Today I share with you how over the last 14+ years of being a self-employed service-based entrepreneur I have learnt a rhythm that works for me in terms of planning for profit in my business. But it’s not just about profit, I plan for the busy times in my business, I plan for the busy times in my personal and family life, I plan for ideas I already have to come into physical form and I plan for space.  This is space for new ideas, surfing and the odd unplanned personal event, which happens, especially when you have kids! Planning helps you feel safe and gives you a sense of control, rather than always reacting.  I have learnt to do this after years of always reacting!  Trust me your nervous system will thank you.  On the topic of how you plan and organise your time, this is up to you, it does not need to be my way, it needs to be your way.   So, get practising and testing out how best to be in control of the time you do have.  Here we get to experience time being more expansive. I have wanted to share this story, literally all year! At the end of 2023, 2 weeks before Christmas I joined a mastermind, this was not what I had planned.  But when Lucy Sheridan showed me the sales page for her New Era mastermind something deep inside me told me very strongly that I had to say yes to this. I said yes to a £10,000, investment.  I have never invested in myself and my business at this price before. I had the first monthly instalment, but the rest of the money was unknown. And it was by far the BEST decision I have ever made. But yoga teaches us nothing is constant; everything is subject to change, and it is time for a change to my podcasting frequency. I am freeing up more time for me, more time for my family and more time for my paying clients. Energy is everything and energetically this feels right for us all. And I know you want to help people and in this, you want to be affordable. Well, affordability is relative and if you want to help people, create a business model where you have an abundance of time and money and my darling you can choose where to direct the excess energy of money and time that you have to whatever causes you feel passionate about. But please stop under-charging, please stop with the crazy payment methods and please start the work on your money mindset. This week I was gifted this statement from a very wise woman indeed  “Burnout comes from doing too much of what you don’t want to do” Yes, yes it does! As women, we are hard-wired to over-deliver, under-charge, and people please, which means saying no sometimes is very hard. Driven by all the ‘shoulds’, we do things we don’t want to do and shy away from those things we truly want if they conflict with conventional wisdom. You may love what you do, but if you’re under-charge and over-deliver the energy will be out of balance, and that is the place of burnout.  Something that is unsustainable is only unsustainable for so long. The narrative of overwhelm, burnout, and feeling stuck and tired is heavily attached to women in business. What we focus on expands, is it time to move to a different way of working and being so this narrative is no longer one we identify with? I certainly believe so! Are you experiencing a reduction in sales in your business and the number of clients signing up for your offers? Is this leading you to panic or at the very least annoying you? Well, if you’ve answered yes to the questions above this podcast episode is for you.  I can say hand on heart after 14+ years of teaching and running yoga classes, yes it is very normal for fewer people to want to commit to my in-person classes. And yes my income used to dip at this stage of the year, and yes I used to panic and not be prepared for this!  But I have learnt that it is simply not true that your income dips in the summer, there are still people wanting you and your services, but you need to adapt to services that suit the season.  Maybe that’s more bespoke 1:1 offers or an online flexible course or you open the doors to booking your future retreats and start collecting re-occurring payments. You learn to plan and adapt, after all, it is only summer in this part of the world!  Not to mention everyone who has a seasonable Christmas-based business right now is planning and preparing for this – you could be doing the same!  Keep making offers, don’t let assumptions impact your actions or non-actions, and allow the contrast, the stuff you don’t want, to move you in the direction you do want.  Want more of my help? Episode 6 season 2 – My experiences of Substack  Early this year I started my new Substack community, “Energy, Mindset, Monday and More”. What is Substack? It’s hard to say exactly, it’s a form of email marketing as each post lands as an email in your inbox, but you can also see posts directly in Substack.  It’s not just written form you can imbed videos and even podcasts directly from Substack.  People subscribed to your Substack can see archives of previous posts and you can choose to allow people to comment on posts. You can choose to give it all away for free or put some or certain features behind a paywall, so you can monetise your email list. Best of all it’s free, super easy to set up, and if you do yet have email marketing set up (why not, I have been talking about this for over 2 years now!), then it could be the quickest, easiest and most effective way for you to do this.  No website is needed, and no excuses, set aside time to make it happen. Why? Because the power of a small, engaged community of your tribe is immense, and I would draw my focus here over social media any day. I have loved using Substack to grow my new business, and to let people know how else I can help them in my role as a business and energy mentor. Inspired by meeting an incredible woman this week who has been a human rights lawyer, set up community support projects aboard and is now a woman’s coach and yoga teacher with younger children, who is looking to build a new way of working. And what was stopping her from charging appropriately and growing her business? A fear that if she made more money, wanted to make more money she would be greedy! Can you imagine what money in the hands of this woman would mean for her, her family and all those causes she would use her time and money to support? This is a very important message for us all. Wanting more money is not greedy, this is a lie we are fed. Money is just a flow of an energetic resource, it does not care who you are and what you plan to do it with. When you have an abundance of time and money you can decide how to use that excess energy. And I think we can all agree more money in the hands of women will make the world a better place. Have you ever heard the phrase “there are no new ideas”? I believe ideas live in the non-physical space, aka the space we can’t see, which according to Pam Gregory, the best astrology on YouTube, the unseen makes up 90%, and I have to say I think I agree with her. Ideas are just floating around waiting for us physical beings, aka humans, to receive them and then if they’re meant for us to take action. The problem often is we don’t take action, our beautiful brain for a whole multitude of made-up excuses says a big fat “no”, and those ideas stay just that, and we get increasingly frustrated, particularly by others who seemingly are doing what we want to do! Today I advise on the following: What to do when you get your idea How to navigate having too many ideas, I literally could start a new business or launch a new programme every day! How to know if the idea is meant for you, or perhaps you need to pass it on, I touch on Human Design and the role of a Generator. What to do when the ideas aren’t flowing, and you need them to. Inspired by a question someone asked me on how to manifest their dream life and my “Ideas to Action” July offers coming up, today’s episode is all about how we create. Truth be told I struggle with the term ‘manifest’, and I cannot fully subscribe to the concept that we are responsible for all that happens to us.  We are after all human beings on this tiny blue planet hurtling through space, we have to accept there are external circumstances beyond our control.    But our thoughts do become things, and our beliefs, which are thoughts we have continued to think over time, directly inform the actions or inactions we take. So yes when we are in this sense responsible for the creation of our reality, I like to live by the 80/20 rule, pretty much on everything! How to Manifest: Get clear on what you do want. Pay attention to your thoughts, especially the ones that are telling you “no you can’t do that”. Question these thoughts, are they true – probably not! Reverse engineer your steps to create what you want, and take the next available step. Oh and give your nervous system some love, because it’s not all about overcoming the mind, you have to bring the body with you, you’re human after all! My human design type is a generator, which is why you will always see me flowing with new ideas, and my strategy is to respond.  Ask me about your business and I am in my happy place, I love responding to your questions and I love nothing more than helping female soul-led entrepreneurs to do what lights them up and make money. As I said in today’s episode I truly believe this is my contribution to making the world a better place, the more horrific the news gets, the more fire there is in my belly to help women find aligned ways of being and working, that bring more balance, joy and harmony to the world. Undoing thousands of years of programming that has kept us from fully sharing our gifts, being our true authentic selves, and feeling wrong talking about money, let alone asking for it, is not going to be easy.   But I am here for the journey and I invite you to come with me, women it is time! Season Finale! Two years in, 104 episodes, 9000+ downloads and the end of season one, where do I begin? Firstly, a huge THANK YOU to everyone who listens and supports me, I am so grateful to you all, you are the reason I show up every week. Stepping into the world of podcasting has taught me a lot, all of which is transferable to life and business! Consistency is king, but you can only be consistent if you are doing what you love, and I love to talk! You have to allow yourself to be a beginner, to start something new, we all start from zero. The power of connection and community always comes before sales, people have to know you before they buy anything from you. The greatest joy from podcasting for 2 years has been all the positive feedback and help that I have offered to other yoga teachers and female soul-led entrepreneurs.  I cannot wait for more of this! As we enter season 2 you will notice a little shift, but this shift has been obvious as my episodes evolved, I just haven’t been brave enough to say it, but I am literally coming out!
