Navigating music royalties can be complicated, especially when you don’t understand the legalities of copyrights. Bree Noble interviews Dave Ratner, the Lead Lawyer at Creative Law Network. Dave explains that copyright is the legal basis of creative works. As soon as you create the work, you own the rights to it. But when you record it, that’s an entirely separate copyright that involves the master.
