Your body is the speaker. Your brain is the stereo. Turning down the speaker doesn't change the song. That's why people do somatic work for fifteen years and still have to regulate every day. Robert Gene has spent over 30 years on how the brain actually works, including ten years in drug rehabs with rape, murder, and the worst traumas you can name. In this episode he and co-host Crystal Wiens take apart the somatic model piece by piece. TRE. Shaking. Vagus nerve devices. Polyvagal theory. "Feel it to heal it." His position is blunt. Those tools change your state. They don't change the memory that built the state. You shake, you breathe, you feel better, and the guy with the matches is still standing in your head lighting the fires. Robert also gets specific about what does work. The intelligent idiot and why your brain links Kung Fu Fighting to your brother beating you. His own panic attack in the airport at age 60-something, decoded in one sitting. John, who lost his wife and his job and lives in a house with pathways through the junk, running an imprint he got when his parents divorced. Ronnie, who flew to Ireland with a suicide note in her bag and a $90,000 spinal implant, and was dancing in Greece less than 21 days later. Then he walks through the four steps that actually update a memory: intention, go in and aim, come out and change state, go back and check. That last step is where the neurology shifts. Trauma is an education, not an injury. You're not broken. Your brain is recycling old experiences to keep you alive, and you can update the file.
It’s June, PTSD Awareness Month, so Crystal and I sat down to talk about what PTSD really is. Here’s the headline: 97% of what you’ve been taught about it is wrong. PTSD is not a disorder. I call it post-traumatic stress directive, because your brain has a purpose for everything it does. A panic attack is your brain protecting you. https://skillstochange.mn.co/plans/1872620 Marie proved it. She came to my training in Oklahoma City. Wig, beads of sweat, a walker by her chair. She couldn’t get through the parking lot without feeling like she was going to die. She thought she was allergic to light. So I turned a lamp on her and started tapping, and three memories showed up: her mother dragging her down the hall by the hair, sneaking water at night, and an uncle in the dark. Every one of them had a light in it. We cleaned them up. The light stopped bothering her. The panic was protecting the whole time. Also in this hour: why one person gets PTSD from an event, and the next person walks away fine. The shark that chased me across a lake in Oklahoma, except there was no shark, just a movie I saw at eighteen. Why your body speaks the truth and “the body keeps the score” is a misnomer. Why you keep picking the wrong partner, and why your picker isn’t broken. Catherine, who spent enough on therapy to buy two houses, was still depressed after twenty years on antidepressants. And why does your brain file trauma as education? I don’t heal anybody. I’m a memory changer. Change the memory and the program changes with it. I'm Robert Gene Smith, creator of eutaptics® FasterEFT™ and founder of Skills to Change Institute. For over 25 years I've worked with thousands of people worldwide who were stuck in pain their doctors couldn't fix, their therapists couldn't reach, and their willpower couldn't move. What I teach is not positive thinking. It is not talk therapy. It is a process that goes directly to the memory structures running your life, and changes them.
You can't enjoy sex. Or you can't orgasm. Or your body shuts down when your partner gets close. Or you've got a fetish you're ashamed of, and you can't figure out where it came from. Or you've tried therapy for ten years, and you're still carrying the same thing. 🎓 Learn more: https://skillstochange.mn.co/plans/1872620 You're not broken. Your brain just wired it wrong. That's the whole problem. I'm Robert Gene Smith. I've been working inside the minds of people with sexual trauma for 27 years. Drug rehabs. Private clients. Live trainings on three continents. Rape survivors. Vaginismus. Erectile dysfunction. Fetishes. Religion crosswires. Couples who haven't touched in a decade. I've seen it. Here's what nobody else is telling you. Sexual trauma isn't about what happened to you. It's about what your brain did with what happened. The event is gone. The encoding is still running. And the encoding is what you can update. In this episode of The Robert Gene Experience, Crystal Wiens-Derksen and I go deep on the wiring underneath sex, intimacy, and pleasure. You'll hear the case of the social worker who ate Oreos in a closet and gave blowjobs to a neighbor — and the buried Uncle memory that wired the whole thing. The Bulgarian madam whose dominatrix career dates back to her father's belt. The Jewish convert with the rope fetish from his circumcision at 12. The Christian deacon who could be with a prostitute but not his wife. The woman who couldn't orgasm if she heard a sound — and what one session did to it. What you'll learn: • Why trauma isn't what happened to you — it's what your brain encoded • How the brain links things that don't go together and runs your life from those links • What an imprint tunnel is and why you can't "just decide" to feel different • Why your body did not betray you, even if you felt pleasure during something painful • How vaginismus, erectile dysfunction, and orgasm blocks all run on the same mechanism • Why imprints update at every age — the "locked-in by seven" claim is wrong • How fast the work can move when you go after the right memory (sometimes one session) • Why addressing it soon matters — the 22-year-old vs. the 31-year-old comparison You don't have to tell anyone the story. You don't have to relive the event. You don't have to figure out who to blame. The work is on the encoding. Eutaptics is like a DeLorean — go back, update the memory, come back, and the future is different. Ready to clean this up? Here's the path. You’re lying in bed. You hurt. You’ve tried the doctors. You’ve tried the pills. You’ve tried the cannabis. You’ve tried the morphine. You’ve tried the talk therapy. Nothing works. Your brain has built a fortress around the pain — and you can’t find your way out. I get it. I’ve been there. So has Roni. 🎓 Start with the FREE 5-Day Course: https://linktr.ee/robertgenesmith For 10 years, she was sick, and Roni was stuck. Wheelchair. Chronic nerve pain. A spinal cord stimulator was implanted in her body. Drugs her brain refused to absorb. She wrote the goodbye letters. She had a plan. And then she found one more thing to try. In this episode, Roni sits down with me and tells you exactly what happened — how she went from bedridden and writing sui.cide letters to dancing on the last day of a 7-day seminar in Greece. From morphine and ketamine and “nothing works” to singing again, traveling, marrying a good man, and cleaning her own house. Nine years of real change. The dip. The rise. All of it. Here’s what you’re going to learn: You’ll learn how your brain — what I call the limbic operating system, the intelligent idiot, the faithful servant — captures every painful experience and uses it on you. You’ll learn why the body doesn’t keep the score. The brain does. You’ll learn why pain is body language — your brain is trying to catch your conscious attention. You’ll learn that memories are malleable, and that you can take your worst memory and make it your best memory ever, if you have the skills, the knowledge, and the know-how. And you’ll learn the one thing nobody is telling you: you are fully responsible for your mental and emotional health. The cause of your problem is looking back at you in the mirror. So is the solution. Now here’s why you need to book a session with me. I’ve been doing this for over four decades. I’ve helped thousands of people clean up the dirt — the painful memories, the trauma, the emotional patterns that show up in the body as illness, anxiety, depression, addiction, broken relationships, chronic pain. I created Eutaptics and FasterEFT because I had to save myself first. Then I built it into a working system. When you sit with me, we don’t paint a pretty picture. We don’t fluff. We go to the dirt. We change memories. We update what your brain has been faithfully holding against you for years — and we replace it with what you actually want. That’s the work. That’s the only work that produces lasting change. You don’t have to keep living like this. You don’t have to keep rehearsing the bad record. You can play the good one. But somebody has to show you how to maneuver the pieces inside you. That somebody is me. If you’re tired of being miserable. If you’ve tried everything else. If you’re against the wall and you don’t see a way out — book a session. Take the You Can Change Yourself master training. Join the community. Get on the mentor calls. We care about you, and life is for living, not for suffering. It’s time to get off the couch and do something different. Hit subscribe. Share this with someone who needs it. And come work with me at SkillsToChange.com. Let it go. Deep breath. Peace. — Robert Gene Key Points From the Video 1. The brain captures painful experiences, organizes them, and replays them on you — Robert Gene calls this the “limbic operating system” or the “intelligent idiot, the faithful servant.” 2. The body doesn’t keep the score. The brain does — and the body is just where the brain screams to catch your conscious attention. 3. Pain is body language. Memories of trauma get stored neurologically and show up as physical illness, chronic pain, panic attacks, and disease. 4. Memories are malleable. You can identify a painful memory, introduce a new something, and the brain will update and eventually rewrite that memory. 5. Roni was bedridden for 10 years with chronic nerve pain, a spinal cord tumor, an implanted electrode and battery, and a body that rejected morphine, ketamine,
Your life is producing things you don't want — and there are four specific programs running it underneath your conscious awareness. In this episode, Robert Gene Smith breaks down the four styles your brain runs without asking you, why The Secret left out the secret, and how a four-minute session can clear what twenty years of therapy couldn't. You're not broken. You've been running programs nobody taught you how to update. Time to take the wheel.
