What can survivors who are feeling overwhelmed, depressed and traumatized do to recover, and how can friends and family help? It's important for survivors to know that they can regain a sense of power over those triggers, and that the most natural response is to push away the triggers. Self-care isn't about turning off those bad feelings, but feeling those feelings so that they can subside naturally. Tune in as myself and Sistar Atarah Yahu discuss living an empowered life after sexual trauma. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thesacredspace/support
Meet the Founder Learn more about our President and Founder, a proud Boston Native Christian with a heart of gold! After receiving an offer to move to Georgia to be a live-in nanny for a family, Ms. Tré quickly realized that it would be up to her to make sure current family clients in the Washington, D.C. metro area were able to continue receiving the quality care she had gotten them accustomed to. Prior to her move to Georgia she gladly found quality associates to continue working with the families in her absence. Once in Georgia Ms. Tré decided to work towards creating a company that would provide care at large events to hopefully encourage more employees, staff and/or consultants to attend. Over time more families would ask her to help with supplemental in-home care for their loved ones, and so Mommy’s Day Off was formed with 2 sectors, family and corporate. Ms. Tré is still a Freelance Nanny, and anyone that knows her will tell you that her passion for what she does shines bright with every encounter having to do with MDO. She wants MDO to be an asset to every family that decides to embark on a relationship with us, and know that they can count on us for all their care needs. Feel free to contact her anytime by email at tre@mommysdayoff.com, even if just to say hello. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thesacredspace/support

Last night I realized I have been shrinking myself, dimming my light and accommodating people for my entire life for so many reasons but one stood out and snatched my ass up. My name is Terricina L. Jackson however people never knew how to pronounce my name. I was given the nickname “Terra” to accommodate people who refused to take the time out to learn my name let alone me. It dawned on me that it sent a very detrimental message to my child self. I remember knowing exactly where my name fell on the attendance list to prevent people from saying my name incorrect I’d raise my hand and say, “Terra Jackson” because the shame was unbearable. Hmmmm I can still feel what that felt like. It made me feel like I had to adjust myself so that other people were okay despite how it made me feel. Terra was a character created for other people’s approval as a child. That behavior spilled over into my adulthood. Last night, I vomited up that yuck literally and figuratively. Today, I reclaimed my power. Don’t call me “Terra” my name is Terricina. Can you relate? All new podcast this evening at 6pm est. Let’s talk about it!!! Tune in this evening for a new episode of “The Sacred Space,” where myself and Craig Samuels embark on a journey of uncovering the secrets that kept our families sick and yours too. We're "Healing Dysfunctional Families." Craig is a life & mental wellness coach, author and speaker. Y'all cannot afford to miss this. Craig has changed my life in one short week. You can grab a copy of his best seller, "My Mother's Guilt, My father's Sin: The Death Of Innocence" available on Amazon. My Mother's Guilt, My father's Sin: The Death Of Innocence, is a recapitulation of the trials of growing up in an African American environment of dysfunction causing trauma. It is a skillful rendition of a real life situation that is all too common yet seldom discussed. A picturesque portrayal of a troubled family is what the author has presented while also showcasing a mournfully beautiful pen, accompanied by a powerfully consuming vivid imagery of domestic realism. Craig Samuels has produced a script that allows the reader to experience hope amid dire circumstances that dimmed but never snuffed out the light of his existence. Aside from the pages being replete with words of wisdom, it is also highly therapeutic and encouraging. You will not be disappointed. https://www.amazon.com/Mothers-Guilt-Fathers-Sin-Innocence/dp/0998829544/ref=sr_1_fkmrnull_1?keywords=My+Mother%27s+Guilt%2C+My+father%27s+Sin%3A+The+Death+Of+Innocence&qid=1558022481&s=gateway&sr=8-1-fkmrnull --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thesacredspace/support
