Eight years ago(5/17/06), two friends got together to record what was suppose to be a simple demo for a New Jersey radio station. That demo never reached the mail. Instead it became, The Rabblecast. A weekly excuse for two guys(James Hatton and Erik Hernandez) to get together and talk about one of their many favorite passions, professional wrestling. For eight years The Rabblecast has covered all things pro wrestling. From the big companies, the local shows, and even a few road stories from the guys themselves.
Since then the show has changed. Multiple guest(s), format changes, people have come and gone. But the idea has always been the same. Let's talk about wrestling!
With this episode, we are re-releasing our very first episode. Aside from the added intro, the audio is untouched and presented in its original form. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did back then. Thank you for listening.
We are The Rabblecast!
It wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either. That's the general opinion for WWE's Extreme Rules 2014. We cover some of the different highlights of WWE's recent pay per view. For a more in depth look you can head over to Inside Pulse and check out our Wrestling news section. We try not spoil every match, but we do talk about The Sheild vs Evolution, Bray Wyatt vs John Cena, and a few other details.
In the land of TNA Wrestling, there are some tell tale signs of how the company views its own current champion. In a news release announcing TNA's upcoming European tour, Eric Young(current TNAchampion) is openly listed as one of the "second tier" stars appearing on the tour. What does TNA expect from their viewing audience if they themselves can't even see Eric Young as a main event player? Or was this an old news release that was not updated since the title change on Impact Wrestling a few weeks back?
We are The Rabblecast!
What could normally be viewed as a passable show in, WWE Extreme Rules 2014 seems a lot more enticing now with the WWE Network. As stated on this episode, it seems almost financially irresponsible not to watch if you're a paying subscriber to the network. Daniel Bryan defends his title for the very first time after his Wrestlemania 30 victory. John Cena continues his battle against the Wyatt Family. And course, let's not forget The Shield vs Evolution!
Over in TNA Wrestling, Eric Young successfully defended his title at TNA Sacrifice. Maybe giving him the TNA title was not a desperation move after all? You can never really tell in the professional wrestling business. But now there's talk of a new investor in TNA? With this piece of news also comes the potential return of recently released talent. What are the chances of AJ Styles returning to a TNA ring?
We are The Rabblecast!
After weeks of high paced excitement and exhibition, we are back to your normal week in and week out of professional wrestling. Sure, there are pay per views coming up, but they are the starting point of something new. WWE is prepping their latest offering in Extreme Rules 2014. With the WWE Network being the "go to" option to watch Extreme Rules, it should be interesting to see how future pay per views are tallied as far as views/buy rates.
TNA Wrestling presents, Sacrifice 2014 a week before WWE's next show. Keep in mind that TNA is sticking to their reduced pay per view schedule, so wrestling fans are expecting a little more from TNA and their paid shows. Current TNA champion, Eric Young will be in a rematch against former champion, Magnus. Will TNA change course and go back to Magnus? Or do they have more long term plans with EY?
We are, The Rabblecast!
On our last episode of The Rabblecast, our news was dominated by WWE's Wrestlemania 30, Monday Night RAW, and the passing of WWE Legend, The Ultimate Warrior. While WWE is the number one company in the professional wrestling world, we did not mean to exclude the other companies. However, the show is only so long.
With that... This week we talk about TNA and their new Heavyweight Champion, Eric Young! A move that has already drawn lots of criticism, but should it? Eric Young, one of TNA's regulars for pretty much the entirety of the company has finally been given the chance to be on top. But are the comparisons to another wrestler in the likes of, Santino Marella(primarily a comedy act in WWE) fair? Another comparison being made is that of the current WWE Champion, Daniel Bryan for the "underdog" aspect of Eric Young's character. Which one is more appropriate? Why does TNA draw so much negative attention when a new champion is crowned?
In WWE news, Sting has officially been announced as being signed to the company. What role he will play in WWE has yet to be revealed. The deal is reportedly not just a Legends Contract, but for a TV role. Will Sting be a regular competitor in WWE or will they they save him for next year's Wrestlemania?

Wrestlemania! The largest spectacle in the world of professional wrestling definitely left a lot of impressions with the WWE Universe and wrestling fans in general. What's being referred to as, "one of the best Wrestlemania's in recent history", Wrestlemania 30 delivered many ups and downs. But it wasn't just Wrestlemania, there was also the Hall of Fame ceremony which included the inductions of former WWE Superstars such as Razor Ramon, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, The Ultimate Warrior, and more. And of course, there is the night after Wrestlemania, Monday Night RAW.
Everything was going well. Fan reactions were at an all time high. But all the excitement came to stop when the recently inducted, Ultimate Warrior collapsed and passed away after being taken to a nearby medical facility almost 24 hours after delivering a "classic" Warrior speech on MondayNight RAW. You will hear our reactions and thoughts on all of this and more.

Wrestlemania 30 is nearly upon us. In this episode the guys rundown the Wrestlemania card as it currently stands. Find out what matches have been added or changed. More names have been added to the inaugural Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Who made the cut and who was taken out? Will this new Battle Royal be one to remember or just another gimmicky match idea with a legendary wrestler's name attached to it? Will the newly launched WWE Network make a difference as far Wrestlemania 30 is concerned? All of this and more Pro Wrestling news(don't forget about TNA Wrestling) as we do our Wrestlemania breakdown.

After weeks(or months if you've been watching longer) of WWE fans voicing their displeasure with the treatment of Daniel Byran, WWE makes good. With less than a month away from Wrestlemania 30, Daniel Bryan has now been positioned for milestone night by having a singles match, with Triple H and depending on the outcome of that match, possibly a three-way WWE Title match. But the question is, can WWE be trusted as far as the outcome(s) of one of the biggest nights of the year?
TNA's Lockdown 2014 had a few surprises, returns, and lots of cage matches. You can now count Bobby Lashley as being part of the TNA roster continuing TNA's love affair with former WWE stars and current MMA competitors. *Spoiler Alert: "Dixie Land" is closed as TNA pushes forward with their new initiative. What other changes can we expect for Impact Wrestling? Does this make you want to watch TNA more?

WWE has a lot of work on their hands as they try to figure out the line up for Wrestlemania 30. The big questions that many of the fans are wondering are, what's happening with CM Punk and Daniel Bryan? CM Punk has yet to re-apear in the WWE. That hasn't stopped the fans from chanting his name hoping that he will appear in some shape or form. As for Daniel Bryan, will he get added to the WWE Championship match to help the "blah" match of a returning Batista vs Randy Orton?
Lockdown 2014 is up next for TNA Wrestling and it will finally show what Dixie Carter and company have been building toward with the new focus on a younger roster. One pay per view will not make or break TNA, but it will give the fans a better idea of what to expect moving on forward in 2014. Team Dixie vs Team MVP, who will come out on top and take control of TNA Wreslting?

It's here! It's finally here, The WWE Network has arrived! But, as with anything brand new, it comes with its own flaws. Technical glitches, log in issues, streams freezing mid viewing, etc. Obvious flaws aside, the WWE Network has a lot of potential, but it has a long way to go to fulfill the promises made by the WWE itself. Is this the next milestone in professional wrestling?
TNA Wrestling continues pushing younger talent while adding some new faces as well. With the recent run of taped shows in the UK for their Maximum Impact tour, TNA has hit a nice little stride that they hope to build upon when they return to the USA to present their next PPV, Lockdown 2014. Not to mention their upcoming co-promoted shows with Wrestle-1 in Japan.

WWE might be looking for a new home in the very near future. Negotiations between WWE and NBC Universal have yet to reach a conclusion. As a result, WWE is free to play the field and seek out other prospective offers. If WWE does find a new home, it will be for all of its programming(RAW, Smackdown, and others) not just any one show in particular. Will WWE still be able to get top dollar for their TV programming with the WWE Network less than one week away from launch?
TNA Wrestling is getting ready for their next PPV, Lockdown 2014. This will be their first PPV that they are charging for in 2014. With the recent changes to their roster and new acquisitions, TNA stands a good chance of coming out on top after many reboots/restarts. How long will the Dixie Carter vs MVP storyline carry out? Is this what TNA fans are looking for?

Here comes another mini-episode... kinda.
TNA Wrestling recently taped a bunch of episodes while on their overseas tour. Part of what made the first episode so special was the reveal of TNA's new mystery investor. Former WWE Superstar, MVP(Montel Vontavious Porter) has joined TNA's Impact Wrestling as the opposing force to the "Dixie era". Will MVP be another name in a long list of former WWE talent to make a pit-stop in TNA? Or will this further TNA's efforts to push younger talent and reinvigorate their talent roster?
During the recent, National Pro Wrestling Day event it was announced that Chikara Pro Wrestling will be making their return on 5/25/14 out in Easton, PA. What will happen after nearly a year of the promotion closing down? We're just as excited as everyone else to hear this news.

It is common place to label the day after any wrestling event as the "fallout" of whatever happened the night before(i.e. Wrestlemania Fallout, Summer Slam Fallout...). This might very well be the first, in a long time that the word "fallout" rings true in regards to WWE's recent Royal Rumble 2014 PPV. The show itself ran just fine, but the fans expected a much different outcome than what the WWE had planed on delivering. Is this another example of the WWE being out of touch with their fans? Is favoritism running rampant leading into Wrestlemania 30?
TNA Wrestling recently parted ways with one of their "homegrown" talents in, AJ Styles. Are they prepared to possibly lose two more names? Sting and Kurt Angle are by no means "homegrown" when it comes to TNA, but each of them brought a certain amount of name recognition, respect, and ability. Both men have contracts that are expiring soon. Will TNA do everything in their power to hold on to them?

WWE's Royal Rumble is upon us. With it comes the beginning of the "Road to Wrestlemania". Who will go on to challenge for WWE's top title at the biggest show in the wrestling business? What surprises can we expect from the Rumble match itself. Also, how will WWE's PPV perform as one of the last traditionally distributed PPVs?
The rumor mill was going strong a few weeks back that TNA would be bought out by someone new. Nothing certain came of those rumors, but it would seem now that TNA is looking to blur the line between storyline and reality even further. With the addition of the, American Wolves(Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards) to the roster they have introduced the "new investor" character to Impact Wrestling. How will this affect TNA?

The WWE Network was announced at the CES show in Las Vegas, Nevada. Now that the dust has settled on the announcement, the details have emerged. With their new "over the top" model they hope to be a few steps ahead of the viewing habits of the viewers. For the time being, WWE hopes to run both their new Network and the traditional Cable TV and PPV shows. How long will it be until their partners(Direct TV in particular) decide that they're getting the short end of the deal from WWE and their new distribution model. And let's not forget the upcoming Royal Rumble PPV that will be one of the last traditionally distributed PPV's.
The first shows of 2014 for TNA Wrestling are starting to air and with that a "reboot" of sorts to the different storylines. "Out with the old, in with the new..." was a part of one Dixie Carter's recent tweets regarding their talent roster and recent changes. After a mess of a unification match, in which we said "goodbye" to, AJ Styles, what does TNA hope to deliver to wrestling fans? Can their new champion, Magnus fulfill TNA's new vision/direction?

Welcome back to, The Rabblecast!
WWE has caused a lot of buzz with their announcement from the CES show in Las Vegas, Nevada. The much anticipated WWE Network is at the heart of th announcement and once the details are revealed, it's sure to be a game changer.
TNA Wrestling is building up toward a title vs title match with their newly crowned TNA Champion, Magnus taking on the returning, AJ Styles. Depending on how this plays out could determine just how wrestling fans view TNA and their new direction. Is 2014 the year that TNA finds its own identity?

The WWE Universe is up for grabs! That is until NBC can decide whether not to accept WWE's terms for renewing their contract(s) for all of their programming. Worst case scenario, WWE will have to find a new home for all of their shows(RAW, Smackdown, and more). The upside being that WWE might be able to find a partner to help them finally launch their very own network. Everything is up in the air as the two companies negotiate what could be a turning point, not just for WWE, but for the Professional Wrestling industry.
On the other side of the wrestling fence, "Former TNA Wrestler", AJ Styles is a free agent! The idea that TNA is currently running with is that Styles and TNA could not come to terms on a contract renewal. This leaves "The Phenomenal One" free to go where ever he wants, with the TNA Championship around his waist. With Styles' booking dates filling up, TNA is hoping to generate some buzz that might translate into more TNA fans and possibly higher ratings for "Impact Wrestling". A risky move on their part, but sometimes the risk is worth the payoff.

WWE's Slammy Awards! They happen once a year and they give the fans a chance to have their voices heard as they vote for the different categories. "Superstar of the Year", "Diva of the Year", "Match of the Year". But recently, they have opened up the voting categories to include, "LOL Moment of the Year", "Double-Cross of the Year", among others. Are the Slammy Awards that important to the WWE product that they air them on RAW? Especially when they should be hyping up the "Title Unification match" at the upcoming TLC PPV? Has WWE become a full blown variety show?
Not much to report on the TNA front this week as they continue to re-build themselves in the new "Impact Zone". The "TNA for sale" rumors persist, but nothing has changed since the, BillyCorgan rumor. Dixie Carter vs AJ Styles continues to be the main drive of the show and we are looking forward to see what TNA can do with that and the many other storylines. Can TNA still make themselves a vialble competitor to the WWE? Time will tell.

WWE is looking to refocus their resources toward launching the WWE Network in the early part of 2014. Do they have the key elements in place to make this happen?
TNA continues to push forward after their return to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. With the demise of Ace's & 8's and the continued "heel" turn of, Dixie Carter, is TNA finally on the right track to turning themselves around? This might be a new beginning for a company that has struggled to find itself in recent years.
