Description

The Reforming Christian is the podcast of Stephen Gambill. He has been a follower of Jesus Christ for over 37 years and a pastor in Nashville, Tennessee for almost 20. He teaches as pastors' colleges in Zambia, has done various conferences, and loves his home which is filled with the presence of his wife of 30 years Kimberly, and his two children Hannah and Joshua. And their Huskey Jazzy.

Stephen will be sharing with you some of the things he has learned on this vaporous but exhilarating journey of reading and experience. The goal is to walk as better disciples of Jesus. In addition to (but far below) Jesus, the teachers that have most influenced Stephen would include Jonathan Edwards, C.S. Lewis, Francis Schaeffer, John Piper, Leland Ryken, and Tim Keller.

His top 20 Strengthsfinder themes are Input, Connectedness, Learner, Adaptability, and Intellection. He is an ENFP on the Meyers-Briggs.

He is looking most forward to Jesus' return.

In this episode, Stephen addresses the issue of "mindfulness", a concept that is quite popular in culture and in the field of productivity.  Acknowledging that much of the popularity is due to the influence of Eastern Mysticism, he raises the question as to whether this has any truth to it, and if there is something Christians can relate to it.
The Bible gives strong warnings against the wisdom of the world. Does this mean that we can't learn anything significant from other sources? Can we receive genuine insights from philosophy, psychology, economics, the arts, etc. In this episode, Stephen makes a biblical distinction between worldly wisdom and wisdom in the world.
