wow. I am disappointed Tulsi didn't correct Dave on many issues that he misrepresented democrats on. I count at least five times Dave gave leading questions that supposed some extremist view on the left/democrats. this is unsurprising for Dave, but Tulsi, to be a good politician should be able to expertly listen to the question and correct the groundwork. she did better than talking points, but would have liked her to correct instead of placate Dave's misrepresentation.

This is an awesome dialogue. I think I need to follow Dave's example and try a month off the grid. I've done 2 weeks, but he seems so refreshed after a month it gives pause for thought...

Irish Mike (by the way, I didn't mention identity politics, so I am not sure where your response comes from, but I do think identity politics has some utility).

Irish Mike That is good in theory, but recall the percentage of the population who reject homosexuality with fervor? They are rejecting someone's identity that allows them to self determination. Have you seen the Identity Politics debate in Foreign Policy magazine? I believe it was Stacy Abrams response to Fukuyama (and his original article and response). It is quiet good and gives a better definition of what identity politics is. (I think you are being very naive and facile). Even Fukuyama and Mark Lilla understands we all have identity, we use that Identity in daily life and in politics, but that isn't identity politics. And that's a big part of the debate, terms are ill defined and negligently left off.

Great episode. But I am sad to say the humans are not going to use this technology well. This guy is foolish to think humans are even remotely prepared for gene modification.. We are not even capable of preventing blackouts, yet.

Dave, I like you. Hence why I listen to your podcast. I tend to agree with your social stance of free speech and liberals essentially eating themselves with their extreme socialism, but that also has come about partly due to the one thing you espouse - as a libertarian - that free-market economics has provided a society in which 'people have never had it better.' In 2 areas (health and innovation) this may be true, we live longer through advancements in medicine, let alone technological. But at the expense of lax regulations meaning companies can charge whatever they want in regards to medication in which the excessive mark-ups fuel the R&D divisions of their companies and give them a competitive edge, medical bills have gone through the roof with people going into bankruptcy and financial hardship just to afford their meds. Multiple areas within society have suffered since the neoliberal economic model was introduced, not to mention a constant boom&bust economic cycle since its inception where during boom times, the minority reap the rewards and in bust times, everyone takes a hit. There has been at least 3 global recessions since the early 80's, with probably a 4th on the way. Some more examples.. - Education fees have rose to ridiculous levels, students inundated with a lifetime of debt for a degree which doesn't guarantee a job. Underemployment and job instability is rife throughout the world. - real wages haven't risen when compared historically since the 60/70's, yet the cost of living has skyrocketed for things like food & utilities. House prices have gone up 5 to 10 fold during that same period where 2 full-time working parent households cannot make ends meet. Health insurance is the same story. - education ratings/standards have slipped year-on-year as private schools become the financial beneficiary over public ones. - constant reports from credited economists stating this generation will be the first to go backwards from the previous generation in regards to total wealth. The list goes on. You keep preaching that we have never had it better. But I fear that the bubble you state the liberals live in and their lack of understanding of actual reality may be slowly being applied to you also.

Thanks for doing this Dave.I didn't know anything about her before this. Plus I really like politicians speaking in a podcast format. I think if we're just speaking morally, she's totally right on reparations. we didn't cause the mess, but it's our mess now and we need to get our room clean. It's not our fault, but it is our responsibility. I think I'm about okay with her implementation too but I'll need to think about it. All in all, I think I could vote for her. Not my top choice, but still.

Good Lord 🤪if she was half as wise as she believes she is 🙄UBI, reparations, orange man bad, racism, free health care, massive immigration, 15$ minimum wage - same crap, different wrapping. And the way she works the tone in her voice, when she tries to belittle Dave's arguments or objections. Cringe fest. As Graham said; Boy, you all want power. God, I hope you never get it!

Chris Kamau Jobs are always at risk of automation, but that has always created a new industry. Technology creates and destroys jobs we just need a better jobs training program

Sigve Vårdal Itland I disagree with her minimum wage stance, but I do agree with UBI, think tanks such as Brooklyn Institute did a study on which jobs are at risk of automation and boy, it was alot. Many people will be displaced if we don't put proactive solution in place now instead of a reactive one
