Description

The Sandwich Club is a podcast for women in the middle — the ones holding it all together while being pulled in every direction.
Kids, ageing parents, work, money, relationships, changing bodies... and the quiet question of “is this it?”
Hosted by two midlife women with different lives but a shared sense of humour, this is not a self-improvement podcast and it’s not a crisis either. It’s real conversations about the long middle — what’s shifting, what’s surprising, what’s quietly hard, and what’s unexpectedly freeing.
There’s laughter, honesty, the occasional uncomfortable truth, and a lot of recognition.
If you’ve ever felt stretched, slightly invisible, or wondering what comes next — you’re not alone.
Welcome to The Sandwich Club.

We like to think we are pretty easygoing. Until someone loads the dishwasher wrong. this week we are talking all the things we have become particular about. How to make a cup of tea, where things go in the fridge and which way the toilet roll hangs. Turns out we are very relaxed people, as long as everyone does things properly. The Sandwich Club is for women in the middle — juggling kids, parents, work, money, bodies and everything in between.
How honest is too honest? Should you mix your friendship groups? Are secrets ever okay and are soul-mates really a thing? This week we tackle some tricky questions and get into the unwritten rules of friendships and relationships. The Sandwich Club is for women in the middle — juggling kids, parents, work, money, bodies and everything in between.
Dylan Thomas told us not to "go gentle into that good night", but then he wasn't dealing with dodgy knees, reading glasses and getting up twice in the night. This week we are borrowing his famous poem to talk about ageing. What are we fighting, what are we accepting and when did getting older become something we are all supposed to do so positively? Do you want to rage against the dying of the light? Or just make a little bit of a fuss along the way?
The difficult conversations that arrive as parents age. Needing help, accepting help and what happens when "I'm fine" clearly isn't the whole story. Not a how to, just grappling with the reality of trying to have that conversation at all.
There was a time when a Viennetta meant you had guests coming over, After Eights came out after dinner, and having a microwave meant you'd really made it. In this episode, we're looking back at the food, gadgets, holidays and little luxuries we once thought were incredibly sophisticated. Prawn cocktails. Fondue sets. Duty-free perfume. A phone in your bedroom. A second television. And the almost unimaginable excitement of getting your photos back from the chemist.
