Radiation oncologist Dr Gerry Adams reflects on a career that has spanned continents, disciplines and leadership in cancer care. Originally from Northern Ireland and trained in Edinburgh, Dr Adams eventually made his way to regional Queensland, where he has helped build and expand radiation oncology services in Bundaberg.  Dr Adams discusses the rewards and challenges of practising in a regional centre, his clinical interests including research into immunotherapy following surgery and radiation therapy for skin cancer, and the rapid technological advances shaping the future of cancer treatment. Dr Adams also reflects on his service to RANZCR, including his time as Dean of the Faculty of Radiation Oncology, and his current role as Chair of the Māori, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Empowerment Committee (MATEC).  The Scan is proudly brought to you by The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists.https://www.ranzcr.com/ See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
