Description
Navigating through quarter-life is confusing and stressful, yet these are the defining years where we can pause, reflect, share, and learn from each other to create a well-lived life that we all are thriving for. As an international student and twenty-something living in the US, I hope this podcast is a bridge connecting people with different identities together to share their life stories and cultivate compassion for ourselves and others in the world. As human beings, we’re not perfect. Join me and my guests every month to talk about our struggles, mess-ups, and learnings during our twenties.

Have you ever heard of a term called "acculturation"? According to its definition, it refers to the process by which an individual or group adopts the practices and values of one culture while still retaining their own culture of origin. Today, we're looking into this concept in the lens of an Iraqi American who refuged with her family from Iraq to Syria, and then the United States for a better future, Rana Issa. Being granted with a citizenship or a visa to live in another country doesn't render anyone immune to immigration-related stressors. It's such a great experience to hear Rana's stories as a child of immigrant - her childhood, challenges, and learning lessons she's gathered throughout her life. This episode is not to be missed! Happy new year everyone!!! I'm so thankful for your support to the Quarterlife Pausecast. My first guest of 2024 is Victoria Gawedzki. She's a doctor of physical therapy, physical therapist, certified personal trainer, and many more. Let's kick off this year with one of our favorite topics - joyful movements and how to exercise with joy and love. Whether you've just started or already doing exercises, we hope this episode is a good reminder of how strong you are, how fun exercises can be, and how small daily habits can make a difference! I wish you a year of love, challenges, and growth!
Happy December! In this episode, my special guest Vrushangi Shah joins me to talk about her journey of finding and switching majors during undergraduate years and the value of being authentic as an early careerist. She is a SLU alumni and currently working as a Program Manager of the Adolescent & Young Adult Oncology Program at UCLA after earning her Master of Health Administration at University of Southern California. Choosing a major is an important decision that can shape our academic journey and future career. Yet, it can also be confusing, especially when we’re trying to figure out what feels “right” and “wrong” for us. Let’s hear about Vrushangi’s journey that has made her who she is today and some amazing advices from her!

Welcome to the first episode of the Quarterlife Pausecast! Today my friend Antonio Donohue and I will be talking about the hustle culture that a lot of us are pursuing now, especially in our twenties and college environment. Have you ever felt like you need to take a break from your fast-paced life? Or that guilt when you're not doing non-productive work? Is hustle culture a double-edged sword? In which ways has it affected us, our relationships, and well-being and shaped our success? How have we learned to slow down and rejuvenate ourselves after hours of non-stop productivity. Let's dive in these questions with us!
