Spotify is pairing with Netflix in 2026 as a brand-new podcasting distribution platform. What does that mean for creators like us? And does it spark the end of all things podcast, or is this actually an exciting new venture that we could eventually tap into? Louie takes a look. Want to get into podcasting but need a little push? Join our 3-day Podcasting event in Peterborough! – Get in touch for details! Use email: podcast@disruptivemedia.co.uk Episode Takeaways In 2026, a selection of Spotify Studios and The Ringer video podcasts are coming to Netflix. At first, for USA subscribers. Initially, only shows that are already growing on Spotify and a curated set of The Ringer podcasts will get a bigger stage via Netflix. It's unlikely that small indie podcasts will join them, but a show that grows might. Most people consume their podcasts on the go, rather than sitting on the sofa, so their switching to consuming via Netflix is far from a sure thing. The podcast game is changing - stay flexible and keep an eye out for new opportunities. Work out if it is for you, add your content and carefully monitor how many extra views you get compared to the extra time spent. BEST MOMENTS “It will give more fans more ways to connect with the stories and voices they love.” “Being uploaded to Netflix, it lends itself to your content being more dynamic, more creative, more long form.” “It's yet to be seen whether this will limit creativity and distribution or properly enhance it. “ “ As you know, as part of the agency, we're always looking at new distribution platforms.” EPISODE RESOURCES https://newsroom.spotify.com/2025-10-14/netflix-partnership-the-ringer-spotify-studios-video-podcasts VALUABLE RESOURCES Website - https://disruptivemedia.co.uk Want to get into podcasting but need a little push? Today, Louie talks through creating show notes and descriptions - what they are, what you need to include, how long they should be and more. He shares some of the insider tips and tricks podcast agencies use when writing show notes for their clients. When written well, show notes are a powerful SEO tool that feeds the algorithm with keywords and relevant information, helping your podcast get discovered by new listeners. Well-crafted show notes not only tempt your audience to tune in but also drive engagement and make it easy for people to connect with and learn to trust you, so you can turn them into fans, subscribers, and buyers. Use email: podcast@disruptivemedia.co.uk Episode Takeaways Include all of the information your viewers or listeners need to understand the episode´s message, take action and connect with you and your guests – e.g. links to sponsors, social media, products, offers, guest links etc. Show note SEO catches the attention of the algorithm and attracts more viewers. Don´t use clickbait titles, it erodes trust. But do channel that clickbait energy. Make yours catchy, but truthful. If you publish on YT make sure your account is verified. If it isn’t, your links won’t be clickable. Use time codes for the best moments to improve navigation and engagement. BEST MOMENTS “The show notes can contain lots of keywords, descriptive words that really give the algorithm a feel for what's going on in the episode.” “Titles should be catchy, ask a question or make people excited to click on the video.” “The video is the most important thing, and the show notes can help.” "Make sure you reach out to your guests. Louie talks through how to grow your podcast. How to take it from humble beginnings with one view, 10 views, 100 views, to getting 1000s and millions of views. Audiences love it too, it builds trust. Enjoying your content becomes a part of their weekly rituals and you become an integral part of their life. Be authentic. People are naturally wired to turn away from those they don´t think are honest. Employ “real world” marketing methods, they are effective and, often, easy. Louie shares several during this episode. On social media, post in a way that gives the algorithms what they want. Invite guests with strong followings, and make it easy for them to share your show and collaborate. When you do this well, their audience becomes your audience too. Create content with really high, rich keywords e.g. famous names or trends. You can piggyback off of them, feed the algorithms and get more of an audience. BEST MOMENTS “You might feel like you don't want to scream and shout about this thing that you've made, but ultimately you´ve got to bite the bullet and put yourself out there. ” “Think about who you're trying to get in touch with. Think about what platforms they might exist on.” “Make sure that you equip your guests with all the links, all the clips, all the things that they need in order to share your show.” "Even if they don't subscribe right away, they'll constantly have a stream of you, and eventually they might subscribe, or they'll just keep watching. Use email: podcast@disruptivemedia.co.uk Episode Takeaways Cut-down snippets released throughout the week on platforms like TikTok and Instagram tempt people to listen to the full episode. Plan some of your snippets beforehand and include them when you record an episode. Finding snappy moments in an interview episode can be tricky, but Louie provides some great ways to create and find those golden nuggets. Ensure your camera framing provides enough headroom and chin room and that you are centred in the frame—this makes it much easier to create high-quality, engaging social clips. Check your guests' positioning too. Keep at it, keep feeding the algorithm - some things will fail, others will go viral. Add subtitles to your clips, transitions, glitches, pattern interrupts and graphics. You have seconds to grab and hold someone´s attention, all of these elements help with that. BEST MOMENTS “At the agency, when someone sends in a full length, 20-minute-long episode, we will create 7 social media clips out of that.” “Look at your favourite YouTubers or podcasters to see how they do it and try and copy their style and emulate certain elements.” “Consider what your content looks like, and think, would I watch this myself? .” "Try and plan them (snippets) into your recording. If you speak in a monotone, in a low tone most people will automatically switch off mentally and click away. On the other hand, being over the top will also turn people off. Louie explains how to keep your energy high enough. Train yourself to be an active listener. Louie explains how to do that and react when your guest says something you want them to elaborate on. Preparation is vital. It helps your confidence and creates the mental head space to actively listen to your guest. It enables you to be truly present instead of constantly thinking about what you are going to say next. Pause briefly each time your guest stops speaking. If they have something else to say they will be able to do so without your talking over them. It also gives you and your audience time to think. BEST MOMENTS “Tip number one is all about energy, tone and pacing. Make sure, as a host, that you are constantly thinking about how your energy is coming across.” “Listen back to yourself and see how you feel or get some feedback from a listener and then react accordingly.” “Try and be as quiet as humanly possible whilst the other person's speaking, so you're not disrupting the airwaves.” "Make sure that they (your guests) are comfortable, make sure they know that they can pause. Make sure they know that you can edit things out. Make sure that you guide them through it. Using email: podcast@disruptivemedia.co.uk Episode Takeaways The space you record your podcast in affects how you feel and come across to your audience, as well as the sound quality. Your moving creates noise and vibration. Louie shares several tips to help you prevent this from ruining your podcast episodes. Angle your microphone towards the corner of your mouth. This eliminates the plosive sounds audiences find so off putting. A teleprompter will help you to look in the right direction and fully engage with the audience. Wear headphones, so you can spot if your recording fails mid-episode. Make a note for the editor if you make a mistake. Be concise. Audiences hate rambling. Working with a few bullet points helps with this issue. BEST MOMENTS “The space that you record a podcast in is very important to the sound quality and how you feel when recording.” “Imagine that the lens is a portal to your audience, and you've really got to try to look right down the lens at people.” "Avoid all costs those like sippy cup things, that's disgusting. No one wants to hear that." “At the very least, create some bullet points of where you want to start, where you want to go, in the middle, and where you want to end.” “I've even had someone do a podcast next to a runway.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Website - https://disruptivemedia.co.uk Want to get into podcasting but need a little push? For more detail on equipment head to episode ‘PODCAST EQUIPMENT 101: WHAT YOU NEED & WHY’ • Think about the positioning of your microphone as this is key to the quality of your sound. • Always wear your headphones at all times, unless you have someone listening to the recording for you. • The ‘gain’ of the microphone is essentially its sensitivity; the higher the dial, the more sensitive it is.
