In a TRP first, the Rewinders are discussing film that isn't in English. Pedro Almodóvar's 1999 drama ALL ABOUT MY MOTHER was the winner of the Oscar for Best Foriegn Language Film, and the most-awarded film in the history of his native Spain. It's the story of a grieving mother, an HIV-positive pregnant nun, a transgender sex worker, a lesbian diva of the theatre, her heroin-addicted girlfriend, and getting by with a little help from your friends. #BeKindRewind

We're starting our 1999 season off with a bang, if by "bang" you mean repeated punches to the head. Yes, it's David Fincher's tale of toxic masculinity and violence. We're not only going to talk about FIGHT CLUB, but we're going to spoil the hell out of it, so if you've never seen it before, you might want to give it a view before tuning into our show. #BeKindRewind

In a week, The Rewinders are setting the way-back machine to 25 years ago, when we were on the precipice of a new millennium, and Hollywood was cranking out an amazing number of brilliant movies. As the Rewind Project wraps up another year, we wanted to discuss a wholesome, heartwarming tale of greed, madness, murder, and revenge. It's basically THE SHINING in an isolated mountain range, starring Humphrey Bogart as a down-on-his-luck beggar whose evil side emerges when he thinks he strikes gold, and an Oscar-winning performance by Walter Huston as a plucky prospector (directed by his Oscar-winning son, John). THE TREASURE OF THE SIERRA MADRE is dark and weird, so obviously we needed to talk about it. #BeKindRewind

Seventy-five years ago, Olivia de Havilland starred in a film that humanized women struggling with mental health, and together with director Anatole Litvak, created a sensitive portrayal of a woman and one caring psychologist working in an overcrowded and often cruel system. Seventy-five years ago, MGM took one of the most beloved songs from Irving Berlin's HOLIDAY INN, and made a movie that has absolutely nothing to do with Easter. But! It has Judy Garland and Fred Astaire and Peter Lawford and Ann Miller and 16 more songs by Berlin. EASTER PARADE is an old-fashioned musical about a song-and-dance man and the girl he plucks from obscurity to become the toast of Broadway, and we're gonna put on our fanciest bonnets and talk about it. #BeKindRewind

In 1948, a movie was released that captured the hearts of dancers everywhere, centered on a young ballerina who falls in love, yearns to dance, and can't do both, thanks to the trash men in her life. Put on your tutus, it's time for THE RED SHOES. #BeKindRewind

Three quarters of a century ago, Alfred Hitchcock made a movie based on the infamous Leopold & Loeb. Known today primarily for filming with nothing but eight long takes and lots of gay subtext happening under the surface, ROPE is a murder plot to get tangled up in. Guest host Justin joins Matt and Eric to untie the knots. #BeKindRewind

Seventy-five years ago, a movie about a cold case that was itself eleven years old, and the newspaperman who set an innocent man free. Jimmy Stewart and Lee J. Cobb star in CALL NORTHSIDE 777, and we're gonna talk about it. #BeKindRewind

Three quarters of a century ago, a rich and spoiled housewife was all alone in her four-poster bed when her telephone lines got crossed and she heard a couple of men planning a woman's murder. Unable to leave her home, she does what she can to save her, and begins to suspect that she might be the intended victim. Seventy years ago, Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell got on a boat with the US Olympic Team and sailed right into movie history. Featuring the iconic song "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" and fantastic comic performances, this is a fun, fizzy romp for the ages, and we're gonna talk about it. #BeKindRewind

Starring Jimmy Stewart and Kim Novak in a double (or is it?) role, VERTIGO is widely considered to be one of his finest achievements, but what did the Rewinders think? Sixty years ago, Hollywood produced the most expensive movie ever made, starring Elizabeth Taylor as the Queen of the Nile, whose family tree didn't fork. Making this film was arguably more dramatic than anything on screen, and we're gonna talk about it. #BeKindRewind
