. If you’ve found any value or entertainment from my podcast, it would mean the world to me if you left a review on Apple podcasts. Click here to leave a review. Motivation Know that motivation doesn’t have longevity to it. It’s temporary. There is a difference between the performance of an employee who seems motivated and an employee who is engaged and inspired. Your goal as a motivational leader should be to understand how to best motivate your individual team members, as people react differently to different stimuli and situations. Fear and Motivation - People think that you need to be afraid or experiencing fear to be motivated. Understand that fear only provides you momentary focus, not motivation. Inspiration goes two ways, but first know that you are accountable for your own inspiration. When you are inspired, you are empowered to invest more (not sacrifice more) to get what you want, if you truly want it. Take accountability for yourself. Find what you love to do and align it with what must be done. Then, work to surround yourself with the right people. When I say, “the right people,” I mean the parts of the people you are most attracted to— the parts of others that bring you confidence, make you feel happy, or empower you to be your best self. The second part of inspiration comes from helping your team clear their connection to that which inspires them. Encourage them to participate in activities and philanthropy that they enjoy. A priority is the concern, interest or desire that comes before all others. Our priorities are the areas of our lives that are meaningful and important to us. They're usually activities, practices, or relationships that we want to put genuine effort and time into. The system that I use in order to organize my priorities by day, week, month, and year is what I call my 5 Daily Practices. 1. Know your WHAT 2. Know your WHO 3. Know your HOW 4.Know Your NOW 5. The first step of branding a person, product, or service is to find its frequency. What does that mean, “to find your brand’s frequency”? Whether it’s building a brand that is a person, place, thing, product, or service, it’s essential to find out what the “woo-woo” person in me describes as a “vibration”— in other words, an emotional appeal meant to reverberate with your target audience or market. The last recession impacted stocks for several years, so it is natural to expect this bear market to react similarly. One good rule of thumb to help you create a financial plan is to assume that your stocks and funds could drop 50 percent overnight and stay down for a very long time. This will help you to better determine your timing and risk tolerance, in terms of investing in stocks. Understanding your timing and risk tolerance when investing is essential but that does not mean that you can win by avoiding taking any risks. As previously mentioned, I tend to lean towards a more conservative approach with stocks and bond investments, and make sure that is aligned with the ever-increasing costs of living. Remember that when the stock market recovers, it tends to recover quickly, which can lead to decent returns if you are patient.
