Today we’re talking with Amy Lee known on IG as @musa_mama.  Amy is a Korean mama to 5 beautiful babes. She is holding down the postpartum game serving delicious Korean ancestral foods.   This episode we get to hear Amy’s story into deciding to birth her children in autonomy. I get chills just thinking about this woman’s journey and the power she exudes. Get ready to fall in love with one of our favorite people.   Follow Amy on ig @musa_mama / More birth related things @musamama_birth / And more cannabis health things @maryjane_milf.gang    Enjoy!
We're honored to have Metzli Lopez Torres on the show to dive into Dia de los Muertos. It's right around the corner and we can feel the veil thinning and our ancestors near. Metzli is an indigenous sobadora, birth worker, mother, anthropologist, feminist, environmentalist, sister, and daughter. You can find her on ig @lunamama_services. Today we speak on the news of forced sterilizations in the ICE Detention Centers in Georgia. We aren't surprised but we still are enraged and grieving that this is still happening. Take care of yourselves and nourish while you listen to this episode. If you want to chat about it, head to @theradicalwombpodcast on IG and let us know your thoughts. We hear you. We see you.
As usual, we get into a lot this episode! We touch on front baby wearing and how it can encourage a matriz caida (misaligned uterus). We get into postpartum foods inspired by @musa_mama, and other ancestral postpartum practices that we are excited to reclaim. We talk about our peanut butter preferences and learn that Ajira’s love language is adding butter to anything and everything : ) For the meaty part of the episode we examine how we were the best parents before we had kids! There’s so much that comes up in parenting and we’re finding that … get this…. its mostly our own shit! Ajira drops parenting knowledge bombs that you will want to write down and stick on your mirror and I (Daniella) tell a little bit about a webinar I attended called Ending Chancla Culture hosted by Leslie Arreola-Hillenbrand of Latinxparenting. I’m joining her 6 week parenting series and I’m so excited! You can follow Leslie on IG @latinxparenting To all the parents out there, we see you. Let us know if anything from today’s episode resonates with you! We’d love to hear from you.
Birth in the Time of Covid

Birth in the Time of Covid

2020-08-2501:11:18

What does birth look like in the time of COVID?  With so many changes happening and lots of feelings about health and safety on high alert how are people birthing, and how does Covid affect birthing choices? If you’re a birth worker, have a loved one whose pregnant, pregnant yourself, interested in birthing in autonomy and just want to know what’s up! Tune IN! In this episode we also announce the BIPOC Mentorship that we’re a part of that's being offered through the Birth Bruja platform. It’s open to all Black, Indigenous, & People of Color who are practicing or interested in becoming successful, community based, trauma informed birthworkers who practice intersectional, liberational & decolonial approaches to birthwork. This program consists of 10 group gatherings and optional 1:1 sessions with mentors Learn more at BirthBruja.com >Community Offerings >BIPOC Mentorship
We interview my friend Jonea, an experienced freebirther, black woman, mother to 3 pregnant with one on the way and hear about her journey to freebirthing. We talk about racism is the hospital system, why simply being alive and living in JOY as a black person is an act of resistance, and how simple practices of self care are revolutionary in reclaiming the self care and rest her ancestors were denied.
Tie It Back To Birth

Tie It Back To Birth

2020-08-1151:53

Parasite Cleanses, Failing Fast, Jars, and Drums. We get into a whole bunch of things on today’s episode.   We’re a day late publishing but that’s kind of the point of this episode. Be mindful, check in with how you doin, and live your best multidimensional life!   Ajira gets into how she has found lots of healing melting into the idea of acceptance. As always she drops knowledge for living with more ease. I mean who doesn’t want that!?   And I? well… I’m starting a parasite cleanse inspired by the amazing @bevegan And of course gut health is so connected to womb health!   We tie all the things back to birth bc we’re birth nerds and also get an ego check as I realize “my back goes out more than I do”   If you haven’t already, like, subscribe, and leave us a review on iTunes or your favorite podcast listening app. And thank you to all those who have showed us love. We appreciate it!!

Join us as we talk with our fellow birth worker friend Danellia Arechiga she/her. Danellia is passionate about intersectionality and weaves it into her work. She's a childbirth educator, placenta encapsulation specialist, full spectrum doula and integrates consciousness, mindfulness, and ancestral medicine into her work. At the time of the recording, Danellia is a surrogate for an intended family. We dive into questions and topics like: what will postpartum time look like, debunking things that nay sayers say and acknowledging some truths to different surrogacy situations.
Pivot to Periods

Pivot to Periods

2020-07-2758:05

Sometimes you have to go with the flow. Literally. Our conversation today shifted and centered around periods. Our first periods, self care, steaming, periods after having children. All of it.
Today we're speaking with our friend Brooke Patmor (they/them).  Brooke is a full spectrum doula and reproductive justice advocate providing support for all birth outcomes including abortion, miscarriage, and stillbirth. As a queer, fat, non-binary person themselves, Brooke is dedicated to offering inclusive care. We dive into birth support for queer and trans families and look at it through the lense of Covid. We get into hospital birth culture, why having a doula is helpful, and why inclusivity does NOT take away from other birthing peoples experiences.  You can learn more about Brooke and their collective at The Born Collective and follow them on Instagram at borncollectivesf
