In ways that only he can, James Harden launched himself into headlines early on Halloween morning with the news that he had been traded (finally) to the LA Clippers (6:50). Kristaps Porzingis and the Celtics' new-look roster is undefeated thus far, how far can they take it? Let’s make the case for each title contender as to why or why not they should be taken seriously moving forward (spoiler: I’m just not buying the Phoenix thing. Not yet at least.) (18:40) *REUPLOAD FROM 10/31/22*
The NBA season is fast approaching and with it comes some new faces on new teams. With Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis in, and Marcus Smart and others out, the Celtics are as all-in as they’ve ever been. (2:45) Damian Lillard takes over the point in Milwaukee. How did the Heat manage to lose out? (28:39) Are Dame and Giannis the league’s top duo? (33:24)
This league moves fast, and if you blink, you can miss a lot. Prior to the start of NBA free agency, we saw the Celtics move on from Marcus Smart (3:00), sending me into a coma for the last two weeks. Now that free agency is upon us, we find ourselves in the midst of yet another superstar trade demand. Dame and the Blazers are finally breaking up! (37:31) Dame is Vice City dreaming, but does Portland have something else in mind? Oh, and KD has assembled yet another superteam! (52:33) More shockingly, the Wizards blew it up.
On an evening where history was made by the Denver Nuggets and Nikola Jokic, the Denver superstar only had one thing on his mind after winning it all— getting back home. That’s a good way to sum up the NBA’s most unlikely superstar. Since Nikola won’t spend a second of his time praising himself, or boasting about his team winning it all, I’m here to do it for him.
I can’t breathe. My body is numb. The Celtics, only as they can, continue their monumental comeback against the Miami Heat. How did we get here? It all just feels like a blur. Let’s try and talk through this. Cancel your Memorial Day plans. We have a game seven in Boston on Monday.
“Don’t let us win one” was the motto for the Celtics headed into game four in Miami, and the Heat didn’t get the memo! (01:45) Jayson Tatum’s huge second half sends this series back to Boston for a game five! After sending the Lakers on vacation early, Nikola Jokic is the single headliner for the NBA finals so far. What would a ring mean for the Joker’s career and his legacy? (23:00) After losing in four games to Denver, LeBron James teased his retirement postgame. Is there any chance he would actually consider it this summer? (35:11)
In a game that saw the demise AND reprise of the Celtics’ star Jayson Tatum, the Celts earn a game seven on their home floor! (08:45) The weight of the world has seemingly been lifted off of the C’s, but is that enough to give them the edge against the Sixers? After an early exit for the Golden State Warriors, they have some tough decisions involving their core of Steph, Draymond, and Klay (33:20). What lies ahead of them in this long offseason?
After letting one get away in overtime of game four, the Celtics look awful at home in a game five loss to the 76ers (2:42). What is there to make of the Tatum-Brown tandem at this stage? After Phoenix won two stunners at home without CP3, Jokic did Jokic stuff as the Nuggets take a 3-2 lead (36:02). Can Durant and Booker keep up the heavy workload? Stephen Curry goes superhuman in LA, but Lonnie Walker put a stop to the Warrior's hopes of tying this series (45:55). Yes, you read that right.
After a shocking loss to the James Harden-led Sixers in Boston, the Celtics returned to their marksman-like ways with a dominant shooting performance that sent a statement in newly-crowned MVP Joel Embiid's return (00:48). We even got Payton Pritchard minutes! Let’s go! Fresh off a game seven date with the Kings, Steph Curry and the Warriors had to face the two-way demolition man Anthony Davis who was seen carrying the entire Laker team on his back all the way from LA to San Fran (17:56). In heroic fashion, AD and the Lakers took care of business in game one. Is there any chance they make this series a short one?
The first round of the NBA playoffs has come and gone, and we have landed upon some epic second-round matchups. After discussing the massive success that was the King's season (3:14), we must ask what on earth went wrong for Milwaukee and what’s next for the team that was once title-favorites. Boston and Philadelphia started things off without Joel Embiid, and James Harden rose to the occasion (22:39). Do they have what it takes to take down the Celts? LeBron and Steph matchup for what may be the last time in a greatly-anticipated West Semifinals (46:02). Who launches themselves back into the conference final?
The dog days of the NBA season have come to a close, and all that remains is the seeding race for the play-in tournament out West. Who will be the lucky team that gets to face Kevin Durant and the Suns in the first round? We largely know who will all be in the playoffs now, so who has the most to play for? Be it for legacy or otherwise, which teams and players will be under the most pressure to come through in these playoffs? Jokic? Embiid? LeBron and the Lakers? All this and more.
Once the runaway best team in the league, the Celtics have stunk since the all-star break, what gives? Are they still the favorites in the east, or has Milwaukee jumped too far ahead? The All-NBA teams have never been more important, so it’s important we get it right. With a few weeks left in the season, and with a lot of stars missing games, I take a look ahead at what the three teams could shape up to be.
With a great weekend of basketball upon us, we had two MVP-candidate juggernauts face off in Milwaukee in the form of Joel Embiid and Giannis Antetokounmpo kick it off. The result is Philadelphia's best win on the season as they bring the Bucks' league-leading 16-game win streak to a close. What will Philly need to turn it into playoff success? The Clippers couldn't wait to bring Russell Westbrook into the fold, after five games, are they already regretting that choice? Ja Morant is one of the top talents in today's game, yet he can't keep himself out of the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. With Morant and others out, what can Memphis make of this final stretch in the season? Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving fought their way out of Brooklyn, and now face off with their new-look teams. After watching dominant performances from Devin Booker and KD, are the Suns poised to bulldoze their way to the Finals?
After Saturday's slugfest between two eastern juggernauts, what does each of Boston and Philadelphia have going for them? In a game that saw Joel Embiid do whatever he wanted for 48 minutes, is he the most unguardable player in the league right now? The Mavericks blew a 26-point lead to the Lakers, and they drop to 1-3 in games that Kyrie and Luka play together in. With tough matchups ahead, including three more meetings with Memphis, is there a chance Dallas could miss the playoffs? LeBron is likely to miss multiple weeks with the injury he sustained against the Mavs, is this it for LeBron in LA?
With the shockwaves of the busiest trade deadline in recent memory beginning to cool down, now is a good time to reflect on what all went down, what really matters, and what we can brush off. We have questions to answer. Are the Suns the new favorites? Are the Nets actually screwed? What about the Lakers? What about Russell Westbrook?! Also, I spent considerable time talking T-Wolves because I love Anthony Edwards and want to save him from the black hole in Minnesota.    PS: Yeah, I love the Mike Muscala trade. So, what? Sue me!
Moments after the Lakers' loss to the Thunder that saw LeBron James claim the all-time scoring title from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, I share my thoughts on yet another landmark milestone in James' career. Is the writing on the wall for the Lakers to make a big swing at the trade deadline? Kyrie predictably sets fire to Brooklyn, forcing the Nets' hand to move him to yet another winning situation. What does this season look like for Dallas now with the two ultra-offensive weapons in Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving? Why didn't the Lakers push harder for Kyrie? Reactions to the two most significant storylines in the NBA and more. PS: I am planning on going all-in on a trade deadline special episode to be released on deadline day. I like to think of myself as a trade machine aficionado, so I will be putting my GM skills on full display in the event your favorite team needs a little help.
I'm here to console you (or ridicule you) for the most popular snubs from NBA All-Star. After showing out in a classic big-man duel between Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid, what more does the 76ers center have to prove? LeBron is coming up on breaking Kareem's all-time scoring record, and I walk through what it means for his already incredible legacy.  PS: I made it through a thorough (or at least I had thought it was) All-Star segment, and did not mention Anthony Davis being left off the all-star roster. Mistake. The Brow is incredible and clearly deserving of a roster spot. Let's fix NBA All-Star.
Whether you buy the hype of the "rivalries" the NBA has given us, we have some excellent matchups nonetheless. Jordan Poole is an absolute rollercoaster to watch (and play with, I'm sure). Anthony Davis is back, and already giving us heart attacks with a rolled ankle in his return. The Celtics go into Miami missing 4 of their top 6 guys, and collapse in the final moments.
In the pilot episode of whatever this video series/podcast winds up being named, I tackle the big, bad, and ugly finals rematch between the Celtics and the Warriors. For a bit of fun, why don't we talk about some NBA All-Star? I'm here to tell you why you should vote on the ASG with your HEART and not based on numbers. Spoiler: The Celtics have two all-star starters
