Does money really make the world go round? Economics, business and finance have long been subjects we leave to the stockbrokers, hedge fund managers and business school professors who spend their lives obsessing over them - but there’s no reason we shouldn’t discuss ‘money’ in the same way we talk about sport and TV.
In their new podcast, The Rest Is Money, business correspondent and broadcaster Steph McGovern is joined by old friend and economics expert Robert Peston to explore everything we need to know about the issues that affect us in our everyday lives: how will AI affect your job and our economic prospects? Are we stuck with higher inflation for years to come? Why are wealthy nations like Saudi Arabia buying up sport?

Alastair's shout out to the School for the Deaf??🤣🤣🤣
🤦♀️ how disappointing having to listen to two men speak of the political career of Glenda Jackson in such dismissive terms, a former actor l've found it seems unlikely people will separate the person from the images we create, we're not those images, those are roles we play, Jackson always struck me as genuine, committed & honest, with integrity, perhaps she hit a dud note from time to time, what politician has not?, however her service is to be admired not mired, Vale Glenda Jackson
😕 I disagree with believing it's OK to, in your opinion, 'try to convince' voters into changing their vote, whether men can acknowledge this or not, it's the 'no means no' problem
I regret not finding TRIP earlier, however you can thank Gyles Brandreth for mentioning it in the podcast Something Rhymes With Purple, it's been a wonderful experience to listen to two intelligent, well informed people discuss politics rather than shouting ill informed opinions across the divide, I have been listening to previous episodes over the last few days & thoroughly enjoying them
where can I find the book le Piege that you mention? is it available in English? a Google search came up blank.
Re POTE ERROR IN AUDIBLE VERSION Rory there is part of the Audible recording missing @ about 34 mins. It jumps from Kerry/Gore meeting to working with Hillary. Dan Bindman
Simply astonishing
France is a safe country. Getting worked up about that fact doesn't change it. There has to be a better way to help people.

Why are you avoiding the whole SNPwanting an Independence Minister. British taxpayers issue? No! Millions paid by the taxpayers to pay for politicians legal bills. Labour and Tories.
Piroshkyn? 😳
Berlusconi's lodge.... P2?? How can you not remember the scandal/conspiracy of Roberto Calvi hung from a bridge in London with bricks/masonry in his pockets/God's Banker/The Vatican?? That demands a pod on its own gents!!
If Johnson is such a "winner" why doesn't he stand in the Uxbridge by-election. Put his great personal mandate to the test.
Liz Truss says hold my beer
this episode almost made me stop listening to this podcast, after Rory's spiteful outburst first to 'lie' about what was on Alistairs t-shirt re immigration, and then angrily trying to save himself by saying all those on the left wanted unfettered immigration which is frankly ludicrous and completely inaccurate.
It's a shame that Alistair spends all hos time defending a disastrous decision which destroyed a nation
Rory: A correction: Israel *does* have many elements of a written constitution in its Basic Laws, contrary to what you said in the pod. See https://knesset.gov.il/constitution/ConstIntro_eng.htm#:~:text=Israel%20has%20no%20written%20constitution,which%20enjoy%20semi%2Dconstitutional%20status The Israeli Supreme Court enforces those Basic Laws and has a fine jurisprudential record.
This pod has become pretty stale in the last few months. Most episodes consist of a quick rant from Alistair on Brexit or the government then a whistlestop tour of a few world events. Rarely any analysis outside what you've likely already digested from the news unless UK party politics being discussed. A lot of promotion and adverts. Rory holding this together by a thread! For those interested in US politics I'd recommend real clear politics and UK maybe the new statesman and spiked. World events theres loads but the red line is incredible
Absolutely brilliant episode chaps (The Iraq War). Great to hear detail and not conspiracy theories from people actually involved. First class and keep up the good work! John in Manchester
The Rest is Politics - better than the BBC.
