The Sandbox was the last popular radio show on the last independently-owned Alternative radio station serving Eastern Massachusetts and the Maine and New Hampshire seacoasts, 101.7 and 92.1 WFNX. The show started as a podcast in 2005 at WDYL in Richmond, Virginia with hosts Charlie, Fletcher, and Special Ed. After a year in different markets, WFNX program director Keith "Tugboat" Dakin brought The Sandbox back together, with the addition of WFNX Morning News Anchor Henry Santoro. The Sandbox was on the air at WFNX from August of 2007 to December of 2009. These are their podcasts.
The day that The Sandbox had Jeff Garlin in-studio was the day that The Sandbox changed, for the better. The show had spent the first few months of its existence on WFNX trying to find its voice. Charlie, Fletcher, Ed and Henry knew the chemistry was there, but things hadn't clicked yet. It took a brutal drive-time snowstorm, the hilarious Jeff Garlin, a Pop Tart delivery, and WFNX General Manager and Chaos Agent Gary Kurtz to push the boys over the edge into what became the radio show that dozens of people knew, and some maybe even loved.
